Was looking for one night stay in Downtown Halifax January 19, 2013. First bid $50 4* Halifax Downtown - Rejected Second bid $55 added Bedford/Bayer's Lake - Rejected Was offered the rate of $69 without needing to change my star rating or zones. I turned it down to bid again. Third bid $57 added Dartmouth - Rejected Final bid $60 added Airport - Accepted. Won The Westin in Downtown Halifax. Cheers.

After not getting any form of reply or strategy for Priceline I did some digging and found Skyauction, offering stays for a great price. Thanks anyway.

I've yet to be successful using Priceline, and only peeked at Hotwire. I've been too optimistic after checking the 'winning bids' calendar. I'm trying to find a nice hotel in NYC between Nov. 11-16. My main problem is when my husband booked the flight he told me we would stay in LI City to save money. I'm trying to convice him I can save money by using Priceline... needless to say he isn't buying it! So... if I can find a comparable hotel (3*+) for under $175 I'll be a hero. If I can't, I'll be staying in LI City :) Do-able? Impossible? I'm not opposed to splitting the stay if this is a better strategy. Any help is appreciated.

PRICELINE and HOTWIRE are both fairly new to me, I have not booked anything through either. I am wondering how soon should I begin the bidding process in order to get the 'best price'? Is it better to wait until closer to my travel date or is it suggested to do it ASAP? Any assistance would be appreciated! Also, great forum, it has really gotten me up to speed!
