  1. Thanks to both of you. therefore when you say downtown you mean the Westminster - Houses of Parliament - Victoria area? That area seems to be the closest for the places I want to visit. Although I wanted to take a day trip to cotswolds and that tour may or may not start from central london. And also wanted to go to windser castle but that might be too far and might have to drop it because of time/budget concerns. So let me make this clear, do you think if I go for 4*, I will get bigger bed/crib for sure compared to 3* or my chances are better that way? I wanted to stay in the range of 70$ if possible. London seems like an expensive place. I tried to price a cab ride from LHR to some randon central london hotel in Westminster - Houses of Parliament - Victoria area and it almost comes to 40 to 50 pounds one way. Is tube an option with 3-4 suitcases and with child in a stroller? I also forgot to ask do hotels in Europe hold your luggage after checkout? My onward flight from London is around 9PM and the checkout is usually in the afternoon. Thanks
  2. Wow, thats a lot ! Heathrow express is also quite expensive. so are there any other areas which can give easy access to both airport and central london? What would be the best area to stay in?
  3. I have had always better luck with PRICELINE in terms of price and with calling them and requesting for double bed etc, I am not sure how different could it be with Europe though. But I am leaning towards Price.line. Hot.wire is almost 100$ for 2 to 2.5 star in that area which is little high. I am willing to go to 4* but how much budget would I have to increase ? I do have a discounted price at Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel (Bath Road Hounslow England TW6 2AQ United Kingdom) available for 60$ a night but I am not too sure if it would be too far in terms of travel to tourist places. Is it good time to book now?
  4. Hello, I will be travelling to london and looking for a hotel for 4 days. Check in on April 8th to april 12th. I will be with my wife and 1 year old. I have some questions on how I should go about bidding on priceline. I am travelling from US and will be relying on public transportation. I will have 2-3 suitcases with me and some hand luggage. 1) Considering my situation is it a good idea to bid on priceline or go with hotewire or any other options? 2) I was thinking of bidding in the area of Bloomsbury - Marble Arch since I figured I want to visit the usual london visitor spots like Tower bridge and Tower of London, London eye, Big Ben, House of parliament, Westminester abbey, Buckingham palace. Should I add any more areas which might be closer to these places? Am I correct in selecting the area? I haven't yet figured out how I am going to get to this area from LHR airport. 3) I want to balance between budget and value so I don't want to pay outrageous at the same time, dont want to be stuck in a really bad hotel. If I were to go for 3* hotel, Is 70$ reasonable or too low? Looking for suggestions on how to go with bidding. 4) If I bid on priceline w/e price I pay will it be in $ or pound? Will my credit card charge me for foregin transaction fees or priceline takes the cut? 5) Is it good time to bid and book or wait? Thanks
  5. Yeah that makes sense. But on Hot.wire I dont see the option to filter on shuttle to parks. Is this something I will have to narrow down the hotel by area and then go into individual one to see if they have shuttle to parks or not?
  6. Do you think I should even consider Price.line as an option and try the Disney resort area only ? If I target 3.5 starts and above hotel, most of them should offer the free shuttle to disney parks?
  7. Out of 4 to 5 days, most of the days will be spent at disney parks, if going to universal, most likely will be one day only and they can probably take a paid taxi/shuttle if needed. Is it too early to book for May?
  8. Bed situation might be ok but I am looking to book a trip for someone who cannot drive as they are not from US. I would not be able to drive with them so thats why I am looking for this. Is there any public transportation available which can satisfy at least one type of shuttle need.
  9. I would like to stay around 50$ or less for a night if possible since will be mostly using it to crash at night after the theme park visit.
  10. I am looking for a room 2 adult and 2 kids so a room with 2 double beds in Orlando for almost 5 to 6 days from May 5th or 6th 2015. The biggest issue is I am looking for a hotel with shuttle to/from airport and nearby Disney parks. I would not have car. Are there any hotels which provide both amenity and is there a way to book that at HOTWIRE? I know with PRICELINE it's uncertain.
  11. Sounds good. Thanks. Although I noticed when I won priceline said we upgraded your hotel to 4*. Is it still 3.5* hotel?
  12. Started around 34$ and was adding different zones. Got accepted for $40 a night. Edit : Just came to know that they charge for parking..Hard to believe a suburban hotel would charge for a parking..Feel like not such a great deal now..
  13. I have used this site often and love it. Want to pay my dues by reporting my win ! Have been trying for past few days and was getting denied for $65. Tried after 24 hours. 55$ & 62$ rejected but got accepted at $66. With taxes it will be around 85$..
  14. As I was about to start the bidding, i saw the regular rate for compact car with alamo was 110$ including tax. I tried booking it directly with alamo with costco coupon for 30$ off and it gave me a compact car for 72$ including taxes. Even if i start bidding at 8$ on priceline with taxes it's showing me total of 79$..It seems no point in bidding now..I tried bidding 5$ but it was denied. TIA..
  15. Thanks for your response. Yes 118/120$ charge is including taxes. I tried to book a new one with return day of 5th around 8 PM and I was able to book it with the same rate I got for a return of 6th. Thanks
  16. I am arriving at LAX on Aug 31st around 11:50 AM. I have a return flight on Sep 5th around 4:20 PM..So I will be picking up car around 12:30 PM and will be returning around 2:30 PM on 5th (so total rental time of 5 days and 2 hours). couple of questions..hope they are not stupid questions.. 1) Does rental company provide certain grace period so I can keep car for 2 extra hours without being charged for 1 full day? Do they charge you hourly for that? Or does it make more sense to book the car for 6 days without worrying about grace period? 2) I have booked an economy car for 6 days through alamo for $118 and Compact car through thrifty for $120. Is it possible to get a better deal if I bid through priceline? Should I start bidding now or should I wait? 3) If I reserved/bid the car for 6 days? Can I return it in 5 days and few hours? I am guessing I can since I have already paid for it, but just checking... Thanks
  17. I am leaning towards giving up on bidding. The lowest fare I see right now is on May 29(sun) to June 5th (sun) at 480$. I bid as much as 335$ (around 398$ including taxes) and no success.
  18. Yes I used the above links. I am planning to switch dates to Thu to Thu ( I am seeing normal price of 500$ from IAD) and Sunday to Sunday (480$ from IAD via jetblue). Once all 3 bids from different airports is rejected, can I do multiple selection on airport and increase the bid price and try again since I am willing to fly from any of the 3 airports? does it work similar to hotels? Also when bidding, it always tells me that priceline usually books flight upto 1 connection, is there a way to change that to allow upto 2 connections so my chances are higher? TIA
  19. Tried dates of 5/27 to 6/3 IAD - 225 denied and it came with regular flight search results and showed the lowest price of 629$ including taxes DCA - counter offer 629 and same result for BWI to ANC Thanks
  20. Probably around 350 including taxes, not sure if its possible.
  21. Yes any 3 of the airports is fine.
  22. I am looking to bid for 2 tickets from IAD (washington dc) to ANC (Anchorage Alaska) between May 27th (Friday) to June 2nd (Friday). I do have little flexibility in changing the trip few days before may 27th but donot want to delay it. I used air fare compare and the current price is around 520-550$ and the lowest fare is from DCA (Ronald reagon airport). I have 3 (DCA,IAD,BWI) choices for departure airport but only 1 for destination airport. What strategy do I adopt and how much do I start with for bidding? If i am seeing lowest fare from DCA does it mean I get lowest fare from that airport when I bid? Thanks
  23. I was not getting anything in my price range for those areas in 3* hotels. I went ahead and tried the Clark - Westfield area for 3.5*. Started the bidding at 37$(47$ after priceline's 10$ bonus cash). It was accepted for 41$(51$ after bonus cash) and got the Crowne Plaza Clark. With taxes it came to $105.7 for 2 nights.
  24. I see your point. Although I am driving up to NY on saturday early morning and directly going to NY city. I will go to the hotel at night. I am not sure how messed up the traffic could be on the way back at night. Next day (sunday) planning to get to the city early in the morning around 9. How high do you think I will have to go to get hotel in Rutherford area?
