First of all, I know I put "Montreal" in the title 3 times. It was intentional--the first is the City, the second is the area name, and the third is part of the hotel name. Well, I had read some lower bids getting the Delta Montreal, and I was more interested in the Hyatt Regency, so I went for $55 right away, following the bids of others that got the Hyatt, but alas, I got the Delta. It's still looks quite nice, and great for the price. I preferred Syracuse (East) to put us a little closer to Utica (running the Boilermaker in the morning), but I tried only East and up to $60 for 3*, 2.5* and 2* with no luck - The stubbornness is probably due to low availability this weekend because of Utica's big race. So I decided to add (North) instead of 1*, since being able to have a swim would be worth the extra 15 minutes drive. I read that $38 would probably get me the 2* Doubletree in Syracuse (North) but I didn't want another rejection, so I sprang for an even $40 and got it. Bid $34 for Thursday night, accepted. Tried to add Friday (same bid required), rejected but they counter-offered at $51 and I took it. Quite happy since the "wedding reception rate" we could have gotten if we had booked a month ago was $99/night.
