  1. I haven't seen the Hotel Wailea come up in a very long time, I think the chances are extremely high that you would get the Makena Beach Resort when bidding for a 3.5 in that zone.
  2. Is there a particular part of Maui you want to stay in or are you open to any? I personally would avoid the Aston Lu, its a very dated property with semi poor reviews. Have you checked vrbo.com in the Kihei area for a backup, there are some condos that are close to your price range. Keep in mind that if your budget is all in at $150/nt, you'll need to factor in a resort fee for just about anything you win on Priceline for Maui.
  3. I've bid at least ten occasions over the last month for this exact time frame with no luck. I've gone up to $170 in the Kaanapali and Wailea areas at the 4 star and resort levels. I've also had zero success trying to get the 3.5 Makena Beach resort in the Wailea zone.
  4. I've been up to $170 for Kaanapali and Wailea with no luck for mid March, so yes it appears this is peak season and its going to take a higher bid to get them. I'm considering the 3 and 3.5 star hotels as an option at this point.
  5. The Wailea Marriott has been going for less than $110, but mostly on reservations after April 1st. You could try for the 3.5 Makena Beach Resort in the Wailea area, but those dates are going to make it difficult as its peak whale watching season.
  6. I'm possibly looking to stay here in March, was $135 your first bid or did you bid up to it?
  7. I too will probably try for the Makena Resort as I haven't seen Hotel Wailea come up in a long time. If I can't get a winning bid under $125, I'll most likely just bid directly with Makena Resort as their current $199 direct special rate includes no resort fee($25) and breakfast buffet for two($60).
  8. I realize its hindsight at this point, but you had 6 weeks before your trip and plenty of time to try more bids. Your $195 or lower bid would most likely have been accepted towards the end of January, although maybe not for the Westin. I can't speak for the Sheraton's rooms, but its in one of the best locations along Kaanapali beach, I think you'll enjoy it.
  9. Thanks for the info on waiting till the last minute to get your successful bid last year. Sounds like you are saying that they accepted your $120 on your first bid. I haven't stayed in the Makena Resort, but it seems to get good reviews, especially after their recent remodel. From reading about it, it now seems on par with at least a 4 star. It just seems that its a very quiet secluded place, but that goes for most of Wailea anyway.
  10. I'm going to be staying in Maui just a few days before you and have been monitoring Wailea and haven't seen low winning bids come through in a long time. A couple years ago you would frequently find the Marriott go for under $100, but that was mostly during off peak times. Mid to late March is peak tourist time on Maui, so I'm anticipating having difficulty getting a resort for under $150/nt. I've tried recently like you with no success and will probably hold off and try again in February and possibly use the 3.5 Makena Resort as a backup or grab a condo on HOTWIRE.
  11. I don't need any assistance and don't really have any real reason to start a topic. I'll need to book a reservation for Maui in March, so have plenty of time and am well versed in using PRICELINE. I was just curious as this thread starter was having such a hard time booking anything. I always use your PRICELINE links when booking.
  12. I'm curious where the thread starter ended up booking a reservation?
  13. I've been looking at staying here in March, but would only do so if I could get a priceline win for under $130. Did you think about trying to book directly with them, they are running a promo for $199 during that period that comes with no resort fee ($25) and daily breakfast buffet for two ($60). This basically reduces their daily rate down under $120. http://www.makenaresortmaui.com/Accommodations/Packages-Offers.asp?LangID=25&action=saved&xid=7#Fallinto12
  14. Just out of curiosity, would you be willing to stay in a 3.5 in Wailea/Makena? The Makena Beach Resort has newly remodeled rooms that are easily on par with a 4 star and I've seen it go recently for as low as $130/nt on priceline. Here is their current site promotion for the period you are looking, http://www.makenaresortmaui.com/Accommodations/Packages-Offers.asp#HolidayPromo Its just a thought since it appears the resorts seems to be booked out for your period.
  15. Nice win, I'm looking at going to Kauai and trying to win this property, but for the life of me I can't figure out why this is a 3.5 star property as it sure appears resort level from everything I've seen.
  16. Bid $23 and was rejected, waited 48 hrs and rebid at $26/day and was accepted by Hertz. After taxes and fees, came to $258, happy with the price considering I only wanted a minivan and it was $100 more anywhere else I looked.
  17. Amenities for the Fiesta - Henderson Casino Pool Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet
  18. Needed one night off the strip for Sat July 18 and got the Fiesta in Henderson for $42. The strip pricing for this weekend was double the usual so decided to stay off the strip close to friends. Fiesta is a Station casino so its decent and fun. It's probably closer to a 2.5 rating, but for the price I was happy. Only thing that was annoying is that they charged an $11/day resort/service fee. I wouldn't mind paying this for a 5 star on the strip, but not for an average hotel off the strip.
  19. Yeah I was considering the South Point at that rate. I'm mainly going for the NBA summer league at UNLV, which is just east of the strip, so I figured a hotel east of the strip should be close to the University. I've mostly used Priceline in the past, so I'm unfamiliar if Hotwire's rates stay consistent up until the arrival date or if they drop as it gets closer to the arrival if the property still has plenty of room. Maybe I'll just take a chance on this 3 star and see what property it is. Have you ever been able to identify it based on the tripadvisor rating and number of reviews? I tried and I can't seem to find a property that matches what hotwire lists.
  20. My stay is for one night this Saturday the 18th. Its a busy weekend with a big boxing match and large convention, so its been impossible to get any kind of deal on the strip as most hotels seem to have inflated rates for this particular weekend. I'd prefer a 3 star and above, doesn't have to be on the strip, but would like it to have a casino.
  21. 3 star in East of strip Casino Pool Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Access Looked in the hotel list and don't see any 3 stars in this area so am curious if its a new one they are using. Just by looking at the area covered, suspected it may be Hooters Casino.
  22. Its a tough weekend because of the big fight and a big convention, most of the hotel rates are double this weekend. I'm just going to book something from hotwire probably or try for something just off the strip via priceline.
