  1. Thanks for the idea - the Tuscan has great reviews on TA how were you able to identify it? Was it listed as a 1 bedroom with Resort fees? Thanks for you help. By the way I put a topic on the getting started board that your FAQ is a great help it is just not easy to find. thanks again.
  2. Where is the Link to FAQ?, Everbody says to read first but how do you find it? FYI - an observation. I use TripAdvisor and score more of my finds (but book personally) through them and post more frequently on that Web site. On this web site I like the getting started tab but am wondering why there isn't an easy link to FAQs. I found it via a comment in a response, but just spend 5 minutes trying to find it on my own. Having read others remarking on this it would seem the easy solution would be putting a link on this page. I always like the help on this site but it seems like I have to restart my learning curve every time I use it and often get corrected on protocols, which could be avoided if FAQ were read. I may have missed it but reading through comments I am not the first. Thanks and keep up this service. It is appreciated.
  3. Can you help identify Disney Maingate Celebration Area Condo 3 1/2 * 0ne room two adult guests. Dates are May 24 -31. I am not sure I'll take this one but I am looking for a good deal on either Priceline or hot Wire. I prefer to know parking and resort Fees so I suspect I will use Hotwire (unless can fine tune a bid for Embassy Suites on I boulevard). The Hotel lists: Free Parking Air-Conditioning Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Condo It additionally has a 95% approval rating. Thanks as I try again.
  4. We are having some bad weather and had to turn off my computer. The room now isn't being shown. It has been for the past few days and when I see it again I will get more details. Thanks
  5. Trying to identify a 3* for 7 night from .5 - 5.6 miles from City Center of Kissimmee. The Amenities are: Condo 2-Bedroom Fully-equipped Kitchen Washer and Dryer in Room Free Parking Children's Activity Program Pool(s) 24-hour Front Desk It doesn't say AC but I have to believe it does if it is in Florida. It has a 90% approval rating. Thank you
  6. Winning bid $45 for Spring Hill Suites Convention Center Dec 7-11, $45 a night, total cost $209.34. Like the Chain, free breakfast and Parking. Bottom line less hotel then the one I was staying at (Bohemian) but a great stay for the price. Thanks
  7. I was asked to end a previous thread, I chose to use neither website and stayed on Marriott points at a great Springfield Suites hotel in Altamonte Springs. Now I am trying to decide if I choose to gamble with Hotel unknown or choose another Marriott hotel. If anyone is reasonably sure of the hotel I am requesting the name of I would appreciate it. I post all winning bids as I get them and hope you do also. As always if you are really unsure, choose a website you trust, a few $ saved isn't worth a bad vacation experience. I will continue to follow my own advice and hope your trips are always rewarding.
  8. Chose not to use either Priceline or Hotwire and stayed on Marriott points at Springfield Suites in Altamonte north of Orlando downtown. I usually only post wins when I use the website but I was asked to finish this thread.
  9. I can't copy the icons but it has a 95% user satisfaction rating is listed as I drive south has the Suite Icon, smoke free rooms, internet, fitness center, complimentary breakfast, business center and pool. Also has a 4 1/2 Trip advisor rating. My plan is to stay Dec 7-11. Any idea which hotel? Thanks in advance.
  10. Kinda of a simple question with HOTWIRE I notice you can see when parking is included. Can you do the same in PRICELINE? Defeats the purpose in bidding if at arrival you find parking and towel fees raise the cost be an additional $30 and it seems in Orlando that is a common occurrence. Thanks
  11. Thanks I may check a few more times. I appreciate the advice and will be more brief next time.
  12. Not sure if I am doing this right but see that a condo is listed for Feb 24 (6 nights) for $69. I'm hoping it is the Embassy Suites. Here is what is listed: Condominium offers a bedroom plus a living room and complete kitchen. Free Parking Condominium is equipped with a washer and dryer within the unit. Fitness Center Pool(s) Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. 24-hour Front Desk Front-desk services are available at all hours. Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Golf Nearby Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one golf course; an extra charge typically applies.
  13. Being a poor typist so much for cutting and pasting. The dates were correct the days were not. 4 nights for a total cast (with taxes/fees) of $450. From the reviews not a 5 but a solid 4 and close to the tube.
  14. Well update I went to $130 for Soho Mayfair and was rejected with a recommended bid of 183. I did find a 5 * for the dates in lastminute.com secret hotel (UK not US Web site) for 382 pounds. Seems like this might be the best option. I am trying to determine if it is City Centre, I think so but it is not easy to decipher.
  15. Madflyer I couldn't find Top Secret Hotels when I went to web site under hotels. It just listed them by name. Can I access the web site from the US? Thanks
  16. Madflyer thanks. I was thinking $220 per night at a Marriott then using status to upgrade was a good idea. I have checked out last minute before but used hotelscombined this time. I will check the rates. Since I have a few months and have a points reservation backup I intend to shop. From you post it sounds like more may become available in a while. thanks and I'll let you know how it turns out.
  17. Thanks I actually checked out your hotel on Trip Advisor after I saw your post and it seemed like a real deal. I'm probably just being lazy thinking if we were located near Soho except for tube trips to Camden and Portobello it would be easier. But for a $100 a day it might be worth the inconvenience. Have you stayed at that Hotel before?
  18. Just tried a $109 bid for a 5* rejected was countered with $183 per day after adding $100+ in taxes/fees it made it more expensive than Hotwire.
  19. Thanks Yellowdog. We are familiar with the Central area of London previously staying at a Thistle Hotel Victoria Station (had to take the tube or bus to the theater district), and My Hotel Bloomsbury (loved it because we could walk everywhere). London is the last 4 days of a 12 day trip to starting with 4 days in Krakow, then Prague and finally London. I can use Marriott points but in London it would be 160,000 points for 4 days and I think there are better ways to spend them. The range of hotels we have been looking at have been between $125 to about $180 using Trip Advisor as a filter. Our needs in the hotel (besides a bath tub - wife request) is we just want it to be OK. Small rooms are fine but we would prefer a decent size bed I am 6'1. We are comfortable walking around Central London and taking the tube to Camden and Portbello Markets, the airport and back to our hotel (if we get tired and we walked to far in one direction). I've not stayed in London in December so I am thinking a Hotel in Soho would be most convenient. Honestly we haven't really budgeted it and I would rather pay a few $ more for a slightly better hotel. I also may have accidentally reposted your response trying to reply.
  20. Well here is a first post from a new member. I am struggling with figuring out how to do things so I apologize in advance if there is an easy answer in the Forum. I am traveling to London for leisure arriving Dec 17, 2009 at Heathrow. We plan on experiencing the Christmas Season at Markets and stores in London. Previously we bid at a Web site, Skyauction, and stayed in Bloomsbury at a My Hotel for under $100. I know I have seen links to FAQ but when typing FAQ in Search Engine I can't find anything. So here goes. My needs are simple I want a nice Hotel accessible to the Tube, (my wife has some mobility issues, but has difficulty now walking long distances). It seems that our best bet would be Soho/MayFair or possibly Bloomsbury choosing a 5 star. I expect that we will take the Tube in from Heathrow and use the Tube and our feet to get around London. I've looked at a number of the winning hotels in Mayfair and Soho but it appears the challenge is that you do not know in advance if they are accessible by Public Transport. If I am Leaving in December what is the best strategy to start bidding. Should I wait a few months? Last and this really sounds stupid how do I know when someone responds or find a Topic? I'm OK in TA but challenged here. Thanks in advance.
