  1. I've been trying to get this for a 6 night stay beginning on 15th until 20th Nov. for about a month now. Tried various options by splitting up the dates into one\two and three night stays. Maximum bid has been $45, any higher and I could end up at the Doubletree Finally got lucky with this ONE night, but no luck with bids immediately after that. I'll now wait 72 hours and try a couple of two night splits and if successfull, will try the 'add a night' feature. Unless anyone else has any bright ideas... Ho hum
  2. Only needed one night for an early start. This 2 * is a new addition to PL. Research showed it comes up at about $25.00 So $25 was my first bid and was successful. Taxes and fees were slightly over $8.00. Hotel has free parking and a complimentary shuttle but I'll report when I get back
  3. A recent bid (about end of Sept) for 11th to 15th Nov was finally successful at $175. for LM. I think they seriously overbid for LM,but their bidding strategy (for what it was)showed that up to $160 didn't get MTWor MTE Rates do change though and as Thereuare suggests I'd expect that $140 should suffice, maybe even less if you bid when the convention releases their hold on the hotels (possibly 17-19th October). Good luck
  4. I am bidding for the 18th -20th of NOVEMBER. There's a Chemical show on at the Javit Centre 18-20th .November October events in NYC are here Javits Centre October also apparently the World Series is that weekend. $140 seems to be the successful amount for bids for October dates.
  5. Had been bidding for TWO nights 19th -to 20th November inclusive in MTW for about 6 x 72 hrs. since about August. Basically started at about $70 dollars and increased bids as follows:UM,MTS,UES,UWS Did NOT include MTE as I didn't want the Grand Hyatt at this early stage. Successful Bids of $75 are not unusual for this time of year Set my limit to $90 as it's way ahead of time. Didn't get any luck,so for my last bid I chose only the one night viz the 20th. Succeded at $90. I immediately bid again for the 19th but got no luck. Subsequent 72 hr bids later and I still no result. Found out through some research there's a BIG convention in town from 18th to 20th and about 45 hotels are on the conference list. Looks like they will release inventory about 17th October so hope to get lucky then. Mind you I may look at Jersey city for a LOT cheaper option. (I WON'T be driving.... :) )
  6. Ah, I see what you meant. Thanks for the help.
  7. Thanks for all the help so far. OK, so here's what we know:- 1 The Hotels web-site says it's full on the 19th. 2 The Chem organiser says their discounted rate is not guaranteed after 17th Oct 3 The Hotel booking agency (who are?) says you can book at the 'discount rate' so long as there are rooms available. So what have 'we' discovered, cause I'm confused? P.S. I don't understand this
  8. I got a reply back from the Chem Show Ops manager (very quick) saying that after 17th October the show discount rates may not be honoured. So I assume conference rooms will be released around that date.
  9. Thanks for the speedy reply. I have checked the web-site and couldn't find a deadline re hotel bookings. The registration fee is at its max on October 21st so I would expect the hotels would release inventory around this time if not before. I've e-mailed the organisers to see if they have a deadline for hotel booking on the off chance they'll tell me!
  10. This question is like "How long's a piece of string?", but I'll ask it anyway. When does a hotel release pre-booked conference rooms to the general public? I'm trying to book NYC for 2 nights, 19th and 20th November 03. I got the 20th, no problem about 2 months back ($95 Marriott New York Marquis ) but couldn't book the 19th, I assume due to the Chemical conference at the Javits center 18-20th November. Their list of conference hotels is quite staggering and I assume they have block booked at the MM. The hotel web-site shows it is full for 18th and 19th but rooms are available for the 17th and 20th. So now I'm keeping my eyes peeled for sucessful bids around that time + bidding every week or so. However I'm concerned that this strategy may mean I miss the release date, so any clues as to when I should be looking would be appreciated. Ta
