  1. Thanks AaronJB. Looked up the info I had from my credit card statement and finished out that last link. So sorry about that. Any help on this one would be great, and will post results in a much more timely manner. Thanks again!
  2. Been a long time, but we ended up with the Sheraton I believe. Looked back at credit card receipt and we spent $83. Worked out great!
  3. I have three listings on Hotwire and am having trouble figuring out what they are. Days of travel are 11/13-11/16. 1) Redondo Beach area boutique hotel, 4 stars, business center, internet, restaurant, boutique hotel, $173 per night ($254 crossed out) 2) Redondo Beach area hotel, 4 stars, Free Internet, Business, restaurant, $169 per night 3) Venice - Marina del Rey boutique hotel, 4 stars, Free Internet, Restaurant, Business, boutique hotel, $213 per night Any help would be great! Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the help. I don't need a room for both nights but only one or the other (and not sure which one for sure yet). I'd prefer the 3.5* available on 8/14-15 but if I have to stay 8/15-16 that same property wasn't showing up. As such, not knowing what that 3* is, if I stay 8/15-16 I'm hesitant to book through Hotwire not knowing what I'll get (and, thanks to what you pointed out, ending up with a property not as highly recommended). Thought I'd see if you folks had any clue what that 3* could be before making any decisions.
  5. Hi, Just did a search for a hotel in Towson, MD. Checked for 8/14-8/15 and then 8/15-8/16. On the 8/15-8/16 search I came across one hotel in Towson with 3*. Amenities included: fitness, pool, restaurant, laundry, and golf nearby. I checked the list of hotels and in Towson there's only a 3.5 star (Sheraton). On my 8/14-8/15 search I was offered a 3.5*, but only the 3* on 8/15-8/16. I looked at the Priceline list of hotels and saw that the Marriott was a 3*, but I don't know if a 3* on Priceline equates to a 3* on Hotwire. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  6. Just a question and a follow-up. When I bid on this hotel I went back to the BetterBidding site and clicked through it for each bid since I was bidding using different accounts. In the future, if I rebid (say I change the locations I'm interested in) but stay with the same acount, will BetterBidding still be credited if my bid is accepted? That make any sense? I want to make sure you guys get your due. As for the hotel, the stay was great, although the place is still a little rough around the edges (some of the staff are new to the industry and at times it shows). I stayed for a second night using Priceline's add a night feature. Price was a bit hgher for the second night (about $10). While I'm not sure if that's normal, I was still really happy with the price. Got to get some good eats at the market across the street too. If anyone visits and you're there when it's open make sure you stop by.
  7. First time winning with Priceline. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link and scored this hotel for $55 from 6/10 to 6/11. First bid was for $40 and failed. Second bid (using a friend's account) was for $50 and failed. Third bid was $55 and was accepted. This is a neat Marriott, right downtown (yes, it's Lancaster, but it's still a cute little downtown). Thanks BetterBidding!
  8. Since I'm around for a few months I've played around with different dates but have been looking at the first block (first month) from 2/19 through 3/19 (28 days). The best price I've found for a compact so far is $19 per day ($570 per month plus fees/taxes for a total of $628). This was through Budget in downtown San Francisco. My target budget is around $450 (total, including fees/taxes) as above this it starts to become better to use zipcar and an occasional daily/weekend rental. Again not sure if my target is feasible on PRICELINE so haven't tried anything there yet. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.
  9. The best rate I've found is around $19 per day , which with taxes and all comes out to approx. $600 for 28 days. That's for the smallest car class. I probably would need something bigger, which adds another $2-$4 per day. I think that these rates are pretty good for San Francisco but just too much for my budget over three months. I'm not sure how low Priceline might go and my expectations might be unreasonable. I've always been a fan of HOTWIRE and never tried Priceline's name your own price. Would something a lot lower be possible? And would any additional PRICELINE fees just eat up those savings?
  10. Thanks for the tip. Any advice on what's a reasonable bid for a long term rental? Does that make a difference (would they be willing to take a lower bid if the rental period is longer, does it work the other way - higher bid per day needed for longer rental, or does it not make a difference?)
  11. Thanks yellowdog. I followed up on that thread - sorry about not doing it before, my mistake - and would love any advice you or anyone could provide. Thanks again!
  12. Sorry about not following up on this thread - I thought if we click through the HOTWIRE link on this site to book our hotel it automatically comes to you folks. I decided to go with the $77 option and it was, as precicted, the Crowne Plaza. I booked though the link on your site and all went great. Thanks so much!
  13. I've moved to San Francisco for a few months to help care for my sister and wanted to rent a car to help her out. I'm felxible on the car size, although something toward a midsize would be better than the smallest options (hatchback would be great but not sure how/if one could bid for something like that). Dates are from now (flexible on start date) to the end of April. Cheapest rate I saw (for smallest car class) through general surfing is about $150 per week. While the rates I've seen with Hotwire aren't too bad - $20 or so per day - they're for rentals at the airport (I want to rent from downtown since I'm in the city already) and also, over the course of a few months, that's just too much money for me. I was wondering if there are cheaper rates to be had by using Priceline and, if so, if anyone had any advice on how to bid for a longer term rental. I'm thinking I may have to limit the rental due to credit card insurance coverage (not sure if Amex covers a rental longer than 30 days or so) so that also might mean rebidding in the future (doing bids for a month or a few weeks at a time). Anyone ever have to do this? Any advice on what I should/could do would be most appreciated. Many thanks.
  14. Thanks so much for the info, especially the list - I didn't realize it was there. I'm thinking that maybe #4 is the Comfort Inn, although I'm not positive.
  15. First time using the site. Have checked it out and love it and will book all hotwire transactions through here moving forward. Question is about a Philly hotel for 9/9/09 - 9/11/09. Found a few hotels and would love some insight if anyone knows what they are. And if anyone has any advice for which of these is better or other hotels/search options I'd love to hear about them. Thanks in advance. You folks rock. First four found with search for one adult. Last one found searching for adult/two kids - think it might be same as first one but different price (not sure if hotwire prices/room options change if the number of guests is changed). 1) center city east $77 3.5 star 3.5 trip advisor fitness pool food biz center laundry 2) center city east $75 3 star 4 trip advisor fitness pool food biz center internet access 3) olde town penn's landing $69 3 star 3.5 trip advisor no smoking fitness pool food biz center laundry internet access 4) olde town penn's landing $59 2.5 star 4 trip advisor breakfast fitness internet access food 5) center city east $83 3.5 star fitness pool food biz center laundry
