  1. Two nights (Thanksgiving) in Modesto-Salida area. 2. 3* hotel in Roseville, CA area Initial bid at $41/night, received priceline counter-offer at $53 Re-bid at $43, rejected Re-bid at $45, rejected Re-bid at $47, accepted for Hyatt Place 2 nights, room subtotal = $94.00 Taxes/fees = $20.94 Total = $114.94 I used this site's PRICELINE.com link to make the purchase. Disneyland-Orange-Garden Grove area - 5/13/11 - 5/15/11, Doubletree Anaheim (Orange) Bid $44/night - accepted on first bid Room charge (2 nights): $88.00 Taxes/fees (2 nights): $19.50 Total: $107.50 Even with the parking fee, a good deal (I think) for a May weekend with the Mouse. I used the Board's "Priceline" link. Rich
  6. One time in the Golden Nugget via Hotwire, I got an old tower ("Carson") room; another time, I chatted up the hotel clerk and ended up in a room in the Rush Tower. It's all luck of the draw... Good luck!
  7. Amenities listed: Near Beach, Restaurants, Casino, Laundry Facilities, Airport Shuttle, Golf Nearby Room: $34 x 2 Taxes/Fees: $15.46 Total Charge: $83.46 Something must be happening in Reno this weekend (beyond the Brian Regan show at Silver Legacy), was lucky to get anything affordable for this trip. Thanks to all for your continued help. I used the board's HOTWIRE link to make the reservation.
  8. Yes, the amenity list was exactly the same. Hotel Dupont Amenities: Smoke Free, Fitness, Business, Internet, Restaurants
  9. Those are the same amenities that were listed for my room at the Dupont Hotel from 8/25-8/27. I paid $114 for each of those two nights, then booked a third night (8/24) for $109. Both HOTWIRE listings had that same amenity list.
  10. Bid on a 3* in Bakersfield for one night (Thursday 6/17). First bid accepted for $38, Doubletree Hotel Bakersfield Room: $38.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.03 Total: $50.03 Thanks to all for your continued help. I used the Board's PRICELINE link to make the bid.
  11. Started bidding on 4* Times Square/Theater District at $140 and was rejected...added Midtown West and bumped bid to $142 and was awarded the Warwick New York Hotel Room rate: $142/night x 2 Taxes: $49.26 Fees: $13.76 Total: $347.02 I used the site's PRICELINE link to make the bid.
  12. Follow up on this posting - I needed an extra night at the same hotel (8/24) - best quote I could get from the hotel itself was $270/night - found a similar listing on hotwire for the same hotel, took the risk, and got the additional night at the Dupont Hotel for $109+ hotwire fees.
  13. Started to bid at $68, then added re-bidding zones with no 3.5* hotels through $78/night, until bid of $81 was accepted. Sheraton Boston Hotel. HOTWIRE had a room that was likely the Sheraton Boston for $89 for the same night]. Room $81; tax/fees $19.54, total $100.54. Thanks to all for their continued postings and help. I used the Board's PRICELINE link to book the trip.
  14. Hotwire purchase, quoted as $114/night for 4* in Dupont Circle/Embassy Row area. Hotel Dupont Amenities: Smoke Free, Fitness, Business, Internet, Restaurants Total for 2 nights: $114/night, total $38.73 taxes and fees, overall total $266.73 Thanks to all for their continued help on this board. I used the board's HOTWIRE link to make the purchase.
  15. Bid for 3* room near Providence airport for August, had Priceline accept first bid at $43. [Total for 2 nights, $105.44]. Told my sister, and later today she was able to get the same room through Priceline for $39/night, on her first bid.
  16. Follow-up on this booking....used the $20 trick, was handed back my money ("we can't accept gratuities directly"), then was booked into a new room (without additional charge) in the Rush Tower. Phenomenal room, truly a bit of high-end strip luxury downtown. I followed the desk agent's cryptic instructions ("no, we can't accept a tip directly...but if after you get to your room, you bring this survey folder down and fill it out and hand it to me directly, it would be GREATLY appreciated") for the well-earned tip. I could never figure out why the Nugget would consistently get 4*'s, with the somewhat old-fashioned (even dowdy) rooms in the Carson Tower...now I know. Rush Tower is an altogether different experience. Good luck to all!
  17. Hotwire buy, Hotel Whitcomb (across from Orpheum Theater). $68/night for one night, 2/19/10-2/20/10. Amenities listed were Fitness Center, Business Center, Internet. Thanks to all for your continued help on this site.
  18. Started at $33, added zones and upped to $35 and $37 before hitting it at $41. Hotwire is quoting $49/night for what's presumably the same place/same nights (only Hotwire 4* in Downtown), and the Golden Nugget's website was offering nightly rates of $39, $59 and $59 for the same. Very happy with this for a last minute (early) Super Bowl weekend. Thanks to all for their continued help on this site. I did use the board's links to PRICELINE when I made the bid. Now to get ready for the trip...!
  19. Bid starting at $37, then up to $39, $41, $43, then finally $46, each adding zones that didn't have 3.5* hotels. 2 nights, $46/night, total with fees and charges $112.08 Thanks to everyone on the board for their tips and hints. Trip booked using the board's PRICELINE link.
  20. Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Had first bid on priceline.com accepted for a 3* room in Bakersfield, Marriott Courtyard, night of 8/27, for $50. [Expedia listed the same room at $119.] This was a last minute (same day) request. I haven't seen this particular hotel listed in your master list for Bakersfield, so you might want to add it. I used your PRICELINE link to make the bid. Thanks to all for your help! Rich
