  1. I have been watching the 4* offerings at the Austin Arboretum area- there are only 3 hotels in that rating. I tried a bid of $95 and was immediately offered a $131. However, the Express deal was running $118. I waited a day and the 4* Express Deal was now $119 so thought I would just go with it. I ended up with the Renaissance Austin. Looking forward to visiting again after many years. Here are the amenities showing: Free Internet (in Public Area) Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Outdoor Pool Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible
  2. I think the amenities showing were pets allowed, indoor/outdoor pool, business center, restaurant fitness center.
  3. Saw a 4* Very Good rating on PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals in Downtown Dallas for $102. So excited to get the Fairmont- I have not stayed there before and love the location. Posted amenities included: WiFi available in all areas Outdoor Pool Fitness Center Business Center Pets Allowed Restaurant Non-smoking Rooms Valet Parking
  4. I actually got this $75/night rate on the Hotwire Hot Rate hotels. I was pretty sure it was the Magnolia since I think that is currently the only boutique hotel listed. Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access
  5. After watching several sites for a couple of weeks, I finally pulled the trigger and bid $60 for a 4* in downtown Fort Worth- got the Worthington. That is some deal! Haven't stayed there in about a decade so am looking forward to an overnight stay. This is a great location, just up the block from Reata- a favorite- and close to all that Sundance Square has to offer.
  6. I had been thinking of staying in Austin for a couple of nights and was watching the different sites to see what price range was being offered. Bid 5* for $79, then 41/2* for $81, then won the Hilton Austin for 4*, $83. Always worth taking a chance on higher stars, less money but am quite happy with my win. Have not stayed at this Hilton property but am interested/excited to see how it goes. Since I live in Georgetown, this is a bit of a "staycation" but will be fun for the holidays, especially since I work the holiday weekend. I tried to capture a larger amenities list but this was all I could get. Amenities include: Pet Friendly Outdoor Pool Non-Smoking Gym Business Center
  7. Sheraton isn't a bad property but, like so many large convention type hotels, it just loses something. I haven't stayed there in a few years so will report back after my trip and let you know what it is like now days.
  8. I have tried bidding over the last several days in Southlake for 3.5*, hoping for Marriott Solana, because I have an event in Grapevine the morning of October 8. I knew the odds were fairly slim due to only 2 hotels in that vicinity. My last $87 bid for was rejected- as expected. I decided to look at 4* in the DFW area (although I was concerned about getting one of the airport Hyatt's). I looked at the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals out of curiosity and there was a 4*, $77, free parking. However, when I clicked on it, got the "Pricing and inventory changes often and the deal you selected is no longer available" message popped up. So- I bid $77 for a DFW North 4* and got the Hilton DFW Lakes. I am pleased to try a new property and this should suit my purposes for a visit to Grapevine and the Mid-Cities area.
  9. A friend and I decided to spend the pre-Halloween weekend in Fort Worth. My first 4* $90 bid was rejected. I added in 3.5* and raised to $95 and got the Sheraton. Not my favorite downtown FW hotel but beggars can't be choosers on a TCU home game weekend. I look forward to coming back "home" and showing my friend some of my favorite Cowtown places.
  10. I bid $100 for a 4* Dallas Downtown hotel and got the new Westin right off. It will be my first stay at this property. Amenities listed are: Free Internet (in Room) Pet Friendly Pool Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible
  11. Since I was getting nowhere for a good bid on Priceline in downtown Fort Worth tonight, I took a look at Hotwire, When I went to bed last night, the hotel I knew had to be the Hilton (4*, no pool gives it away) was showing $85. Although I was tempted by the $141 4.5* offering (down from $219 with pool and spa- probably the Omni), I decided to go with the "sure thing" in my price range. Down a dollar to $84. And yep, it is the Hilton on Main. I stayed there in April, really like the location, updated room and amenities. Here's the amenities that were shown on the Hotwire offering: free internet, restaurant(s), pet friendly, business center, fitness center, internet access, accessible for the visually impaired, in-accessiblility
  12. Although I have had better bids in Seattle in the past, considering the price ranges I am seeing right now, I am happy with my win. I have been looking and bidding off and on since I booked the trip and I am happy with the location close to Safeco.
  13. I decided to look for a 4* downtown Fort Worth hotel for Easter Sunday. Immediately won an $85 bid for the Hilton . I look forward to my return visit to Sundance Square.
  14. I decided to look for a 4* downtown Dallas hotel for Easter weekend. Immediately won an $85 bid for the Adolphus. I have stayed there before and couldn't be happier with the win.
  15. I had stayed here in 2005 and was curious to see how it lived up to my memories. I was a little concerned about recent mixed reviews but not enough to panic when it was the winner for my Priceline bid. I called a few days before our weekend trip to confirm reservation and to submit my room preference request. Glad I called- the desk clerk, April, couldn't find my reservation. She asked me to email my Priceline confirmation and, after about an hour, April emailed me back to say the reservation was fine. I asked her to put down "high floor, away from elevators, city view" for room preference. As expected, getting into valet parking on Saturday afternoon was a bit of a delay but nothing out of the ordinary for a large downtown hotel. Yes, it does cost $28 a night but as long as you are expecting it, no big deal. Check in line was long- we there right at the start of 3PM check in- but the front desk clerks were pleasant and efficient so we moved along quickly. The clerk put us in 1513, two double beds, high floor, away from elevators, city view- yea!The room was not huge but plenty big and the beds were very comfortable. Yes, bathroom is a little dated but clean, nice vanity and a good rain shower head. In room double cup coffee maker and refrigerator, DVD player (although non-techie sister had to figure out the wires when it didn't work for home movies DVD), iron and blow dryer in nice walk in closet, plenty of plug ins for phone chargers. I see what folks mean about having to order ice from room service but I kind of like not having to hear an ice maker all night or people roaming the hallways in search of an ice machine/vending room. I thought the carpets and furniture were just fine. The public areas are some of the best in Dallas with so many historical and architectural details. We ate in two of the three restaurants, the Rodeo Bar and Grill and the Bistro. Both were quite good, reasonably priced with attentive service. We were pleased with the pleasant and professional valet and desk staff. Yes, valet service took about 15 minutes getting the car but, again, if you are expecting that, it was no big deal. For the price, location, pleasant and helpful staff, I would certainly recommend the Adolphus. I know the hotel has a planned renovation in 2014 and I am sure everyone, staff and guests alike, looks forward to upgrades, particularly technical ones. I plan to be back. Three minor points that we didn't even remember to mention when we saw housekeepers- only one washcloth the first day, only one water glass both days and no coffee cup replacements second day.
  16. Just started working on getting a 4* room in downtown Dallas a few days ago for a sister's weekend trip. I was playing around with it, obviously bidding fairly low each day since the visit is over a month out. Really didn't want the Sheraton but knew it was a possibility (just so big and impersonal).Have stayed at the Hyatt Regency for $63 before and did my one Adolphus visit from a $99 Expedia bid many years ago. SO excited when I bit the bullet, bid $80 and the Adolphus popped up! The lobby alone is worth it.I did use PRICELINE through Better Bidding- you guys provide so much good intel when looking to see what folks have bid recently. Thanks for all the help over the years.I will post a review in November.

  18. We have won this hotel before when bidding in the HEB MidCities so I wasn't surprised that it was the Holiday Inn rather than the Hyatt Place in Hurst that I wanted. Other than the continuing madness of construction on all highways in the area, it isn't a bad place to stay. Just have to be patient and alert because the traffic patterns change all the time. Husband is taking a cab to/from a NYE party so he is a happy with the location.
  19. Amenities include: Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Spa, Restaurants Booked a room for my husband during the Cowtown Marathon. FW is fairly easy to figure out as far as hotel choices go- the Sheraton is almost always the winner and the spa in the amenities is a dead give away. Since the Sheraton is the host hotel and is $130 on the marathon website, I thought it was worth checking out.I considered doing Priceline but decided to go with the sure thing. Yep, $89, 3.5* and it's the Sheraton! Just remember, the "tax recovery charges and fees" is fairly high--$21.37 for this go round- so $110 total. I used the HOTWIRE link for my bid.
  20. I had bid $50 on Priceline and won the Hyatt Regency for the last home game of the Cardinals season. Could not have ben more pleased with the hotel and staff. Valet parking was quite easy and check in was personable and problem free. I called a few days ahead of time and asked for king bed and high floor- both requests were granted. Our room on the 15th floor was quiet, clean and overlooked the Arch. There was a mini-fridge, something you see less and less now days. Bathroom was well organized with a glassed in shower stall and rain shower head with good pressure. We had a few drinks in the bar after the game and service there was quick and attentative. After a very comfortable nights sleep, we checked out on the television. Concerierge pointed us in the right direction and we walked a few blocks to the 8th and Pine metro station for a train to the airport. For the price, location and service level, I would definitely stay here again.
  21. We are going to the last weekend Cardinals game on a Sunday and flying out the next day. Had been watching everyone get the Hyatt for less than $50 but was having no luck. Tried again today after waiting a few weeks- bid $50 and got it right off the bat (baseball pun intended :) )We stayed here years ago when it was the Adam's Mark- great location. We are looking forward to our visit! I did bid through the Better Bidding PRICELINE link.
  22. Pricelined the Marriott City Center for $80 and we were quite happy with it.Definitely a business hotel- small lobby but good size room. Lived up to the 3.5* rating. Bathroom was basic but bed was quite comfortable.I liked how quiet it was, even when sirens went by. We used the valet and service was quite prompt.Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. We had a nightcap in the bar, Mez on Broadway- very nice with good selection.Location is great for walking around or taking the light rail.
  23. We were delighted to get the Edgewater on Priceline for $85/night for three nights. We expected and got a city view, queen size with only the fireplace for heat and no chest of drawers. So, none of these things surprised us or took the shine off of staying there. And we had no trouble with the train noise. We loved being able to sit in the bar or the huge lobby and see the Sound. Can't beat location for taking the bus or walking around. Very pleasant and helpful desk staff and quiet housekeepers in the morning. Our room was small, as expected, but the bathroom was terrific especially the natural rock shower. We did find that taking the stairs (we were on the 4th floor) was quite easy and quicker than the elevator most times.
  24. I Pricelined for a 4* and got the Hotel Monaco for $82. Had read reviews previously and was very pleased that it lived up to everyone's positive ratings. We were on the 9th floor in a corner room and it was huge. The bathroom was also very large with big windows and plantation shutters. The furnishings were a snazzy oriental red lacquer with a desk that had plenty of electrical outlets- don't always find that. Best king size hotel bed I think we have ever had. The room was so quiet; I don't think I ever heard another guest. The housekeepers are also very quiet and pleasant. Valet was prompt; front desk staff was helpful, polite and professional. Didn't spend any time there but the lobby is very lovely with a fireplace and a variety of sitting areas. Used the business center for free to print boarding passes- very easy.
  25. I started out with a $70/4* bid for a downtown Seattle hotel on the day I needed it. Priceline popped up with the "if you bid $82 you are guaranteed a room" message. Jumped on it and was SO happy to see Hotel Monaco pop up. What a great place. I'll write a separate review but must say best 4* we have stayed in from a Priceline bid yet.
