  1. I started my bid from $115, increasing in increments of $5 for TS, MTE, CPS, MTW, Chelsea and ESB. I got it at $160 (less my $40 groupon) - total with taxes = $160.95 I checked the hotel reviews at tripadvisor...it caters mostly to Japanese tourists, but hotel looks okay. I think it is MTE but it could be ESB - don't know for sure. Please edit title if it is ESB. I used your PRICELINE link to make the purchase.
  2. My family of 4 also got in on the Expedia Save300 deal. We are in NYC for 2 nights only with Dec 10 hostel bunk bed booking (3 people in same hostel and 1 person in another hostel as the other hostel was sold out) and no hotel booking on Dec 11th. We booked cancellable 2 x King Beds in HoJo LIC for Dec 11th at $130 each (total with taxes - $305). Since all 4 of us are not staying in the same hostel, we decided to get one room on Dec 10th for parents to share and the 2 kids (in their early 20s) can stay in the hostel. I bid on Sun for 1 room on Dec 10th (one night)..starting from 4*, 3.5* down to 3* up to $198 - NO success - getting really discouraged. On Sun midnight, I decided to bid 2.5*... starting at $80, increasing in increments of $5 and got it at $120 ... upgraded to 3.5 * MTE - Hilton Manhattan East - WOW, I couldn't believe that I scored at $120!! Offer Price - $120.00 Number of Rooms - 1 Number of Nights - 1 Subtotal - $120.00 Taxes - $22.67 Fees - $9.98 Total Charges - $152.65 I tried to add 1 night stay for Dec 11th ...but hotel won't take it. I tried the same 2.5* bidding strategy for Dec 11th since I scored Dec 10th...but NO success. As always, I used your PRICELINE link.
  3. We are a family of 4 (2 children in early 20s) wanting a hotel room with 2 beds for 1 night: Dec 11 - 12. Currently, we hold cancellable 2 x King Bed hotel rooms in LIC. Total for 2 rooms = $305.30 Hotwire is offering this 3* ESB hotel with the following amenities: Restaurants and Hi-speed internet access. Recommended in 80% of Hotwire customers. $256 ...total $311.52 (all in). Please help ID this hotel. Thanks!
  4. I made a bid for my sister at $50 and got it!! I am so glad I did a search first for Buenos Aires and saw the recent successful bids at $50. I used your PRICELINE link. Thanks, Verga
  5. I am now following Kimpton in twitter. The AUGUST 2010 magic word is "POPSICLE" so if you mention that word when checking in, you get a surprise (either an upgrade OR a free breakfast). Here is what was said in Kimpton's Twitter: "Okayyyyy... here it is. Your AUGUST Summer Playground password for surprises at check in. (Drum roll). It's POPSICLE. (Applause). Thank you."

  7. Email subscribers receive 15% off 1+ night hotel stays Enter promotion code HOTEL15 on the checkout page • No blackout dates • Book by 08/12, for travel through 09/30
  8. I started bidding 4 days ago. One bid per day only as Brooks is a small town (close to the Dinosaur National Park). My husband and I each made one bid per day. Day 1 - bid $80 and $85 - both failed Day 2 - bid $90 (counteroffered $105); bid $97 (counteroffered $117) Day 3 - bid $100 (counteroffered $120) Day 4 - bid $90 (counteroffered at $105 and I accepted). I only saved $21 as the PRICELINE regular site is offering this same hotel for $126 but ... I really wanted this hotel (I was 90% sure that this is the only 2 * hotel in Priceline's inventory). Thanks ... I used your PRICELINE links to bid.
  9. I bid 4* for Banff ($100), added Canmore ($105), closed browser, opened a new browser and bid for Banff and Lake Louise ($110), then added Canmore ($112) - all failed with no counteroffer. I opened a new browser for 3* Banff ($85), added Canmore at $90 and was accepted. The cheapest room at The Jupiter's hotel website is $159 so I did good. I used your PRICELINE links in all my bidding. Edit - please add $90 to the subject line - thanks.
  10. As always, thanks for your advise, thereuare. Using your link, I booked today with Orbitz the refundable rate of $219 per night (1 BR suite, 2 double beds, non-smoking). After my 10% one-time promo welcome discount, this brought the hotel cost down to $229.25 including taxes. My daughter, who is joining us, on this trip is in her early 20s. Please edit subject line. Thanks!
  11. Hi thereuare, My family of 3 adults would like to book a one night accommodation in DC for Sept 13/10 (Mon). We prefer somewhere central because we will be taking the Bolt Bus to NYC at 7:30 am on Sept 14. Since there are 3 of us, it would not be advisable to book through Priceline as we are not guaranteed 2 beds. Up until yesterday, lastminutetravel was showing a 4* Washington D/T hotel at $111 before taxes for 2 people and I am pretty sure it was the Washington Marriott, DC. When I put 3 people, this hotel was not showing up. This is the reason why I didn't book it because I may end up with a small "Priceline" room - not big enough for 3 adults even if one sleeps on the floor. In Hotwire, Homewood Suites is showing up at $179.10 for 3 people (2 double beds) or $222 (all in). This rate includes hot buffet breakfast (7 days a week) and a light dinner (Mon-Thu only). This hotel was showing up in Orbitz up until yesterday at $186 for 2 beds (same price for 2 to 4 people). Orbitz's total with taxes was cheaper because it doesn't charge a booking fee. I also have a 10% promo code for a one time use which could have brought down my total to $206 (all in). Unfortunately, this hotel is no longer showing in Orbitz. Is $222 (AI) a good deal already or should I hold off booking until closer to my arrival date. Thanks in advance for your input.
  12. What is the Orbitz 10% discount code please? My son might book a hotel to attend a wedding. Thanks.
  13. I bid on behalf of my son's planned stay at Edmonton from Aug 26-29/10 (3 nights). I checked Hotwire and the 4* rate was $76. It looks like it is the Westin. My $10 per night cash award (max of $50) expires today so I want to make sure my bid is successful today. I started at $65 ($55 + $10 cash bonus) and got the Westin. I probably could have gotten it a few dollars cheaper. I used your PRICELINE link.
  14. I am so happy for you as I am so happy too (still happy) after winning on priceline the Hotel Palomar at $109 for our Sept weekend stay. Please remember to register for Kimpton Intouch program to get your free wifi internet. I called the hotel last night asking them to link my Kimpton Intouch membership number to my reservation, asked for a free upgrade and received it too (grinning from ear to ear)! We can't wait to stay in this hotel. The hotel has class, I must say!
  15. I bid 4* using your strategy and PRICELINE link up to $150 ($140 + $10 cash award) for period Sep 10 - 14/10 - FAILED and no counterbid. I checked HOTWIRE for period Sep 10 - 13/10. 4* Dupont Circle is available at $109 (previous nights were at $115). I checked amenities and it appears to be Hotel Palomar). If I add Sep 14 - this hotel is not showing up. So I started my bid at $85 (using your PRICELINE link), adding increments of $2 or $3. No counterbid even at $105 ($95 + $10 cash award). I have 2 free bids left so I upped the bid to $109 ($99 + $10 cash award) and SUCCESS at last. Very pleased as I wanted to try out a Kimpton Hotel. I will bid for the Monday stay (Sep 14) closer to my arrival date. Thereuare - Thank you so much for all your assistance, specially the permutation formula. Please edit heading to show Sep 10 - 13/10 $109, Dupont Circle, Hotel Palomar.
  16. Thereuare - the Priceline page shows a 30% negotiated special for Westin Washington Hotel (3.5*) at $124 for the whole stay and I can choose 2 double beds for the same price. I just spoke with my daughter. Although not certain yet, there is a good chance that she may join us in Washington, DC from Toronto, so having an extra bed would be nice, just in case she does join us. This hotel doesn't have the best reviews but it is central. I am in a quandry here - - I have bid 3.5* as per your strategy for the whole stay using the PRICELINE link twice (Wed and Thurs) up to $100 ($90 + $10 cash award) with no success and no counterbid. - My heart wants to bid 4* at Dupont Circle for 3 nights up to $110 ($100 + $10 cash award). Although no guarantee, I hope to score Hotel Palomar (and experience the Kimpton touch). If we win our bid, maybe we can ask/pay for a 2 double beds upgrade on check-in. On the last night, we can stay in Crystal City . We are actually taking the BOLT bus to NYC at 9:30 am on Sep 14 so staying in a central hotel is a plus since we would be lugging our luggage around. So, at this point....weighing everything, it looks like getting a central hotel with 2 double beds is the best option. Hmmm.. Should I just book the $124 Westin Washington special or wait until closer to travel date? Orbitz show the same deal but doesn't show 2Bs. For Orbitz, since this is a non-refundable deal, would their low price guarantee still be valid? Thanks, Verga
  17. I bid 4* up to $135 ($125 + $10 cash award) 3 times for the whole stay and up to $92 ($81 + $10) and $101 ($91 + $10) for weekend (3 days) for Dupont Circle (hoping to score Hotel Palomar) with no success, using your PRICELINE links and strategy. I'll continue to bid but maybe wait a couple of days in between.
  18. The median price was $159 so my husband tried bidding for the whole stay. I bid up to $125 ($115 + $10 cash award) using your PRICELINE links and strategy but unfortunately NO success.
  19. Thanks for your suggestion thereuare. Although Donovan Hotel's booking is cancelable up to midnight prior to the first night stay, my credit card will be charged right away which kind of sucks. Your charge card will be charged for the full payment upon submitting your reservation request. I wonder if I should split my bids: 2 days (Fri and Sat) + 2 days (Sun and Mon). My sister has a timeshare and she can book us with Wyndham Old Town Alexandria (WOTA). The Sun and Mon rates (Wyndham points) are much cheaper than the Fri and Sat ones. There is nothing available for my dates at WOTA right now but it may open up closer to my arrival date. I am thinking of bidding for Fri and Sat and am hoping to stay at WOTA on Sun and Mon (we leave DC at 9:30 am on Tues).
  20. I tried your strategy again using your PRICELINE links but alas no luck in bagging a deal. This time, I added another rebid zone and bid up to $125. I will try again in a couple of days. The median price today for 4* was $235 vs $240 2 days ago.
  21. I bid using your 4* strategy and actually changed the last 2 bids to $105 and $110 + my $10 cash award = $120 max bid and was rejected - no counterbid received either. I didn't bid the 3.5* right now as we would prefer 4* at this time. I'll try your 4* strategy again tomorrow.
  22. I would like to bid now for Dupont, WH-DT, CC-CH. Is Georgetown a good, safe area? My max for 4* is $105, 3.5* is $80 and 3* is $60?
  23. I see that quite a few are successful getting their bids accepted from $60 to $80 for a 4* weekend stay but the Monday stay appears to be problematic. I checked Hotwire and the price for a 4* is $109 for the weekend and $239 for the Monday stay and $145 for the complete stay (Dupont Circle). Should I try bidding low first since I can holdout until June 30 (with cash awards)? Would I get better rate if I bid closer to my travel dates (even without cash awards)? Should I bid for the Monday stay first up to $160 for 4* and if successful, try lower bids for the weekend stay up to $75 for 4*? Any zone in DC (near metro) would work for us. For a complete stay, I would like to start with 4* up to $100 then 3.5* up to $75 (and if too low, will increase bids later).
  24. This is our first time to visit Washington, DC so we don't know what area is best for us although we read somewhere that the Dupont Circle is the more interesting place to stay. My husband and I are visiting from Sep 10 (Fri) to Sep 14 (Tues). We also understand that a Monday stay would cost more than a Friday to Sunday night stay so we may have to break up our bid in order to get the best price. I have a PRICELINE $50 Hotel Cash Award that I can use for this bid with a max of $10 per night (expiring June 30). Please suggest a bidding strategy. We would like a 4* hotel if possible but a 3.5* is okay too. I don't know what is a reasonable max bid or if it is too early to bid right now however I would like to use the Cash Award now before it expires on June 30. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
  25. $100 for the 4 days is not bad. I will make my reservation now using your link. I just checked and the price is not $14.77 - must have increased from the time you checked to the time I am trying to book :) Anyway, I booked a mid-size at $107.61 all in for 4 days. If it drops in prices, I will cancel and rebook. Thanks, Verga
