  1. Offer Price: $115.00

    Rooms: 1

    Nights: 3

    Room Subtotal: $345.00

    Taxes & Fees: $59.79

    Total Charged to Card: $404.79

Prior bid of $110 was rejected.

We were bidding on a 3.5* to in the hopes of getting the Kona Coast Resort and avoiding the resort fee at the Sheraton. Instead we were upgraded to the 4* Sheraton. This bid was for a friend and let's just say she is not unhappy about being forced to stay at this beautiful property and swim with the manta rays. :D

We used the betterbidding PRICELINE link

  2. Rate per night: $105.00

    Nights: 1

Tax recovery charges & fees: $22.91

    Subtotal: $127.91

    Trip total: $127.91

The amenities listed below were found AFTER the win. I cannot find the offer at this time for this date for the PRE-WIN amenity list though it was the only 3.5* offered that was PET FRIENDLY. I believe that is the tip off that it is the Radisson.

Amenities Pet friendly, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower.

No parking fee at this hotel which is a big bonus for this area.

  3. I won the Hilton Molino Stuckey several years ago (I believe it is posted in the appropriate section of Better Bidding). It was nice (though our view wasn't the best). The hotel offers free water taxi service so don't buy a multi day pass like we did. The hotel is on a smaller island off the main one. The pool on the roof was nice with great views. It took about 10 minutes by water taxi to get to St Marks Square. Very comfortable hotel with lots of amenities if you want them.

We rented apartments and studios with kitchens and laundry while we were in Europe and the cost was about the same or less than the hotels. it's another option to look into and can make the stay seem more like you are part of the community rather than just a tourist.

  4. It appears that there are more of these $25 off minimum $50 at Priceline. You need to sign up for an account (Free) at Borders.com and go to the Borders rewards tab. Look at the prior OO (Overwhelming Offers) and you should see the one from 8/10 for Priceline. You need to book by 8/13 and travel by 12/31/10. Make sure to the T&C carefully because your $25 is refunded AFTER your stay.

  5. First bid $55 Rejected

Added re-bid for $57 and was accepted

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $57.00

    Subtotal: $57.00

    Taxes & Fees: $14.63

    Total Charges*: $71.63

I used the Borders Overwhelming Offer $25 off coupon that I obtained this morning (there are no more left sorry :) ) so I could not bid through the PRICELINE link like I ALWAYS do. :)

We have annual Disney passes so this hotel will be great for a little 1 night getaway close to home.

  6. I'm not sure if this is the case all the time. I've done "test" bids with and without the bonus cash and came up with winning bids at the same total dollar amount both ways. It could be a case by case situation. I think it is a very small possibility that the rate was sold out within your timeframe. This is all theoretical so I would say don't base your entire bid strategy on this.

  7. 1st bid $73 +$10 Bonus Cash Rejected

    2nd bid $75 +$10 Bonus Cash Accepted

Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: more information $10.00

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $75.00

Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: $85.00

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $75.00

    Subtotal: $150.00

    Taxes & Fees: $31.70

    Total Charges*: $181.70

    Used the PRICELINE link.

Oops, Forgot to enter the other info in the title: $85...10/23-10/25/10

  8. Bid on a 3* and was upgraded to a 3.5*

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $65.00

    Subtotal: $65.00

    Taxes & Fees: $15.83

    Total Charges*: $80.83

Priceline may have changed the guidelines for same day bids because this was placed at about 6:03pm the day of arrival. The cutoff used to be 6pm local time.

I could have saved $10 (after taxes and fee's) if I had booked the hotel directly or with another website. I was trying to beat the deadline and didn't have time to research room rates that day (I had checked the day before and they were higher).

RANT: Read only if you want to.

I contacted Priceline about getting a refund for the $3 I paid over the base rate by using Priceline. I was told that requests must come in 24 hours before the stay. I sent an email to the corporate offices and received the same reply. I've heard nothing but negative reviews of Pricelines customer service and I have to agree that they need better training in customer relations. In my email I stated I was a long term user of Priceline (Over 15 years, back when we could bid on gas) and that I truly loved their service. Their response to me (not a form letter) was the company policy of 24 hour notice for changes. Period. End of response.

Maybe I am looking for something I shouldn't but I had at least hoped for a "Thank you for being a loyal Priceline user, sorry but we have to follow policy." Something to say they appreciated my business though they couldn't help me. Their response made me feel like they couldn't give a rat's a** whether i continued to use them or not. Very dissapointing. :)
