  1. I stayed in this hotel for one night and I thought it was a great value. I won it on priceline for $45 a night. I stayed here because I was leaving out of O'hare the next morning and wanted a hotel with a free shuttle. We checked in on Sunday and got a room on the top floor. Check in was fast and courteous. The lobby and restaurants were beautiful and modern looking. We used the fitness center which was clean, up-to-date, and we had it all to ourselves. Parking is $20 a night with in-and-out access. There aren't any restaurants within walking distance. We walked to McDonalds cursing the whole time and hopped a cab on the way back. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a pool but since it is an airport/convention center hotel I wasn't that surprised. Overall I think I got this place for a steal and would be happy to stay there again.
  2. First bid of $45 was accepted. I had seen this hotel being accepted at this price, probably should have started lower. Oh well, a great price for a 4 star hotel! Congratulations, your price of $45 was accepted by Hyatt Regency O Hare. Hyatt Regency O Hare O'hare Airport (ORD) 9300 West Bryn Mawr Road Rosemont, Illinois 60018 847-696-1234 Check-In Date: Sun, Aug 17, 2008 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Aug 18, 2008 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.03 Total Charges*: $59.03
  3. I checked the next day and that hotel listing is gone. Hopefully that price will be available again since I am checking dates so far in advance.
  4. I read further down the DC board and came across Tsi2quick's post with the exact same scenario. I guess it's a toss up.
  5. Hotwire is showing a 4 star for $89/night for 10/02/08 - 10/06/08. After reading sugarcrystal8's post I too would like to win Hotel Palomar. The amenities are the same as he/she listed... Fitness center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Highspeed internet. I know...no guarantees...but it's looking similar to sugarcrystal's hotel wouldn't you say? Go Canes!
  6. Thereuare I have the same question... Hotwire is showing a 4 star for $89/night for 10/02/08 - 10/06/08. I too would like the Hotel Palomar. The amenities are the same but in a different order (not sure if that makes a difference). Fitness center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Highspeed internet. I know...no guarantees...but it's looking similar to sugarcrystal's hotel don't you think? Go Canes!
  7. I used luv2tri's strategy from the post on 12/2. I guess I'm going during a busy week seeing that most people are able to get a 3* in this area in the $40 range. It appeared Hotwire had the same hotel for $75 a night so I knew how high to bid before switching over to Hotwire. Rooms at this hotel are going for $149 on sites like Orbitz. No reviews of this hotel on this site but about 90% of the reviews on Trip Advisor were positive so that makes me feel a little better about the price. I lost count of how many bids I went through. But as I stated before I used luv2tri's exact strategy but had to start higher each time I tried a brand new bid. wdw $64 rebid wdw & universal/seaworld $66 rebid wdw & universal/seaworld & kissimmee $68 rebid wdw & universal/seaworld & kissimmee & orlando east $70-accepted Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $280.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $45.60 Total Charges: $325.60
  8. I agree that the Hyatt regency is a good compromise. I passed it the other day and thought how that is the place I will try to win the next time visitors come to Miami.
  9. Your Offer Price: $30.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $19.11 Total Charges: $109.11 Started with 3 stars, then 2 1/2, then 2.
  10. In Florida, UM refers to the greatest college football team ever and that is Miami!!! I dont know how close this is to downtown but it doesn't matter to me because my friends there live near the airport.
  11. I was trying to win the $46 Coral Gables Hyatt with free rebidding zones but to no avail. I added the airport area when I got to $60 since I frequently win that area at that price. As long I make it to the UM game then I'm set!
  12. I finally got through and they are allowing cancellations for people with check-in dates from 9/2 thru 9/6.
  13. I called them but now I am trying to reach them again to find out how long I have to make a decision and I can't get through.
  14. FYI...I just called Priceline and they are allowing me to cancel my reservation with no fees due to the hurricane.
  15. Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $138.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.28 Total Charges: $164.28 Started bidding at $40. I was given the option to up the bid $12 but thanks to the posts on this website I knew I could take my chance and hope to get it at $46. So I added a free rebidding zone and won at $46. This site was useful for other reasons too because I didn't know this was the weekend of the FSU vs. UM game until I read runNgun's post. My boyfriend is the biggest UM fan so luckily I am giving him enough notice to get me a ticket too! GO CANES!!! I think this is an awesome price because not only is it a huge college football weekend but because it is over labor day weekend too!
  16. Started bidding at $30 and kept adding rebidding zones.
  17. I tried Priceline several times and bid up to $125 for a 4* in the FQ and was never accepted. Expedia began to show hotels booked for some of the nights I needed. I gave up on Priceline and booked the Fairmont for $129 a night on Expedia. Hotwire was showing the cheapest 4* in FQ for $154. I guess the prices are high due to the holiday weekend.
  18. I am trying to bid for 2 rooms in a 4* in the FQ over memorial day weekend (5/27/04 -5/31/04). I added 3-4 bidding zones and bid all the way up to $110/night but all were rejected. Am I bidding too far in advance or are there just higher prices for the holiday weekend? Also, I don't know the area of New Orleans so I am assuming the FQ is the only zone to stay in that offers safety and convenience. We will not be renting a car so we want to stay somewhere that we can walk to the FQ safely and quickly. We don't mind spending a little more for the convenience. Are 3*s okay in this area? -Mel
  19. I thought it was more like a 2*. We were on the second floor and got the Priceline view of the roof of the 1st floor. For $15 more I can usually get a 4* for $60. I'm not sure why I couldn't get the same deal this time. I thought there would be lots of availability due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
  20. Taxes and fees: 13.90 Total $58.90 I am pretty sure this was the hotel Hotwire was listing for $50 a night. I bid for this on 11/24/03.
  21. There are 2 resorts in this area....the Hyatt Hill Country and the Radisson. The Hyatt was the only one around until the Radisson was built a few years ago. It appears everyone is winning the Hyatt but you take a chance on possibly winning the Radisson.
  22. I checked and it has the exact amenities that you listed in your reply.
  23. Price Per Night: $75.00 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes / Booking Fees: $29.95 Total Price: $179.95 Expedia is listing this hotel for $159/night. I prefer using Priceline but I bid up to $75 for a 4* and got rejected each time so I went with Hotwire. I am satisfied with this price because I expected it to be much more since the weekend I booked was on Valentine's weekend, President's Day weekend, and the weekend of the Austin Marathon which runs right through downtown.
  24. The parking for most of the 4* hotels downtown is $12-$14 if you use the hotel self parking feature. There are other lots around for $5 but they don't offer the in & out feature and I don't know if they allow over night parking....plus most of them do not have security. The SBC center is pretty close. It is only about a 10 minute drive. You must be going to the Spurs vs. Lakers game....sounds like fun.
