  1. Oops. I may have been a bit hasty. After reading my post, a friend tried the same date Ontario 3* a day later and got the same hotel for $34. I would suggest start bidding this area @$34 and move up from there using free bids. With the demise of the Country Inn and Suites on Vineyard, the 2.5*-3.5* hotels in this area are all very nice and in the present economic climate can be had for $40 or less via PRICELINE. Remember to use the link provided on this site to start you bidding.

  2. I did verify that this location is now a Motel 6 and fittingly so. It certainly did not measure up as a 2.5* hotel as I have reported in previous posts. Please let us know how Priceline handles this issue.

If you can get out of this deal, take it. There are much better options in the area. Check out my other posts for Ontario area for more information.

For the rest of us who bid the Ontario area, this is good news, or will be once this place is removed from the system. Prior to this news, I would not bid 2.5* in Ontario for fear of getting this hotel. This eliminated a couple of 2.5* hotel options that are very nice including the newish and very stylish Holiday Inn Express.

  3. In a continuing quest to find the bottom line pricing, I've been trying for the last week to hit 3* $34 thinking sooner or later rooms would be released at that price based on a report here on Better Bidding. Not to be. I finally relinquished and went to 3* $35 and got this. I've stayed at this chain in Las Vegas and thought highly of it. From the website, this looks to be the same layout. Very nice rooms with 46" flat screens, kitchen area, computer work station with free internet, sofa, comfortable beds and free continental breakfast in the morning. What more could one ask of a hotel. Great times for travelers........not so great for the hotel industry.

    Your Offer Price.....................................................$35.00

    Taxes & Fees.........................................................$11.39

    Total Charges........................................................$46.39

I always forget to mention this, but of course I used the link from this site to start my bidding. :)

  4. Doing some bottom fishing in Ontario. Recent wins by others including a $34 win for the 3* Hyatt Place @ Ontario Mills Mall had me wondering if a lower price point is possible in these poor economic times. I tried bids of 3* @ $30 and 2.5* @ $32 to without success on this occasion. :)

For future bidding sessions, I'm going to avoid 2.5* bids for fear I might get the Country Inn and Suites, which while it has a nice lobby and dining area, sports some of the worst rooms in the area. Looks like a 3* @ $34 bid might be the magic number for now. That could get the Hyatt or a bump to one the areas 3.5* hotels which are all quite nice. If you're in a hurry, a $40 bid at this level is almost a sure thing. There are no free bids for this area at the 3* star level at present. :)

  5. The win I reported was this very hotel on Vineyard, across the street from the Doubletree. I didin't mention it in my review, but out room included television cable wiring draped alone the wall and across the ceiling. This was a first. On the plus side, the restaurant and the free breakfast were fine. There are so many nicer choices in Ontario that are really inexpensive, I wish this wasn't on the PRICELINE list.

As a side note, this was the second time I had won this hotel. Both visits required a room change due to a major defect. The first time the AC didn't work, the second time the door had been kicked in. Both times I was moved without complaint. I have become gun shy about bidding 2.5* in this area, even though there are several nice 2.5* in the area.

Colfax, thanks for challenging the price. Good to get an idea where the bottom is.

  6. 3.5* $34 and $36 bids were rejected. Used the two free bid zones @3.5* level to place additional bids. This is my favorite of the local PL 3.5* and parking is free. As usual, I used your PRICELINE link to get started.

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night.................................$38.00

    Taxes & Fees.....................................................................$11.81

    Total Charges....................................................................$49.81 :)

  7. Things were a bit tight due to a game on Saturday, but I finally landed a room. Not sure if $42 is anywhere near the low. I generally don't go below 3* but nothing was hitting in previous tries. Reviews are mixed with more recent reviews increasingly positive. Breakfast included.

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night............................$42.00

    Subtotal......................................................................$168.00

    Taxes & Service Fees....................................................$30.21

    Total Charges.............................................................$198.21

  8. On a previous bid session, I tried Ontario 3.5* @ $36, then 3* @ $36. No joy. This session, I tried Ontario 3.5* @ $38, then 3* @ $40. I travel with my son and naturally prefer two beds. This normally is not a problem with most hotels in this area, but on their website, they show an additional charge for rooms with two beds. I'll report back with how they handle the request.

As always, I started the bidding process by using the PRICELINE link on this site.

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night.....................................$40.00

    Taxes & Service Fees.............................................................$12.06

    Total Charges........................................................................$52.06

  9. Accepted on the first bid. I'm noticing more suppliers are participating in the Ontario area. I stay in this area quite a bit and this is the first time I've seen this hotel come up. I was in a hurry, but I suggest you start at $36 and increase you bid in $2 increments to get the lowest price. Ive had good luck with anything over 3* in this area.
