  1. Hi all, Just thought I'd give you an update. I took the $99 hotel that thereuare suggested and ended up with the Wyndam in South Times Sq. I am absolutely thrilled with the price and the hotel, it get's a lot of praise on TA. I also used the HOTWIRE link. I'm not sure how to change the post so if you could change that it would be great. Thanks so much for all your help!
  2. Thanks very much for this thereuare. I'll give this a shot when I get home, going to have a look at the HOTWIRE hotel now too. Thanks a lot.
  3. I just found the post about that hotel. That was referring to a 3.5* in MTE so I'd be happy to include that too. If I find I have to go down to 3.5* I'll avoid that zone.
  4. I'd like to avoid CPS, the 4* ones get pretty mixed reviews on TA. I might avoid MTE as well, someone said a hotel was too far east and had no close subway. We'll be travelling to Penn Station from Newark Airport so don't want unnecessary hassle. Sorry if I'm being a bit picky... Anything else you need to know?
  5. These dates are pretty much confirmed. If anything changed it would be a day or two earlier but I'm just going to assume the dates will be 1/7 - 1/11. A bidding strategy would be helpful. Thanks for your responses so far and yes when I bid I'll use the links as I have before.
  6. Hi there, I have preliminary travel dates of 1/7 - 1/11/10. Is there any realistic prices to start bidding at? Ideally I'd be looking for a 4* but I'm willing to drop to 3.5/3 at the lowest. Certainly nothing higher than $200/night if possible. Areas I'm not too sure about. Will be doing the touristy sites and possibly some theatre. Empire State/MTW/MTE probably the best to stay in or any other suggestions? Thanks.
  7. Congrats! I too broke down but changed my dates instead. Went with 6 - 8 instead. Got the Hilton in USW for $65. Bit of a mixed bag on TripAdvisor but can't really complain! Hope you have a fab time!
  8. I eventually gave up on my original dates (7-9 Aug). My only requirement was to stay a Friday night. So I chose 6 - 8 August. Strategy: $60 USW (Rebid offer for $17) $63 USW + Moscone (Again rebid appeared) Successful with $65 USW + Moscone + Civic Centre. Very pleased - looked up Expedia and Hilton which both want approx $450. I also used the PRICELINE link.
  9. I'm bidding on the same weekend. I've tried about 10 different zone/star combinations. So far only got to $83. Might have to change my stay to midweek.
  10. Just done some Googling to find the $59 package. It's provided by Citypass and can be found at this link: San Francisco City Pass Thanks so much for letting me know about this! A lot to do in a weekend.
  11. That sounds amazing. I'm not sure if I'll be travelling alone yet so just wanted to make sure to be in the right place. $59 sounds a steal, will definitely look into that when I get there. Thanks!
  12. Hi there, I will be in LA from the 30th of July and I'm going to take a trip up to SF. I'm looking to do all the touristy things like the bridge, Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf etc. I'd also like to check out the Castro. Can anyone recommend me an area? I was looking at USW, especially the Nikko but I know not to get my hopes up for a particular hotel. I know you probably get this all the time but any help would be fantastic. I will hoping to stay from 08/07 - 08/09. Kind regards
