  1. Thank you for your quick response and help. Tried unsuccessfully to bid up to my max of $110. Are now re evaluating our travel plans in light of costs and may switch to another San Francisco suburb ( Oakland-Eastbay) to be closer to family.
  2. Will be flying into San Francisco airport from the NE slightly after midnight July 25 so I assume I should assume I should bid on a room for July 24 since we will leave hotel the morning of July 25. Would appreciate a bidding strategy for either SFO San Bruno or Burlingame for 3 stars or above. Max would be $110 with a strong preference for under $100. Priceline.express has 3 stars for $179 Burlingame and 3 stars for $124 San Bruno. Hot.wire has no 3 stars for San Bruno and $139 3 star in Burlingame. Thank you.
  3. Used PRICELINE links. Starting bid $50 rejected- Priceline offered to accept my bid if I increased to $65. I refused. Added another zone bid $53 rejected. Added another zone bid $55 ACCEPTED.
  4. Using PRICELINE links starting at $72 and adding 3 more rebid zones got the Doubletree fo $80 excluding taxes etc. Pleased with results since this was last minute.
  5. Bid for 4*Rochester (Downtown) using PRICELINE link and all free bid areas and rejected starting at $60 to $75. Restarted 3.5* Rochester (Downtown) accepted at $60. Great price considering it is graduation week for Univ of Rochester and Lilac Festival.
  6. Changed our dates to 3/27 to 3/31. Used the PRICELINE link and the followed the strategy you recommended. 3* CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE $85 rejected counteroffer +$22 refused 3* CPS,Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTW $85 rejected counter offer +$22 refused 3* CPS,Chelsea, ESB, MSG,TS $85 rejected 3* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, Chelsea $90 rejected 3* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB $90 ACCEPTED Jolly Hotel Madison Towers General poor reviews on tripadvisor. Has a great location so we will deal with it. Hopefully it is better than camping in the rain and cold. Thanks for your help.
  7. Thank you so much for spending so much time developing and sharing the detailed bidding strategy. Followed the format exactly but unfortunately all rejected. Also rejected : 2.5* TS for $85, 2* TS for $85, 3.5 and 3 * in SOHO for $85. Will now reevaluate the trip and will think about HOTWIRE or re bidding later. Will keep you posted on the outcome. Thank you so much for your assistance.
  8. Using PRICELINE link would appreciate your suggestions for bidding strategy for 3*and higher for CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS. Aware of the 3.5* level the Millennium UN is a posbility but we are OK with that. If I fail at bids of less than $100 + taxes will use your suggestion for HOTWIRE. Thank you for your input.
  9. Would find 3* or higher to be acceptable in CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS. or 2.5* MTE, MSG,TS. I would like your suggestions whether to keep trying 2.5* or would I have more success with the 3* with my maximum bid of $100 + taxes because I included more areas. Bidding strategy would be appreciated.
  10. Thank you. As you implied getting a 2.5* hotel for under $100 inclusive would be difficult. Have unsuccessfully tried the following using PRICELINE link: Bid MTE 2.5* $71 rejected (hoping for the Affinia) Add MGS $75 rejected Add Times Square $77 rejected. Thought about adding Central Park but 2.5* Wellington has fair reviews. Not sure what to do. What do you suggest as a bidding strategy? I feel comfortable with 2.5* only in MTE, MGS, TS. Would be willing to try 3* or higher in other areas with a max bid of $100 + taxes. Ideally the lower price would be preferable. Appreciate your advice.
  11. My husband and I will be visiting NYC as tourists 3/29-4/2/2010. We would like to pay around $100 including taxes. Reviewing bids it appears the Affinia 50 (2.5*) NYC MTE is in our price range. ($65-71) We would like to be in TS,MSG,CP,MTE. What suggestions do you have for bidding on 2.5* properties. Not sure what price to start at and how to progress. Winning bids for higher rated properties are around $95-140. Always use the link for PRICELINE for bidding. Thank you for your help.
  12. Dates for stay are 10/22-10/23. PRICELINE listed the property as 2 1/2*
  13. Tried multiple bids for 3* in Maumee and Perrysburg from $37 to $43 all rejected. Added 2 1/2* for Maumee $37 rejected finally accepted at $39 when added Perysburg 2 1/2* Country Inn and Suites is a new hotel (2008) and has good reviews.
  14. We snagged a 3* Wyndham Drake Oak Brook for $35! Will try this part of the Chicago metro rather than pricier Tinley Park. Hopefully the savings will make it worthwhile. Used the PRICELINE link to make the bid. Thanks for your help.
  15. Sorry for the confusion. We will be driving into Hyde Park everyday. We picked Tinley Park because it is on the southside of Chicago and is within a reasonable and highway fast commute to Hyde Park. I'll look into Matteson. Will also try Burr Ridge and consider Oak Brook as a cost effective alternative. Thank you for the feedback on Oak Brook. Right now it looks like there is a winning bid for a 2* in Tinley Park for $55.
  16. We will be visiting Hyde Park area of Chicago. Have in the past stayed at the Hampton Inn Tinley Park for $80 gov't rate but decided to try PRICELINE. We will be driving more 9 hours from the East coast . Have unsuccessfully bid for a 2.5-3* in Tinley Park $35-46. Have seen only one successful bid for $100. We would like to stay in a 2.5* or higher for $55 or less. Would like your input on what other suburbs to try ( Midway or Oak Brook?). Would like to avoid the northern suburbs since we don't want to battle traffic after a long ride and would like to be approx. 20 miles from Hyde Park. Thank you for your help.
