  1. I bid for 4* hotels up to $180 and stopped after that. Some 4* hotels in Hotwire were going for around $200 so I just got one from there because then at least I could pick my area. I ended up getting the Park Plaza Riverbank London in Westminster for $195/night. It looks like a nice hotel so I'm happy with that. It's a bit outside the area I wanted but it was the cheapest one. Thanks for your help!
  2. I was rejected again and my maximum as $300/night for a 5*. I'm going to start trying 4*'s tomorrow. What price should I start at ? $150 with $5 increments again?
  3. Ok. I closed that thread saying I didn't end up booking anything. Today I tried again for a 5* and went up to $225 CAD/night but was rejected again for all of them. I thought I would be based on what everyone said here but I thought I'd check anyway on the offchance I'm able to get something. I'll try again tomorrow starting at $250 CAD/night and see if I get anything there. I'll let you guys know what happens then.
  4. Just wanted to let everyone know I didn't end up going on this trip therefore I have no current update.
  5. I didn't end up going on the Huntsville trip which is why I didn't update it. Sorry about that. I guess I'll try for a few more days for the 5* and see if I can get anything around the upper area. If not, then I'll move back down to the 4*. Is there a big difference between 4* and 5* hotels in London?
  6. I'm looking for a 5* hotel in the Kensington/Earl's Court or Chelsea/Knightsbridge area for June 25 - July 1. I already have all the rebidding zones and just tried a round of bidding (using the Priceline link here of course). I started at $145 and stopped at $170, all of which were rejected. I thought it was better to start lower since I have a bit of time before the trip. I was wondering if this is really low for a 5* in these areas? Should I be starting much higher? From what I was seeing it looked like people were getting 5*'s from anywhere from $140 - $350. My max budget is $320/night but of course I'd like something lower if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for the help! I have no idea what that means right now :P But I'm sure it'll make more sense while I'm there. I'm also wondering do you know if there's an internet cafe nearby? They charge almost $15/day for internet and there doesn't seem to be any free wireless in the lobby so I'm hoping to find something cheaper.
  8. All my hotel stars were for 4*. 1)1st bid - $60 for Greater Chicago was rejected 2) Was offered to re-bid at $79 but I declined this. 3) 2nd bid - $65 for Greater Chicago + Millenium Park was rejected 4) 3rd bid - $70 for Greater Chicago + Millenium Park + North Michigan Ave. I got the Sheraton Chicago Hotel Tower. This isn't too bad but based on the map it doesn't seem to be too near a subway station which kinda sucks.
  9. I won the Key Bridge Marriott hotel in Arlington, VA for $58/night. I bid $50 and Priceline rewards put in an extra $8/night because I was staying for 4 days or longer. Initially I tried for 4* hotels but was unable to get anything up to $65. So when I ran out of rebids I lowered to a 3.5* and got that. Thanks for your help!
  10. I do not know that this is the only Resort rated property in the zone. I took it from that list and from the ratings on PRICELINE when I looked to book them normally, without bidding. I looked at the ratings there and assumed those were the ones available. I'm not too sure what to do now then. . .
  11. For dates I'm looking at July 2 - 4. I am looking for a hotel/resort that had activities like canoeing and kayaking and such. From what I gathered from the listings on PRICELINE this includes resort hotels and selected 3-star hotels. I didn't see any 3.5 ratings. I'm willing to pay more for having those amenities, over $100. From what I gathered, Deerhurst Resort seems to be the only one listed in "resorts" for the muskoka region but there are hotels/resorts that do and do not have outdoor activities in 3-star hotels. My current assessment of the situation is I could play it safe and click resorts and then add a new region every time if I need to increase my bid. Since Deerhurst is the only resort I know that my result is always going to be Deerhurst. Otherwise I'd have to gamble a bit and also put in 3-star and hope I get a hotel/resort that has those outdoor activities but they might not have them. What do you think?
  12. This is my second time using Priceline. The first time was a trip to Montreal and I used this forum to help and it was very successful! Of course, I used the PRICELINE link :) This time I'm thinking of going to the Muskoka region in Ontario and would like to stay at the JW Marriott Rousseau, Delta Grand Resort or Deerhurst resort (in that order) but I'm unsure of what conditions to put in when bidding. I do not want to stay at Hidden Valley Resort though I know I don't really have a choice on the matter. I understand the Bidding Again procedure but am unsure what to do. The above hotels/resorts are under "resorts" and "3 star" but other hotels are also under 3 start. I'm thinking that I only click "Resorts" and click "Huntsville" and if it's not successful I continue to add on the other areas after that - Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Muskoka Lake. Could someone confirm this for me or tell me if there's another way for me to do this? Or have any ideas on what to do? Thank you very much and I will let you know what happens when/if I start bidding.
  13. This is my first time using PRICELINE and I've been trying this for a few times now. Today I finally found success for 3.5* Hyatt Regency in Montreal from Aug. 14/09 - Aug. 16/09 for $73 US/night. I tried it for 2 days and today was the third day. On the first day I went up to $70 and on the second day I went up to $80 and didn't get anything. Today (the 3rd day) I started at $71. They told me to rebid $22 more but instead I rebid at $73 and won it. I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not but on the first and second day I was trying at night, 8pm and 10pm EST respectively. Today I did it in the afternoon, at 2pm EST and this is the rate I got.
  14. Hi everyone, I'm new here and have just started using PRICELINE. I've bid yesterday and today on a 3.5* hotel in Montreal for Aug. 14 - 16. Based on the other posts here I expected to win something for around $70/night. I started at $60 and made it to $70 last night and then bid again today and went all the way to $80 and didn't get anything. I was using the rebidding technique described in another forum in terms of star levels. For Day 1 my bids were $62, $64, $65, $66, $70. For Day 2 my bids were $72, $74, $76, $78, $80. I looked and saw someone else got a 3.5* hotel for the same dates for $75 and posted earlier this afternoon. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Should I wait a few days and try again or just get one off of HOTWIRE for $82/night?
