  1. Actually I went to Rapid city on October 2006 in order to see Mount Rushmore et al. I tried to bid on priceline but as others have reported it is very tough to get a win at a reasonable price. In the end I got a good rate ($50 +tax) at Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Rapid City 2321 NORTH LACROSSE STREET RAPID CITY, SD 57702 605-394-0017 Mount Rushmore was brilliant!
  2. It could be too early to try for a weekend at present. If you have to be there for that Friday then I'd book a cancellable back up and try later (April?) and also keep a look out for other wins. Please remember the support links for HOTWIRE and PRICELINE Good luck
  3. Therein maybe the answer... Try two or three days over that weekend with HOTWIRE to see if a 5* pops up.
  4. You may have a problem with this being a Friday night and you only want one night. What does HOTWIRE show for that date?
  5. Welcome to Betterbidding. Glad you got a god price at the Palazzo. With more experience you may have got a lower winning bid, but you still have a bargain. Enjoy the stay and if you have time, report back. Cheers
  6. Please start a new Thread for this win. It helps keep the board tidy and documents different wins Thank you
  7. Hi. I don't know where you've been looking but HOTWIRE has a Kitchenette icon. Look here http://www.hotwire.com/pop-up/gen-hotel-amenities-popup.jsp or look at the attachment. HOTWIRE will let you search for 4 rooms with 8 adults and 8 children (works for me anyway) When I do that the 2* comes up with those amenities at $39.00 HOTWIRE only lists some of the amenities to protect the hotel ID and it (quite rightly) expects that if people find 'extra' ones when they arrive they will not mind.
  8. If you could start a NEW THREAD we'll be happy to help. 5 zones are (currently): Sorrento Mesa Max 2.5* San Ysidro Max 2* North County Coastal Max 2.5* National City - Chula Vista Max 2* East County Max 2*
  9. Yes. But was this the date of the actual stay?
  10. No: This method is fairly accurate but is not 100% guaranteed. In the Vacation Packages the hotels are not in any defined areas so several may match the amenities shown in the opaque offerings. So in this case you have to do some more research to determine where they are in relation to the opaque hotel. Also some times the amenities shown on the package do not exactly match the opaque hotels. In the packages some times lower star levels are not shown. However it is the first step in trying to identify hotels.
  11. Welcome to Betterbidding. Probably about $126-130 would have sufficed as the counter offer (of $22) is usually about twice the amount you need to up the bid to win.Still you have a good price. Enjoy the stay
  12. Welcome to Betterbidding. Excellent first post and great price! Hope you enjoy the stay.
  13. I've sorted both posts. :) Is the original question still valid?
  14. Does HOTWIRE show any 5* availability and at what price? What is the retail price at the Venetian\ Palazzo ?
  15. Interesting to note, if that is the case now. Not that I've used that 'feature' :) Enjoy the (unexpected) stay.
  16. Welcome to Betterbidding. Congrats on your win and thank you for using the HOTWIRE support link. Enjoy the stay.
  17. Welcome to BetterBidding. Looking at the previously reported hotwire wins this hotel has not been identified. Maybe some one else can help If you choose to use HOTWIRE then please use the support link. Good luck.
  18. If the B&B is cancellable (without a fee) then IMHO I'd book it. This will give you breathing space to wait for better offers nearer to the date. You may get lucky with a hotel promotion that pops up every now and again.
  19. Welcome to BetterBidding. Looking at the previously reported Hotwire Hotel Wins this is a match for the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate That is my best guess BTW You did see this paragraph at the top of the hotel lists... If you choose to use HOTWIRE then please use the support link. Yes and there are NO refunds..... If your plans are firm AND you are happy with the price and possible hotel then go for it.As yours is a long stay you could (just to build confidence) build a HOTWIRE package for yor dates and see what hotels come up. The Omni fits the bill here too. Or, with slightly more risk you could just look for the first week and last week separate and if the same hotel comes up in both you could buy the first week which should confirm the hotel. If it is OK then buy the second week (make sense?) Good luck.
  20. Welcome to BetterBidding. Not exactly. As per the paragraph at the top of each hotel list If you have seen recent wins with priceline that grade the Hilton Washington Towers as a 3* then you could assume that bidding 4* will not get the aforementioned hotel. It is still a RISK though. The TA reviews section (or lack of it) can be a help in identifying hotels with similar amenities. If you build a package for your dates then you'll see that the 4* that matches the amenities for the HOTWIRE opaque side (which I see at $109) is the Palomar. So IMHO the 4* I see with Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access for $109 for those dates in April is the Palomar. If you choose to use HOTWIRE then please use the support link. Good luck.
  21. Thank you for reporting the win. I've added this new hotel to the Ft Worth Priceline Hotel List Enjoy the stay and if you have time report back on the hotel. Thanks.
  22. Welcome to Betterbidding. IMHO priceline is NOT a good bargain in Las Vegas. There are always offers direct from the casinos that easily beat priceline. Also, hotel rates vary enormously over the week, with weekends usually more expensive. In order for a priceline win to be successful the rate must match the lowest available during the stay. So if the weekend priceline lowest winning bid is a lot higher than the week day priceline winning bid you will pay the highest rate over the whole stay. Not much saving if any for a non refundable hotel. For long stays it is usually the best option to split your bid. What does HOTWIRE have for your dates?
