  1. I see a 3* hotel in Miami (Central South Beach) with the following amenities: Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms High Speed Internet Golf Tennis Can someone identify this please?
  2. Selected 4* Union Square East $86: Rejected +Fisherman's Wharf $91: Rejected +Civic Center $96: Rejected +SF North $101: Accepted With taxes/fees ($58): $361 Expecting the smallest room, no view :) We will try to get an upgrade to a larger room.
  3. Started session using the PRICELINE link from this forum. 3.5* Buffalo-Amherst (only zone with 3.5*) $45 rejected added re-bid zone $50 rejected added re-bid zone $56 rejected added re-bid zone $61 rejected added re-bid zone $66 accepted.
  4. It is most important to be close to the airport: we have an early morning flight to catch. Free shuttles are not as important. Proximity to downtown Boston is not necessary. Which zone should I bid in? Thanks.
  5. Finally won! 2009 September 13 - 15 3.5* Sheraton Boston Hotel in Copley Square - Theater District zone for $86 Paid a little more than I am happy with, but relieved to tick this off the checklist! @thereuare: I can start a new thread with this if you want. I had previously received a counter-offer for $22 over my bid of $81. I increased this up to $86 today and was rejected. Immediately started a new session (from your PRICELINE) link. 3.5* Copley Square + Quincy Market $76 - rejected; added a re-bid zone $82 - rejected; annded a re-bid zone $86 - accepted! Note that the same bid for the same zones/star rating was rejected about 5 minutes earlier, when I responded to a 2-day old counter offer. Thank you very much for suggesting that I should restart the session. FYIY, I received this offer from PL: Extend Your Stay at the Same Nightly Rate Happy with the hotel we've selected for you? For the same great nightly rate, you can stay a little longer and kick back and relax. Hurry, this option is only available for a limited time!
  6. Makes sense! Could the NYC situation be a spill-over from the New York Fashion Week? Planning to wait a few days and see if something new comes up. Is there a way to hold on to the counter-offer, and also try from scratch again in 2-3 days. So, if no cheaper options come up I will bid higher, closer to the counter offer. How long does PL's counter-offer usually remain valid? Thanks!
  7. I tried the following strategy: 3.5* Quincy Market + Copley Square $67 (rejected) added re-bid zone $76 (rejected) added re-bid zone $81 (counter offer to bid +$22) Bidded up in $1 increments till $84... then gave up with great frustration! My max bid is $85. I see wins at under $70 about a week before these dates. Should I wait a few days before continuing? I am having the same experience with NYC. It seems like Priceline has a limited inventory from September 13 - September 27 in Boston and NYC (had luck with DC). Is this true? What should I do?
  8. Hi thereuare, I tried this strategy and was rejected. I would like to first try 3.5* and then split the bid. Please suggest a strategy. Please suggest a strategy for this. Thanks!
  9. I am looking for a hotel for staying one night (9/17). It should to be close to the airport and have free shuttles to the airport. Looking for something inexpensive -- just safe and clean, nothing fancy. Budget: $75 (including tax) Zone: ?? Was planing to selecting the Logan area, but luckily checked it on the map -- it is a very large area, Quincy Market seems to be closer to the airport than some parts of the Logan zone. What should I do? Thanks!
  10. I am trying to get a 3.5* or 4* hotel in Boston for 2 nights. Dates: September 13 (sun) - September 15 (tue), 2009 Budget: $100 (including taxes) Zones: Quincy Market, Copley Square So far, I have tried the following strategy, without success. 3.5* Copley Square + Quincy Market $67 (rejected) and, 4* Copley Square + Quincy Market $81 (rejected) Please suggest a bidding strategy.
  11. My wife and I are visiting NYC for the first time in September. Mostly interested in visiting Manhattan attractions. I need help with the bidding strategy. Dates: 5 nights September 22 - September 27 (Tuesday night - Saturday night) Tried this strategy and failed: 4* with the following series of bids CPS $121 (rejected) +MTE $126 (rejected) +MTW $133 (rejected) +MSG $141 (rejected) +TS $146 (rejected) +ESB $151 (rejected) +Chelsea (just for rebidding; no 4* here) $156 (rejected) I have seen good deals on Travelzoo for Thu-Sunday, but not as many for Tuesday/Wednesday. Is it a good idea to split the stay into two parts for bidding on PL? BUDGET (not including tax): $150 for 3.5*, or up to $175 for 4*. I am interested in the following zones. 4* zones: CPS, MTE, MTW, MSG, TS, ESB 3.5* zones: MTE, MTW, MSG, ESB, TS (except for Sheraton Manhattan Times Square which has poor review on TA). Excluding CPS for 3.5* due to poor reviews on TA for most 3.5* hotels in that zone. Please let me know if these areas are good. Thanks.

Wondering if I could have bid $80 for White House Downtown to win the Renaissance Mayflower... :) I used the PRICELINE link on the forum to begin my session.
  14. Thanks Aaron! The budget is $150 per night (willing to go up to $200 with tax). Preferred areas in Manhattan are around Central Park, Times Square. Any other good areas that are safe for walking late at night (mugging, etc) and close to most tourist places are also OK. Looking at other posts on the forum, it seems like going below 3.5* in Manhattan is not a good idea. So we are looking for at least 3.5*. We are in NYC for a total of 5 nights. Want to spend at least 3 nights in Manhattan. Willing to spend the other 2 outside Manhattan if you think the budget is too low. Any recos?
  15. I am visiting NYC from 9/23/2009 (tue morning) to 9/27/2009 (sun evening, JFK). Since hotels are expensive on weekdays, compared to weekends, I plan to stay near JFK for the first 2 nights, and then in Manhattan (thu - sunday). Does this look like a good plan? When should I start bidding on Priceline and search Hotwire? Is it better to wait till I am closer to the travel dates? Is it better to search/bid on certain days of the week? Thanks!
