  1. Thanks to tenerifesharon & Fermat for their posts. We were in a jam as a cancelled flight forced a stay in Santiago, Chile for two nights. Ten minutes before boarding our flight to Santiago, we submitted our bid and it was accepted! Marriott Hotel, Area: Las Condes 2 rooms for 2 nights (7/16/11 - 7/18/11): $320.00 ($80/night/room) Taxes and Fees: $ 17.08 Total charge: $337.08 At the time, Expedia was showing a rate of over $250/night. Great Hotel & Staff.
  2. Started bidding at $125, countered with $167. Next bid at $135, countered with $173. Next bid at $155, countered with free bid if offer raised to $180. Added additional zone (Bloomsbury -Marble Arch), bid at $158..accepted. Saw LHFlyer's post (thanks!) and would have been happy getting Hilton Park Lane ($158). My bid was for two rooms. Breakdown is as follows: Offer price: $158/room/night Subtotal: $632.00 Taxs/Fees: $112.14 Total: $744.14 Marriott's lowest website price was 1,099.40 GBP, about $1,580.20.
  3. Will be posting as a new thread... Yes...I could have added additional zones, which I've done in previous areas. Will pass this info along in the thread.
  4. Hello, My wife and I have been searching for a hotel in MTW. We successfully got the Sofitel today. Here are the details: Arrival: June 9 Length of Stay: 2 nights Originally bid MTW beginning at $160 per night, and increased by $10 per night (over several days) until our bid was $200 per night. We did not add any additional zones as we would like staying in MTW. At $200 per night, offer was rejected BUT I received a "one-time" offer to increase my bid by $25 (per night) without changing any other bid criteria. I entered $225 per night and the offer was accepted. Final details: $450.00 for 2 nights $ 83.91 for Taxes and Service Fees _______ $533.91 Total Best rate posted by Sofitel at this time is a non-cancellation, no-change reservation at $319 per night. This is also the same rate posted by the major online reservations services. Good luck! Hope this helps with your bidding!
  5. Recently returned from our trip to Calgary. I had successfully obtained three rooms for Sept 3rd and 10th at $60 (US) per night. When checking in, I present my Starwood Preferred Gold Card. For the evening of Sept 3rd, the Westin upgraded us to the "club" floor. Rooms were very clean, comfortable, and spacious. On our return on Sept 10th, Westin upgraded all our rooms to "mini-suites"....very large rooms with sitting areas. Westin has all amenities...ironing boards, hair dryers, etc. Our friends were absolutely stunned at the rate we got. Staff and hotel were excellent. Highly recommend to all. Happy biddding!

  7. My first and second bids for 9/3/05 were for 4* (Downtown and then adding Airport Area). Bid was accepted at $60 by the Westin, Downtown, when I added 3* hotels to the bidding. I also received $60 from the Westin for 9/10/05. However, one combination of pricing that I did not try was 3*, Downtown, $55. I was rejected at Downtown, $50, on my 9/10/05 attempt. Good luck to all. Thanks to everyone for sharing information.

  10. Recently returned from our stay at the Renaissance Mayflower. We were very pleased with the hotel. Hotel is located within 3 blocks of two metro stations (Red, Blue/Orange lines), and there are several great restaurants within walking distance. Important note: When we first checked in, we were given a nice but very small room. However, we went back to the desk and the room was immediately changed...no questions asked. We enjoyed our stay there...service was excellent and hotel definitely rates 4*.
  11. We just returned from our trip to Washington, DC., and I am happy to report that the Renaissance Mayflower was an exceptional place to stay, and service was outstanding. One note worth mentioning: When we first checked in, we received a room that was quite small in size. We later asked if we could have a larger room and the request was quickly granted without any questions. We found that there were several great restaurants within walking distance, and the Metro was easily accessible (Orange/Blue lines within a block, and Red line about three blocks). We would highly recommend this hotel from our experience there.
  12. First bid was for Dupont Circle - Woodley Park at $80.00...rejected. Added White House - Downtown and increased bid to $90.00. Was accepted on this try. Thanks to TravelGuy for your great post on Sept 3rd to KatiesMom. We saw 4* going for over $100 in the most recent post to the White House/Dntwn area, so thought $90 was very reasonable. Other online booking sites started at $299 per night. :) Thanks to all for the helpful tips!!!
