Read a few reviews online with noise complaints. Crossing our fingers and hoping that we will have a good experience.

I think it is Times Square but I could be wrong. We only picked TS and MTW as those 2 are the preferred areas.
I have been bidding on my daughter's behalf for the last few days going as high as $165 with no luck for MTW, TS, ESB, CPS.
Today, I bid $135 and got a counteroffer of $169. I opened a new browser, bid $140 (failed)and $145 (failed), receiving the same counteroffer of $169.
We then bid at $150 and got it. Sorry, I forgot to give her your PRICELINE link.

Since the previous poster, okeykeke, was successful with his bid of the 4* MTE hotel, Intercontinental The Barclay at $180, I gave it a try as well.
I started at $135, added zones at $5 incremental and got the same hotel, Intercontinental The Barclay, for $180 as well.

What a great rate! I wish it was available for Sep 8th!
I bid for one night, Sep 8, 2012. I know it is the US Open weekend so hotel prices would be high.

Don't be disappointed. Sometimes last minute bidding works, sometimes it doesn't. I bid both 4* and 3.5* using the same strategy. I was just going through the motion of bidding, not expecting to win at 4* and was ready to move on to 3.5*.
This stay is for my daughter and her friend. I am currently bidding 3* and up for my stay, Nov 5 - 7 (3 rooms), and not winning anything up to $170 + taxes and no cash bonus too since it is for < 3 nights. We may end up staying at our back-up hotel in LIC.
I just won 4* Grand Hyatt (MTE) for $126 + $9 bonus cash (which expires today) for 3 nights - Nov 11 to Nov 14, 2011.
This was my 4th bid since I started bidding a couple of nights ago.

I bid 4* x 3 rooms for one night, Aug 13 to Aug 14, 2011, Mexico City (Reforma). My bids were at $55, $58 and $61 + $5 bonus cash (success). I got the Sheraton Maria Isabel.
We would prefer the Hilton but Sheraton is okay for our last night in Mexico City. In another post, I mentioned that I booked our first 3 night in Mexico City with Expedia at $78 per night. We are still exploring our options as to where we will stay during Aug 8 to 13.

I started to bid for 3 rooms, 4* from Aug 5 to Aug 8, 2011 (3 nights). I have a $25 bonus cash allocated as follows: $2.78 per room x 3 nights x 3 rooms.
I started at $50, $55, $57, $59 and $61 + $2.78 ($63.78) - no success and no counteroffer.
Expedia has a 48 hour sale on Melia (Reforma) at $78.10 per night (cancellable) - we will just book this one.
I used your Expedia link to make my booking.
Thanks
Priceline deposited $25 bonus cash in my account yesterday which expires on Feb 20 (tomorrow) - max of $5/night.
So I started bidding again for 4* USW from $75 to $100 ($5 increments) + $5 cash bonus - no success and no counter-offer.
I closed the browser and started at $75 for 4* USE up to $100 + $ 5 bonus - no success and no counter-offer.
So I followed slruud's suggestion and booked my daughter with lastminutetravel.com at $99/night + taxes and got Clift Hotel (4* USE-Nob Hill) = $234.10 total for 2 nights. My daughter is okay with this hotel.
Thanks to thereuare and sluurd's help with this booking - much appreciated.
Thereuare, thanks for the bidding strategy, but no success on 4* USW and USE and 3.5* Fisherman's wharf. Mar 26-28 must be a busy weekend.
For both USE and USW, we went as high as $115 + $5 (increasing our last free rebid by $10) wiithout success and no counteroffer.
For Fisherman's wharf, we went as high as $95 + $5 (increasing our last free rebid by $10) without success and no counteroffer.
My daughter didn't want to bid in the Financial District.
Our $5 bonus/day has expired ... therefore there is no rush now ... we'll take it slowly, rebidding again after a day or two.

Hi thereuare,
My daughter is interested in including USE in her bids. Please suggest a strategy. Her $5 bonus/day expires tomorrow.
Her max for 3.5* Fisherman's Wharf is $90 + $5 bonus and she is willing to go as high as $115 + $5 bonus for 4* USW and USE.
Thanks
Verga
I did the following bids for to get 4* in USW and 3.5* in Fisherman's Wharf:
4* from $85 to $110 + $5 bonus ($115), increasing by $5 ... no success and no counteroffer (USW, Civic, Fisherman, Marina, SFO North & SSF). I didn't add Soma as her max was $110 + $5.
3.5* from $65 to $85 + $5 bonus ($90), increasing by $5 ... no success and no counteroffer (Fisherman, Civic, Marina, SSF North and SSF).
It must be a pretty busy weekend.
My daughter will research USE and will let me know tonight if she wants to bid in that area.
I used your PRICELINE link.
My daughter prefers to stay at a 4* USW-Nob Hill hotel with a max daily rate of $100 + taxes.
I bid 4* USW, Civic and Fisherman at $85, $90 and $95 + $5 bonus per day (max of $25 bonus which expires on Feb 14/11) - all bids failed and there was no counteroffer. Then, I suggested that she tries Fisherman's Wharf up to $83. So, I bid 3.5* for Fisherman, Civic, Marina, SFO North and South SF at $55, $60, $63, $68 and $77 + $5 bonus - again all bids failed and there was no counteroffer.
I will bid for her again tomorrow. I used your PRICELINE link.
Thanks for the recommendation. We went to Jackson Hole and the burgers were big and yummy.
The Kitano hotel was great as well:)
One kid cannot make the trip due to work commitment. The other kid will stay with a friend in NYC for one night ...so decided to bid for a room in Manhattan for us (parents).
I started my bid from $115, increasing in increments of $5 for TS, MTE, CPS, MTW, Chelsea and ESB.
I got it at $160 (less my $40 groupon) - total with taxes = $160.95
I checked the hotel reviews at tripadvisor...it caters mostly to Japanese tourists, but hotel looks okay.
