  1. Substantially lower than the direct price on what seemed to be a fairly expensive Friday night in the Burlington, VT area. It was listed as an all-suites hotel in the search results even though that doesn't show up in the listed amenities on the confirmation page. I did use the Better Bidding Hotwire link :-).

    Listed Amenities:

    Free Breakfast

    Airport Shuttle

    Smoke Free Rooms

    Fitness Center

    Restaurant(s)

    Business Center

    Self-service Laundry.

  2. One night at Hyatt Regency Boston. Figured with low occupancy and dropping rack rates in town right now I would start low. First bid of $50 and second of $60 rejected. Got it at $65!!! Lowest price direct is $219.

    Hyatt Regency Boston ****

Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial

    One Avenue De Lafayette

    Boston, Massachusetts 02111

    617-912-1234

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $65.00

    Subtotal: $65.00

    Taxes & Fees: $17.11

    Total Charges*: $82.11

  3. I noticed that as well regarding near beach/beachfront.

Also, I am wondering if the retail rate given by Hotwire corresponds to the Expedia rates listed. The rate Hotwire quotes is $220....on Expedia there is a hotel for $220 that is a 3* with pretty much the same ammenities listed. That hotel is the Palladium Vallarta. Has anything been noticed in the past regarding the rate given by Hotwire ("retail" rate shown) and rates listed at Expedia?

  4. -Started bidding at $45

-Priceline made a counteroffer for $58

-Ignored counteroffer, added rebid zone, rebid for $48, ACCEPTED!

    Your Offer Price: $48.00

    Number of Rooms: 1

    Number of Nights: 1

    Subtotal: $48.00

    Taxes & Service Fees: $13.45

    Total Charges: $61.45

This just goes to show that you should totally ignore and never accept a Priceline counteroffer if you have rebids left. They are meant to maximize $$$ for Priceline and cause an overbid. Also, this reinforces the fact that there is no formula for rebidding based on counteroffers. I only added $3 after Priceline requested an additional $13 and the bid was accepted.
