  1. Hi all, It's been a while since I used Priceline thanks to corona but made use of your absolutely superb Hotels Revealed tool. Needed an ORD hotel for a one night layover and this is well reviewed and reliable. The rate was $51 and I also used your BBJAN22 Priceline Coupon code and used all of your links. I shed a tear to learn that NYOP is dead and gone but these tools make it even better dare I say. Thanks as ever.
  2. Hi there! Used the revealhotels.com website (thanks for this, fantastic!). By chance the website revealed that one of the listings was an excellent chance of being Mystic Dunes. It is perfect for us as we're there for a week already with our friends as part of a time share so it'll be great not having to move property. Albeit we'll likely have to move rooms but that's no problem. Amenities: Resort, Condo, Free parking, Free internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Internet access, Golf nearby, Tennis nearby, Kitchenette Absolute steal of a rate too. Thanks very much.
  3. Good afternoon, A nice win for me with the relatively high prices I was seeing in the DC area for my stay. I have friends staying in Dupont Circle so this limited me in my bidding etc. Amenities: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Spa services I used your HOTWIRE link along with a $30 coupon so total stay excluding resort fees was $268.56. Resort fees per night for this property are $21.10 should you be interested.
  4. Hi there, PRICELINE links used for all searches/rebids. Following strategy was used: Dates: 4/25 to 4/26 LHR North/South $48 Declined - Rebid offer if I bid $58 LHR North/South/Northeast $50 Declined - Same rebid offer of $58 LHR North/South/Northeast/South Ruislip $53 - Accepted. Eager to try out these Doubletree cookies everyone goes on about!
  5. Hi, A win report for you. Been bidding for the past week trying to get somewhere more central but the prices were just not worth it. Pretty pleased with this win which was won with the following strategy: Docklands $90 Declined Offered a counter at $122 Docklands, Regents Park, Bloomsbury $100 Declined Docklands, Regents Park, Soho $106 Declined Offered a counter at $122 Docklands, Regents Park, Westminster $112 - Win Breakdown: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $112.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $224.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $54.48 (USD) Total Charged to Card: $278.48 (USD) (All prices are in US dollars) PRICELINE links were used for each search.
  6. I think this is a match for the Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa as I just won this hotel on Hotwire for my dates (5/3 - 13/3) with similar amenities.
  7. Finally have an update for you and, thankfully, a win! An update for your Hotwire list as I won the Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa in I Drive S/SeaWorld which is now a 4* up from 3.5*. The following amenities were present: Resort Free Parking Studio Daily Housekeeping Children's Activity Program Fitness Center Pool(s) 24-hour Front Desk Laundry Facilities (self-service) Tennis Nearby Spa Services Kitchenette Rate breakdown (please also note that Hotwire quotes a $10/day resort fee): Hotel Rate per night: $69.00 Nights: 8 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $78.15 Subtotal: $630.15 Trip total: $630.15 I used your links for all my searches on PRICELINE and on HOTWIRE. Interestingly, I bid up to $70 on Priceline in SeaWorld and LBV with free rebid zones and got zip. Mixed reviews but recently they have on the whole been good so I'm looking forward to it and the price is excellent given comparable rack rates. M
  8. PRICELINE doesn't work that way. You must be willing to accept anything within that star range or above. Hotwire will give you a better idea of what you'll receive but even that isn't bulletproof. Only bid if you're prepared to accept what they give you!
  9. Oh dear, it didn't show me the approval rating. Thanks for letting me know of that little gem! And yes, that was the list after clicking all amenities. Think I'll give this one a miss and perhaps try to bid on PRICELINE. Thanks very much for your help, Aaron. I'll update this thread with what I decide to do. Should be tonight or tomorrow.
  10. Hi all, Looking to use Hotwire for something approaching last minute for the dates above. I've got a 3* with the following facilities, in the I Drive South/SeaWorld area: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Suite Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette I'm struggling to find a match. HOTWIRE advises that TA gives it 3.5/5. I've used your links to search and I will of course use it if I go ahead, however does anyone have any ideas? It also charges a resort fee of $4.95/day. M
  11. Hello all, After exhausting my bids for a 4* for this weekend I dropped down to 3*. I'm weary of 3* in London so kept my bidding to Regent's Park, The City and Docklands. Started off at 80, rebid 85 and rebid 90. I see another member got the exact same deal! Really happy about my win, was starting to worry haha. The price breakdown is as follows: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $90.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $180.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $44.80 (USD) Total Room Cost: $224.80 (USD) A massive saving over the rack rate. I used the PRICELINE links for all of my bids/rebids. Thanks, M
  12. Thanks very much for the advice, AaronJB. Hopefully if the weather isn't too cold I'll take a walk up as I think it's a great way to explore. Thanks again to both of you for all your advice, now it's just on to enjoying the sights. Happy holidays to you both.
  13. Many thanks for all your advice! While the suite was lovely and had great reviews I felt it would be a bit wasted on me. I've just won the Hotel Felix for $62 and whilst it's a mixed bag review wise most complaints are about room size. Being from the UK I'm used to our small hotels anyway! The breakdown is as follows: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $62.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $124.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $27.30 (USD) Total Room Cost: $151.30 (USD) I saw from AaronJB that there's a whole foods nearby which will be good for snacks etc. Can I use your advice some more and ask the best way to get from ORD and perhaps some nice restaurants you recommend? I'll be on my own so don't have to impress anyone, just some good pizza would be awesome! Thanks again and I also used the PRICELINE links for all rebids.
  14. I'd like to pay a max of $80/night for the Chicago stay as it seems to be quite a bit cheaper than Boston. While a 4.5* would be lovely I will be out of the hotel for most of the day so a 4* will suffice nicely. I also don't mind bidding with Priceline, the lowest possible price means I have more to spend on shopping etc. Should I stick to the North River zones or should the Millenium Loop be considered too? I don't mind getting the subway etc but not too sure how late they run at night etc. Any advice would be great.
  15. Hi there, Similarly to my Boston stay this will be my first time in Chicago and I'm eager to pack in as much as I can. I'd also like to possibly hit the bars at night and Aaron has suggested I stay north of the river. That's absolutely fine with me. I'm looking for a 4* the same as Boston and my stay dates will be 12/12 - 12/14. Do you have any suggestions on what to start off on and perhaps any other areas worth bidding for? Many thanks in advance! I will of course use the Priceline/HOTWIRE links.
  16. Hi again! Sorry for the sustained silence but I have not forgotten, was just taking my time bidding. I am happy to report that I got a win at $99 for the 4* Onyx. The reviews seem extremely positive and the photos looks great, I am absolutely thrilled. Many thanks for all your help, I'm now off to try the Chicago stay! I used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for all my searches and bids. The breakdown is as follows: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $99.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $198.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $38.42 (USD) Total Room Cost: $236.42 (USD)
  17. Hello all, I'm looking for some advice/bidding strategy for Boston between 12/10/12 and 12/12/12. I'm going to try and cram as much as I can in 2.5 days before I head to Chicago and do the same thing. I'm interested in doing some shopping, sightseeing, visiting Harvard and visiting the Museum of Science then some bars at nighttime. 4* is preferred, not really sure what to expect for price. I guess my max would be around the $120 mark. Is that a realistic price for that time of year with Christmas so close? Many thanks for any suggestions and I will of course use the PRICELINE links when ready.
  18. Ah, I see. Thanks so much for clarifying that - I appreciate it!
  19. Hi there, I'm looking to start bidding in the Orlando area and I am aiming for the 4* band. I'm just a bit confused about the Resorts. If I was to consider them I would include them, but if I wanted a free rebid I would exclude them. Have I got that right? As in they are not higher or lower than a 4* but completely independent of the star ratings? Hope I've got that right. Thanks very much
  20. Hey there, London Heathrow - Sheraton Skyline 6/1/11 - 6/2/11 Won this one at $64/nt after trying the following: $40, $45, $50, $55, $58, $62 and a win at $64. At $58 I got an invite to bid $15 more, rejected and tried the same with $62 again with the same $15 increase. Won today with $64 with a total of: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $64.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $64.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $20.23 (USD) Total Room Cost: $84.23 (USD) Works out to be
  21. Oh thanks for the tip! I've seen this mentioned in other threads, will definitely check it out!
  22. You are quite right, it makes sense. Very happy to report that I booked this hotel and I won the Club Quarters opposite Rockefeller Center. Hotel Rate per night: $187.00 Nights: 7 Rooms: 1 Taxes: $129.08 Occupancy tax: $92.47 Fees: $27.09 Subtotal: $1,557.64 Trip total: $1,557.64 Amenities: Fitness, Restaurant, High Speed Internet Fabulous location and a very decent price. Looks like prices are on the way up so I'm glad I nabbed this in such a fab part of Manhattan. Thank you so much for all your patience and help with this trip. I also used the HOTWIRE link in the booking there. Regards
  23. Thanks very much, I've figured it out now. Unfortunately I bid all the way up to $160 and had no hits. There is the World Center hotel (I think) on Hotwire for $175 a night and it's a 4* so I may use that as a backup. I know lower Manhattan isn't the best for TS etc but 20 minutes on the subway isn't too bad a compromise if it comes down to it. With that said, should I incorporate Chelsea and Downtown into the above? Or if you have any other options that would be great. At the very least your referral links are getting some use haha. Regards, M
  24. Hi there, I've been bidding but not so much luck yet. I'm not doing it correctly I now realise though. I've not been sure on the bid zones so only selecting some of the places I'd be willing to stay if I made a mistake. Could you please let me know what the 4 rebid zones are? I understand the concept of the rebidding and I've looked through the hotel list. From what I've saw I've been using the UES and Hell's Kitchen. Could anyone help me with the 4 zones? Sorry for being a bit dim, just a bit unsure. Thanks very much.
