  1. Thanks - yeah, some people really don't like the modern design of hotels like the Thompsons... dark hallways, smaller rooms, minimalist fixtures, etc... I guess some peole just like their hotels to look like Holiday Inns from the 1980s.. Personally I like the style (I'm used to it when going to New York City) and the Thompson here in Toronto anyway is a pretty high quality hotel, so I think it will be pretty good actually! Certainly can't beat the location...
  2. I guess I should have been more specific.. I went for the Hollwood option since the Beverly Hills 3.5* result disappeared from the list over the weekend. Price for the Hollywood location (Roosevelt) dropped a dollar to $142 too.
  3. Thanks - used the HOTWIRE link and sure enough, it was the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Customer ratings don't look very impressive, but the location is perfect... I'm sure I'll live :)
  4. Hi BetterBidding! Curious about a Hotwire result for 1-night in LA - Feb 23rd. Hoping to narrow down the hotel possibilities. My 2 options: Hollywood area - 4* / $143, amenities: -fitness -pool -restaurant -hi-speed internet -business centre Beverly Hills / West Hollywood area - 3.5* / $158, amenities exactly the same as above. Any advice? The west end of Hotwire's Hollywood area map would be OK but it extends pretty far east towards downtown, which I'm hoping to avoid...
  5. UPDATE: I just tried the Hotwire booking again, making one change - # of guests to 1 instead of the default of 2 (since it's just me anyway!). The booking went through (I used this board's link) and it was indeed Le Centre Sheraton! Clearly I should have booked this last week when it showed $124/night...
  6. Hi again... Well, I checked this morning and the price went up to $149 for this same search result... Yikes! I know it might bounce down and up again, but I didn't want to take any chances so tried booking it, but then I got this message: We're sorry, but the hotel you selected is no longer available. Your card has not been charged. There are some great hotels below. Does this happen often? Now I don't see any 4-star hotels at all except a 4.5 one for over $200/night... WTF??
  7. Hi again - sorry, I forgot to close out that Kingston thread... just did that now and clicked the HOTWIRE link through to check today's offer for those dates... Everything is the same except it's dropped a dollar to $142/night. Any ideas on Hotels and if I should wait a bit longer before booking? Thanks!
  8. Sorry- forgot to follow up on this thread! Given the price I wound up not booking a hotel through HOTWIRE at all - we found a really nice B&B (Belvedere Hotel) also downtown for about the same price anyway...
  9. Howdy! Been watching 4* in Downtown Montreal for 3 nights, Sept 30 to Oct 3rd. Currently showing $143/night, although was at $133 on Friday... On that note - in your experience do Hotwire prices keep bouncing up and down closer to the date, or once they start to rise, do they keep going up? Wondering how much longer I should wait... In terms of IDing the hotel - maybe this is the Sheraton? It's showing amenties as: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, Hi-Speed Internet, Spa Thanks!
  10. Thanks folks! I think it is probably the Holiday Inn waterfront. Willing to take my chances - will let you know how it goes and will use the HOTWIRE link from this forum :)
  11. Haven't seen anyone mention Kingston, ON on this forum, so this is a long-shot, but trying to ID this hotel: June 19th (1 night) - no smoking / fitness / pool / restaurant / business centre / laundry / high speed internet. - $136 Hoping it's the Radisson or the Holiday Inn right downtown on the Waterfront, but it could be a hotel in the outskirts of town which is no good for my trip :) Thanks!
  12. Wow, the price for the same search just dropped to $93 today... Same amenities listed. I booked it (via the forum HOTWIRE link), and it was Club Quarters Gracechurch
  13. Amenities are Restaurant, Business Centre, and Internet. 2 nights March 28-30. I've seen prices go up and down a few dollars for the same listing, but I'm going to book soon - any ideas? Kinda hoping it's the Hilton Islington.. Thanks!
  14. I just booked it (via your HOTWIRE link) and it was indeed the Sheraton, which is great - I got the hotel I wanted and saved a bunch of money... Thanks!
  15. I'm also searching downtown Toronto (WEST) 4* for Oct 16-18, and I got: 4* / $105 / non-smoking rooms, fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre and high speed internet (in that order) Also shows 600+ reviews and 4* rating from TripAdvisor - so I assume this would be a match for the Sheraton? What are the chances it could be something else? I need a room pretty much in that exact area, so the Shearton or Hilton are ideal, Hyatt would be OK, but not any others... I realize Hotwire is always a bit of a gamble, but the Sheraton seems like a really likely match in this case :) Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the info! Yes, I was still seeing the MTC / $142 offer with those 3 amenities, so I booked it (via your HOTWIRE link) since that's the area I wanted and it seemed like a good deal. The hotel was "City Club Hotel" on 44th St, which was a surprise since I haven't seen it on any of your 4* lists. Looks like a nice small boutique-ish hotel in a good spot. Unfortunately I've read that the 'petite' rooms (which I'm sure is my default booking) are super-tiny, so I'm going to try to upgrade since I was hoping for a more 'standard' room type. Still a good deal though...
  17. Hi - I'm a newbie here but really like this site! I'm looking to book a 4* or above hotel in NYC Aug 14-16, central Manhattan ideally. Budget is $150-200/night. It's fluctuated, but I want to book today and here's what I'm seeing: 4* - $142 / MTC / restaurant, business centre, hi-speed internet 4*- $149 / Downtown-Soho / fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre, hi-speed internet (pretty sure this is the millenium hilton) 4* - $163 / Empire State area / business centre (only amenity listed!) 4* - *172 / MTE / fitness centre, restaurant, business centre, hi-speed internet Would be willing to do a 3.5* if the value was really good and hotel was OK. Any potential IDs for those, or suggestions?
