Booked Philadelphia Intl Airport pick up and drop off for 4 day rental. I started bidding 3 weeks prior and was unsuccessful from $13 all the way up to $24. Hotwire rates were just under $30 at the time. I began to just watch prices for the next few weeks and noticed a gradual decline over time until today (May/5/12) when I saw a slight rise and decided it was time to bid again. I started today at $14 for economy and was rejected and counter offered at $16. I declined and went for compact at $15 and was accepted by Hertz. The total price (inc taxes and fees) difference for a 4 day rental between $16 per day vs $15 per day was only $2 and some change... go figure. Also, I was hoping for National as I heard their rates include insurance which in my particular case I will have to purchase separately. Happy with the price overall.
Had narrowed it down to three 2 star hotels in the area and was hoping it wasn't the lowest ranked Days Inn but Alas. There was a 3 star for $46 but I needed the free parking. This hotel is not in the Hotwire list. Amenities include Free parking High Speed internet Access Complimentary Breakfast Rated 2 stars on Tripadvisor with a customer satisfaction score of 3/5
Started at $61, then $65 and added $5 every bid until $85. I was hoping more for within 70-80 range but i suppose this is bidding more last minute on a place. $33 a night parking, if only there was bidding for parking!
Reading up on some tips and previous wins here on the boards I started at $32 for 4* in scottsdale. Fail. Then added airport area 4* @ $33. Fail. I continued to add new areas and went down to 3.5* on the third attempt. I went up $1 and added a new zone for each attempt until I got the Hyatt Regency Phoenix 3.5* for $39 a night 04/07/09 to 07/07/09. This is a 2 bedroom deal for 4 people with a total of around $270 with taxes.
