  1. That Residence Inn is not all that new, as I have been staying there for a number of years, but, it is very nice and ideally located for walking over to the Cuthbert. I have never seen it on Priceline or Hotwire. The Hilton is not as new, but, if you are Hilton Gold or above, it has the best free breakfast buffet I have ever seen (outdoes the Beverly Hilton, in fact: fresh raspberries, blueberries, cooked to order omelets, etc. At $11 not a bad deal even if you are paying). But, my experience in bididng on Priceline has been that I wind up with the Valley River, which is well away from anything you want to do and I have not been happy with staying there: a big downgrade versus the Hilton. If you are able to tell that it is the Hilton you are getting on Priceline, grab it, otherwise, you may want to be careful. Hilton does charge $10 to park, though they will sometimes wave that. The Phoenix is good, also, and I have gotten that on Hotwire a time or two. Either the Hilton or the Phoenix will mean a substantially longer walk than the Residence Inn and Valley River will mean you are NOT walking.
  2. Amenities = Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities.
  3. Okay, this is a bit of a comedown, as not long ago, we were able to Hotwire the Phoenix Inn for $69, which, despite its rating, is the best place in town to stay. Phoenix is either no longer participating, or they are the $94 spot. I called Phoenix Inn to try to get them to give me the rate they were on Hotwire for last month, but, no-can-do. Anyhow, I thought this 2 1/2 * was going to be the Holiday Inn at Gateway, but it turned out to be the nearby Shiloh Inn. Never been there, or any other Shiloh, so a bit disappointed, as it has very mixed reviews, but it may turn out well. $75.46 is the best rate available on the Shiloh Website, though it can be had for $64.95 earlbird with a coupon, and this price beats that. Used the BetterBidding link to HOTWIRE to make this purchase...and I thank everyone for the valuable assistance garnered from this site.
  4. Thank you thereuare, and my apologies, as, yes, I did really blow the topic title. Two night stay June 18-June 21. 3* with these amenities: complimentary breakfast, fitness, pool, high-speed internet. And, I know there is a computer in the lobby, available for guest use at all hours., plus free USA Today for all. That breakfast by the way, is excellent and the facility is perfectly located, only a short walk to the Courthouse where I will be working, as well as a short walk to the UO Bookstore, where all the Duck stuff anyone could want can be bought at discount.
  5. While I have used PRICELINE for several years, this is my first venture into HOTWIRE and I owe a Thanks to this site and to poster epicureangirl, who recently posted her surprise that she had gotten the Phoenix Inn in Eugene for $69 + fees. Even their govt. rate, with a second person along, is $110, while the regular rate is more in the $139 +tax of about $15 range. So, when I looked and found that they had a 3* for $69,which Trip Advisor rates at 3.5, I checked TA and sure enough, Phoenix Inn was rated 3.5, so I figured it worth the gamble that it was the same thing epicureangirl got, and, sure enough, it was. Phoenix Inn is our preferred location in Eugene, so this is a great deal. I do thank you and, having now spotted your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to the providers at the top of the page, will use them in the future.
