  1. Just wanted to give everyone some info on this hotel. Apparently all the rooms here are suites and feature a bedroom area and a separate room with sofa beds and a kitchenette. We had a king, but if you get a room with double beds, you could conceivably sleep six people! Also, internet is free and so is parking! The first time I won it I was automatically put into a renovated room with a flat screen tv in the living room area of the suite. This time around I was put into an older room with no flat screen tv, but the living area was much larger. I went back to the front desk and asked to be changed. The clerk asked if I had booked through a third party. I told him it was through Priceline. He then informed me that priceline buyers received the older rooms as default and I had to pay an additional $10 for the upgraded room. I asked why then I was placed into a renovated suiite the first time I got a room through Priceline. He said it was probably a mistake on the part of whoever gave me the room, but then said that the policy had been implemented within the last two weeks... so I'm not sure if he was just feeding me a line since the story changed. I ended up getting a newer room for only $5, so that was nice of him I guess. The older rooms are not bad, boyfriend just really wanted a flat screen. If you want a lot more space in the suite area, the older ones are better. They also feature a bar area and a table that seats 4 (the renovated room's dining table only seats 2). The decor of the older room is more traditional (hacienda style, similar to the lobby), while the newer ones are more contemporary style. I happen to like both, so I guess it depends on your needs and preferences. For what you can usually get this hotel for on PL, they're a great deal either way.
  2. I tried West Covina area 3* at $45. Got accepted at first bid! Just the hotel I was hoping to get! My boyfriend and I live close to here and got this hotel a couple years back (you can see it my post history). We love how close it is to home, yet how far away and luxurious it feels! The hotel is quite lovely, especially for being in such a humble area :) . One of the nicest we've been to. It has a separate kitchen and living area with a flat screen tv. I booked through the PRICELINE link at the top of the forum. Oops. Didn't put the dates! 9/28/11 to 9/29/11.
  3. Hello, I just won the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach in Orange County, CA. I bid on a 4* hotel and received it for $60. I was happy until I went on other websites (Expedia, trip advisor) etc. and saw that it was rated at 3.5* and that it seemed to have not very good reviews (apparently they have "priceline" rooms =/) I called priceline about this and they were VERY unhelpful. They basically said that's their star rating and their sticking to it. I asked why they couldn't honor a basic industry standard, considering they're part of that industry (online hotel booking.) I also said I understand that I can't pick what hotel I get, but I thought at least I could pick the star rating and the general area! Isn't that the whole point? The CS person basically told him that I was S.O.L. and hung up on me. :) Do I have any other options???? :)
  4. $60 was my first bid. Only checked off Newport Beach and 4* boxes. Started my bid through the Better Bidding PRICELINE links! This site has saved me a lot of money! I've found bidding where there is a high saturation of hotels (like by airports!) seems to reap me the most bang for my buck. Thanks for everything!
  5. I assumed the south strip 3* hotel was hooters, looked up rated online, called the hotel directly, and ended up paying only $3.62 more than if I had booked through Hotwire (this is taking resort fees into account)! That seems well worth it for piece of mind of being able to cancel. Now if the identity of that hotel ever gets found out and it turns out to be something awesome, then I will kick myself! But oh well, seems like it's likely Hooters. Thanks so much for the help! I will definitely post any wins I have in the future and I will go through your links. Thanks again!
  6. Hmm, I really don't want the Riveria... but 40% is that bad for hotwire huh? Scary. I will update on what I decide to do. Thank You.
  7. I'm looking for a 3 night stay from 11/25 to 11/28 and saw two choices on hotwire that might work Any idea what these hotels might be? 3* Vegas Strip - North area hotel $49 per night Recommended in 70% of hotwire reviews Hotel charges a resort fee Amenitities: Casino fitness center pool restaurant golf spa 3* Vegas Strip - South Area Hotel $53 per night Bed choice available Recommended in 40% of hotwire customer reviews Hotel charges a resort fee Amenities: Casino Pool Restaurant Business Center Golf Any help would be SUPER appreciated! <3
  8. I'm new to the board, but I find it really helpful, so thought I'd sign up and post my win. I tried West Covina area 3.5 * at $38 and got rejected. I then added 3* for my rebid of $40 and it got accepted. Really pleased since I live in the area and wanted something close. (My next option was going to be adding monrovia-duarte area!) I booked through the PRICELINE link at the top of the forum.
