  1. Wow really? Now it's up to $159/night. *sighs* I have still been making bids and have still been rejected. Thanks for letting me know UAL123.
  2. Cheryl, I might think about doing that if I continue to be unsuccessful with finding something in New Buffalo. May 21st update. New Buffalo 2* $38 - rejected New Buffalo 2* + 1* $40 - rejected
  3. My update (May 20th) I tried a bid of $35 last night and failed. Then added 1* hotel to my choice and was still rejected. I won't be taking the chance with the re-bid of the zones. This is the only area in which I would like to stay in and just feel it too risky to add an area in which I have no desire to stay in. For some reason, I think that's what I had done when I booked my trip in October 2009 and wanted to stay in downtown Pittsburgh, but ended up out by the airport because I added a zone. Thanks for the suggestion Cheryl, but I will be traveling alone and would prefer to stay in once place for my entire trip. :) I also must admit that I'm unsure of Michigan City. This forum shows now winners from that area and I'm not really sure what hotels are offered. I have also been told it's not the safest are, but I could be wrong. Well, it looks like I am just going to up my bid tonight and see if I can't get it for $38. Thanks again for the help!
  4. Thanks for changing my title...duh wasn't thinking. Well, I was just bidding what all the past bidders bid for that hotel/area and won. *shrugs* Honestly, I have no idea what the going rate for that hotel was for those people. Just thought I would give it a try. My maximum bid will be $50.
  5. Thank you again for the help, but I am now planning on staying in New Buffalo, Michigan. Hope that someone else will soon post some results for this area for the forum.
  6. *sighs* Sometimes I think that it's just Priceline that doesn't like me. I am trying to book a room in New Buffalo, Michigan. My dates are June 11 - June 16, 2010. All the past winners from this area have posted the result of the New Buffalo Fairfield Inn and Suites for $33/night (and those winnings were from May 2009 to March 2010). I was rejected. Guess I will just need to try again tomorrow.
  7. Thanks thereuare! I am looking at Friday June 11 till Wednesday June 16, 2010. The best hotel rating for that area would be nice and my budget is no more than $50/night.
  8. I've been searching the hotel list for this area and nothing seems to be listed for Michigan City. Has anyone had any luck with finding hotels in this area? The Priceline website itself does show hotels listed and it is possible to bid on them. Any help would be great. Thank you.
  9. I just wanted to give an update on this. I looked up the information about their Best Price Guarantee and called the number. Ugh is all I can say. It's automated and doesn't give you the option to speak to someone about this nor the option that even directs you to the BPG. I'm not that impressed anymore with PRICELINE. I gave up trying to use their offer. I'm not too sure that I will recommend this to anyone only for this issue at hand. My biggest pet peeve with most companies, is not being able to speak to a live person when I need to. Thanks again everyone for your help and taking the time to read this.
  10. Oh I just noticed that you have me in the wrong grouping. This is for Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Niagara Falls)...not Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Downtown). Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Niagara Falls) 3* Crowne Plaza Holiday Inn Select 3* Holiday Inn (114 Buffalo Avenue) Four Points Sheraton REVIEW It's Zone 6 on the Priceline map.
  11. I did end up winning 3* Courtyard by Marriott Pittsburgh Airport for $50/night. 450 Cherrington Parkway Coraopolis, Pennsylvania 15108 USA It wasn't bad, just a little too far away from downtown as I would have liked.
  12. You know, I had read that before when I used the site for my Pittsburgh trip and you would think that I would remember to read it again just to be sure. :) Looking at the site again for the Super 8...the room is offered for $52.99/night and I paid $53/night. I know it's pennies, but it's still the fact that I don't think that I'm getting any sort of deal on the room at all...again, I know it's my own doing for not remembering the tips you guys have posted here. I guess this hotel should be in the list of hotels in the Niagara Falls hotel list, just so others (hopefully not as silly as me) will then know that there are other hotels that Priceline works with in that area...not just the two 3* that are listed. This Super 8 is listed as a 1*. Super 8 Niagara Falls, NY 795 Rainbow Blvd. Niagara Falls, New York 14303 716-284-9778 I'm so sorry I totally forgot to do that and will post my results right away. I'm sure that I will be okay with it. In fairness it's just a place to shower and sleep. I was just hoping to pamper myself a little more on this adventure buy staying at a nicer hotel. C'est la vie... My lesson has been learned. :)
  13. Hi everyone, I am planning a trip to Niagara Falls, New York for Jan 14-17, 2010. Well, I must admit that I got a little cheeky when placing my bids with Priceline for that region. It's my fault that I did base my information on from what I read in the hotel list for that area in this forum. It only listed two 3* hotels and I didn't even think that Priceline would have more for that area. As I said my fault for not checking. I had started my bids at $50 for a 3* and got nothing. Next bid was for $51 and I added 2.5* to it, keeping the same area. Next bid was for $52 and I added 2* to my list still keeping the same area. Next bid was for $53 and I added 1* to the list and kept the same area. I placed all these bids in a row...again my fault and as I said I was being cheeky with it. I won a hotel for $53/night for the Super 8 Niagara Falls. I wasn't expecting this at all and suddenly got sick to my stomach. It's a 1* hotel in that area. :) Not what I was aiming for. I looked that hotel up using their web site and was sickened more seeing that I could have gotten that same hotel by using their site and would have saved money. My Priceline total is $190.32. The total for the Super 8 would have been $179.64. I do understand that there is a fee for using Priceline, but I'm not getting any sort of deal at all by using it. Can something be done or is this just a story to publish to be told as an example of 'what not to do'? I mean, does Priceline offer anything if you end up paying more for a room using their service? Thanks in advance.
  14. Thanks so much for posting this travelfred. I guess I am going to have to start over with my search. Oh and thank you too thereuare for all of your help as well.
  15. Thank you...I will look into this I actually researched this and neither team is playing at home that weekend (meaning hockey and football) I've thought about this, but would prefer to stay in one place and not move around.I am also going to send you a PM with some additional information thereuare Thanks for replying
  16. Hello everyone, I am trying to get a wonderful 4* hotel in the downtown Pittsburgh area for Oct 9-13, 2009, and so far I haven't had any luck. I was impressed that pennstate22's winning priceline bid was able to get the Omni William Penn at $55 for 9/4/09-9/6/09. I have started my bid at $50 and my last try was for $59. So far I have put in this info for each bid... Pittsburgh Downtown 4* $50, $55, $56, $57, $58 and finally $59 When those didn't work, I changed some of my options and tried again with... Pittsburgh Downtown 4* 3.5* $50, $52, $53, and $57 Now I think I read somewhere that someone had added an area that didn't have any 4* hotels listed in it to try their bid again. I guess there is no way for sure to know if all the 4* hotels are only located in the downtown area? I mean I don't want to take the risk and add all the other areas, one by one on the list, only to end up in say West Mifflin - West Homestead or even the Cranberry township - places I don't wish to stay in. I really would like to stay in the downtown area...as I would like to be able to walk to many attractions. I can't afford to spend more than $60/night. So, that's my story...what suggestions do people have? Thank you in advance.
