  1. I used the BB links to start my bidding at PRICELINE.

I had been trying to get the Marriott in Wailea for a few days but I didn't have success up to $155/night for these dates. That was disappointing as we enjoyed our stay last year and I'd seen some bookings on the board that got the same resort for $95 - $115 for nearby dates. I know not all dates are the same for prices but I didn't want to spend $175/night for the same room we got last year for $95.

So using the BB Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, I looked to see what other resorts people were getting in other areas for those dates. We don't know anything about Kauai or Lihue but the Tripadvisor reviews all sounded very positive, especially for ~$110/night.

I just did one bid, one area, one * level and was accepted at $110.

    Kauai Marriott Resort

    Sept. 29th to Oct. 7th (8 nights)

    $110 / night

$1021.04 (USD) for 8 nights with all fees included

  2. Well this is a disappointing thread. Last year I scored the Wailea Marriott for $95 / night starting Sept. 18th: Priceline Maui

It was very much worth it. It is dated but it is surrounded by a much higher level of hotel as it is on a beautiful stretch of beach, has an adult-only pool, good service, and with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We really want to go back so I will wait it out and see if they start releasing reasonable room prices for Sept. or Oct. soon. I would go up to $125/night but past that I'd start looking at other beaches.

  3. I've booked the same room there now four times; the last three times were either $63 or $65. The first time it was a busier season and it was $75.

This time I just bid $65 and that was that. I had already wasted 3 bidding rounds that session trying for a different district so I just put in $65, added the Coal Harbour district, and I assumed I would get the Marriott again.

I just phoned them to see if I could get an early check-in and they said they are fully booked so they must be selling a lot of these rooms.

  5. Thanks, Betterbidding! I used the PRICELINE link to start my bid.

My original plan was for the Waikoloa Marriott but I didn't want to get one of the other properties that was shown for my dates. So with help from the calendar (and TripAdvisor) I changed my goal to the Wailea Marriott.

First bid: $90, not accepted, offered a re-bid at $112, declined

Second bid: added another zone, increased to $95, accepted

    Sept. 13, 2009 to Sept 23. 2009

    Wailea-Makena, Maui, Hawaii

    Wailea Beach Marriott Resort

    $95 x 10 nights + taxes/fees = $1,093.24 + free flight on miles = awesome
