  1. A new hotel and a pleasant surprise. For $42 in the Troy-Madison Heights region, I landed "The MET Hotel" at 5500 Crooks Road in Troy, MI. I was honestly expecting another hotel, this is a surprise, and I hope it will be a pleasant one. Here is their website: I booked it today on March 31, 2011 - for an April 6-7, 1-night stay. The amenity icons listed are: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby FYI, it also appears that this exact hotel could be had for a little cheaper (e.g. $40) if you book even earlier in advance.
  2. Darnit, just get rejected on it at $32 for the 1-night Sat. stay, I'll try $35 next.
  3. I am going to try and snag this deal on a one-night stay for Saturday night! Thanks for the share, I hope I can get it last second. Somerset is a great upscale mall. Also, your family may want to visit the nearby Arts, Beats, and Eats festival in Royal Oak - it's running all Labor Day weekend from Friday morning to Monday night! Should be loads of fun. This Madison Heights room is situated conveniently between Royal Oak and Somerset Collection. http://www.artsbeatseats.com/ Have a great stay!
  4. Bid $48 after being rejected on $45, 2.5* bid. Something tells me I would have landed it even if I kept the price at $45. Might have have up-bid $3-$6. Oh well. If you have some bidding leeway and time, I'd suggest start the bidding at $40 and then $45, at the 2-star level at least. This place is about 25 mins. from Cedar Pt.
  5. This is a 1 night stay, 4/28/2010 - 4/29/2010 Also, I wanted to note that the niche region this booking was under on PRICELINE's map was "Birch Run" It was distinct from the Saginaw region to the North and the Frankenmuth region neighboring to the Northeast of it.
  6. Dates of stay is 5/1/2010 - 5/2/2010 I forgot to use the PRICELINE link from this site, I will next time!
  7. After creeping up dollar by dollar on a series of bids, finally landed this: $52 bid, 2 Rooms, 3*, Detroit, MI (downtown) Nice hotel, walking distance to Greektown, nearby People Mover Stop, right across from Renaissance Center (has skywalk connection) Not to be confused with the more upscale Marriott RenCen within the Gm bldg itself! Is walking distance to it though!
  8. My GF and I are from the the north suburbs of Detroit and want to make a daytrip to Birch Run & Frankenmuth for some summer outlet shopping and a nice German chicken dinner in nearby Frankenmuth! After starting bids at $30 and creeping up $2 at a time, I finally snagged a decent room. Since this is a niche travelerstop town, the value is not as great as in the suburbs, but it is what it is. Rooms start at $69.99+tax via Best Western direct, so $57.32 out the door was fair enough. Here are the win details: $45 bid, 2* minimum, Birch Run region Check-in Wednesday, Checkout Thursday (April 2010) 1 Room Hotel is: Best Western 9087 E Birch Run Road Birch Run, Michigan, 48415-9747, US It looks like a nicer renovated family-traveler friendly Best Western..It even has an indoor heated pool and is located right off 75. Great place to stay if you are shopping at Birch Run or enjoying nearby Frankenmuth! Cheers!
  9. Booked a single night Sat June 6, check out Sun June 7. 3-star in Novi/Farmington region. Searched 1 room, 1 night, 1 adult The 4 Amenity icons were fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center. The hotel was great, felt nicer than the star level suggested and even gave us WARM, complimentary choc chip cookies, as many as you like! Deal was $42 before fees and about $53 out the door.
  10. Hello, I'm new to the community, but I've been a veteran Hotwire user - don't mess with Priceline much. But I finally caved and decided to want to give back to this community. I just booked a 2.5* in Utica, MI region via Hotwire for Saturday, July 18 checkin and next day checkout. I searched 1 room, 1 adult. There were 5 amenity icons. COMP BREAKFAST, POOL, RESTAURANT, BUSINESS CENTER, and WiFi. I got Holiday Inn Express on 45555 Utica Park Boulevard, Utica, MI, 48315 The price was $48 before fees and about $58 out the door. I hope I posted this correctly as I am a newbie to this forum (however, like I said, I am an old time Hotwire user, I have booked over 30 rooms in my life via Hotwire.)
