  1. I was looking for a hotel in or near Hanover Park and bid $40 per night on this 2.5* hotel listed in the Bloomingdale / Carol Stream area. Dates - Aug 3rd-9th. I hoped it was the Country Inn and Suites and it was! The cheapest standard listing I could find was $85 per night, so our savings will really add up over our 6 night stay. I really appreciate all the information posted on this site. Thanks so much!
  2. I went ahead and bid through Priceline and won the Country Inn hotel in Roselle. hooray! $40 per night. August 3-9,2011. It was listed in the 2.5 star category for Bloomingdale - Carol Stream area.
  3. I have a question about Hotwire's star rating. Hotwire's standard listings for Hanover Park, Aug 3-9, show an Extended Stay America as 2 stars. The next closest hotel is Country Inn, in Roselle, listed as 3 stars. These are the only two hotels I can find within a 2.5 mile radius of Hanover Park, even using other travel search engines. Hotwire's "hot rates" for the Hanover Park-Roselle area show a hotel with a 2.5 star rating, $59 a day, within a 2 mile radius. Would the hot rate possibly be one of these hotels, despite the difference in star ratings? The price is a good savings over the regular listing but we'd also like to avoid the Extended Stay America if possible. I did see an earlier post in Feb 2011, that a Priceline hotel for Bloomingdale/Carol Stream area was the Country Inn, so that may be an option as well as booking something in Hoffman Estates. Thanks for your thoughts and help!
  4. 5. We stayed at the Poco Diablo in Sedona on 10/15/2004. Bill to our room viewed on TV showed PL paid $12.00 less for the room than PL charged us. Our winning bid was $130.00, which was $30.00 less than the cheapest rate we could find anywhere. Disappointing that we didn't get a killer rate of $60, but we did okay for peak season. I was skeptical about our stay because I had read some negative reviews about the hotel. The staff were pleasant and friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable although the carpet was frayed at bathroom doorway. This is an older resort and while the bathroom had no mildew as noted in other reviews, it could stand to be updated a bit. The room was spacious with a desk, small dining table, wet bar, refrigerator, armoire with TV, iron, clean ironing board and hair dryer. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The path alongside the golf course was a nice little stroll up to the restaurant where we had a great breakfast on the terrace, with a wonderful view overlooking the red mountains, golf course, gazebo and small lakes. All of the rooms are nonsmoking, however, someone smoked in the room next to us. We finally figured the smoke drifted into our room through the connecting doorway. That was our only complaint really. Definitely would stay here again. Cara
  6. I'm new here so hope I do this right. Successful bids in August for this resort were $60. per night so I knew the winter tourist season would be at least double in price. Priceline suggested a minimum bid of $169.00 for resorts but I could have booked directly with the resort for that price. My bid history: $80 - rejected $90 - rejected $105 - rejected $115 - rejected $130 - accepted (total with tax and fees is $150) I'll post a review of the hotel when we return. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions posted. We had a not so great Hotwire experience last year so I was skeptical about trying Priceline. However, I did my research, checked the various online travel agencies and with the hotels also to make sure I was not paying more through Priceline than if I booked directly. Cara
