  1. Hi, I see on the board that a lot of people got the Sheraton in Old San Juan, PR via Priceline. Are people just getting that when they pick San Juan as the neighborhood they want? I'd like to stay in Old San Juan, but I don't see that as an option on Priceline. Would appreciate any tips! Thanks. Edit: Now I see that this hotel just happens to pop up a lot, but it's in the San Juan zone on Priceline. Can anyone familiar with the San Juan hotels and the star ratings tell me if there's a way to increase my chances of getting a hotel in Old San Juan? Seems like the 3.5 star route could be good, but maybe there's a better way...
  2. Just wanted to report back on this...I ended up not using Priceline for Rome because (as others indicated here) the prices were comparable to what I could get on my own, and I liked that I would know where I was staying (the Priceline neighborhoods for Rome were so broad). For some reason, I feel more confident about doing the Priceline bidding thing when it's for the States anyway, so it worked out. Stayed at Hotel Trastevere for 90 euros per night (their low season price) and loved it. Found out about it in the New York Times's 100 hotels under $150. Happy holidays!
  3. For January 7-10, 2010: Bid $55 as user TNTT did, just to see what would happen...even though I saw that his/her bid got rejected...my $55 bid was also rejected. Went up to $62 (TNTT's winning bid) and got the Marriott in the French Quarter, as expected. This is the third time I've used BetterBidding and PRICELINE...we got great deals in Miami and DC last year, thanks to this site. New Orleans here we come!
  4. I've used BetterBidding twice to get awesome PRICELINE deals in Coral Gables and in D.C., where I was familiar with the neighborhoods I wanted...but now that I'm searching for Rome, I'm not sure where to start. I think this is the first time I've posted a question, so I read several of the read before you post posts...here goes. My trip is to Rome, Florence and Venice from November 21-29. I'd like start by booking the first four nights in Rome. Ideally a 4* in the Travestere neighborhood. I realize I can't pick that particular neighborhood, but can someone tell me if Travestere is in "central" and if so, is there is a star rating I could pick in order to have a good chance of getting a hotel in Travestere? That's a lot to ask, but I thought I'd see if someone here is really familiar with the Rome offerings and zones. Just going by what I saw when searching 4* central Rome hotel wins here, I'd say that I'd be happy with a max $125 or max $85 for a central 3*. I don't even know if that's reasonable, so any guidance would be appreciated! Random question unrelated to Rome: What is it when people on the board are trying to identify hotels? Is that a HOTWIRE thing? I'm new to this, and so far I've only used PRICELINE. Thanks!
  5. This bid/win was my first experience with both BetterBidding and PRICELINE. The thought of $50 per night at this hotel (any good hotel) was a foreign concept to me. I kept telling my husband that this was insane. I was blown away...but waited for the fine print or sketchy part to hit. It never did, and I just used the site again (also a holiday weekend, Labor Day) and got an amazing deal at a great hotel in D.C. Yay! Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $50.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $100.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $21.60 (USD) Total Room Cost: $121.60 (USD) Hyatt Regency Coral Gables 50 Alhambra Plaza Coral Gables, FL 33134 305-441-1234 Check-In: Saturday, July 4, 2009-03:00 PM Check-Out: Monday, July 6, 2009-12:00 PM
  6. This is the first time I've posted a win (and only the second time I've used this awesome site), so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly... Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $95.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $190.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $35.67 (USD) Total Room Cost: $225.67 (USD) The Fairfax Hotel At Embassy Row2100 Massachusetts Ave Nw Washington, DC 20008 202-293-2100 Check-In: Saturday, September 5, 2009-03:00 PM Check-Out: Monday, September 7, 2009-12:00 PM I first heard about Better Bidding through a friend who uses the site. At first, I was overwhelmed by the site, but I'm glad I took the time to figure it out. Thanks!
