  1. I used your HOTWIRE link and see a 4* Midtown East area hotel for $153 on Hotwire (please let me know if I should relocate this to the hotwire board) with the following amenties, restaurant, business center, high speed internet access. Do you think this is the Kimberly Hotel or Helmsley NY?? Thanks!
  2. I did not end up going with Hotwire for this.
  3. We will be in NYC to visit St Johns University 11/10-12. I prefer to stay in Midtown because I'm familiar with the area and I like that area. I really can't afford to pay over $200/night and it will be me and my son so we really need 2 beds but could make a queen work I guess. Any suggestions or bidding strategies? Thanks! :D
  4. My research showed the lowest price for an economy car was approx $35/day for the period of June 15-19. I bid $23 and it was accepted. The pictured car was a Chevy Aveo, and I absolutely HATE that vehicle. I called National and inquired as to what types of vehicles are included in the Economy class, once I was informed they all have manual doors and windows I paid PL the extra $4/day and went with a midsize car for $27/day. This is expensive for a rental car compared to rates I have gotten in the past, but everything seems to be much higher now. $27/day was still cheaper than what I could have gotten on my own.
  5. Used the PRICELINE link and was able to get this vehicle for $14/day versus $18.95/day on HOTWIRE. Initially bid $12/day and was rejected and counteroffered $16/day. Waited 24 hours and rebid $14 and won!
  6. I am looking at the dates 4/11-4/14. On Hotwire for $64, a three star is listed with the following amenities. Beachfront, fitness, pool, restaurant, laundry and internet. Any ideas???? Thanks!
  7. HOTWIRE currently shows a compact car for $33.95/day but I would like to use PRICELINE to get the car cheaper. Can you provide me with a bidding strategy? Thanks
  8. The dates were July 23-24, and the winning bid was $60. One final note, it is 7-8 miles from airport, and in my opinion that is not an airport location.
  9. My sister used PRICELINE and ended up with this hotel. I just want to warn everyone that if you end up here they DO NOT have an airport shuttle. You will either have to take a taxi ($30-40) or you can take the blue line to the Wonderland station, and they will send the shuttle to pick you up there. They charge $5 one way or $8 roundtrip. for the shuttle to/from the Wonderland station. Caveat Emptor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I looked up the date July 22-23, and I received the following on Hotwire. $59 with the following amenities, smoke free, fitness, pool, restaurant, laundry and hi speed internet. Any ideas of what hotel this is??????????
  11. I need a car rental in Jackson Ms, June 15-18. Currently hotwire is offering an economy car for $46.95/day. YIKES, :) that seems really expensive, or is this the standard price for this area? Any insight or suggestions on a cheaper rate? Should I just keep a daily watch on this price? If I choose PL, how much should I bid? Thanks!
  12. Hotwire listed this rental for $13.95, I initially tried $8 on Priceline and they countered at $10. I eventually won it for $9. I wish I could have received the $5 I had in December but I will take the $9. I used the PRICELINE links!
  13. I won an economy car for $5 day with Hertz, and I USED the PRICELINE link.
  14. I chose to stick with my original Radio City reservation.
  15. An economy car FLL for 12/5 11 pm until 12/8 6:30 a.m. is currently $7.95 on Hotwire. I tried $4 on PL, but was unsuccessful. What price do you suggest, PL states I have a good chance with $5 however I know they are trying to get the maximum amount they can. Thanks!
  16. Yes my reservation at Radio City does have 2 beds. I was just trying to see if there was anything cheaper. If not I have stayed at Radio City before, and I don't have a problem with it, and the location is great.
  17. My only concern with bidding is I absolutely need 2 beds. With PRICELINE, I am willing to even do a 3 star, with good reviews of course. Midtown, Chelsea, Soho, MSG are areas I would like to stay in, but I am open as long as they are very close to the subway. Again its the fear of receiving a room with only 1 bed that concerns me the most, but we really need a cheaper room than our current reservation.
  18. Maximum is $150 if that is feasible. I currently have a ressie at Radio City Apts for $178 and just wanted to see if I could beat it. I agree on the unrated property, that would be pretty scary. Thanks!
  19. 2 star condo midtown east Amenities list condo, suite, studio, kitchen, a/c, 24 hour front desk, laundry and hi speed internet. $135 July 21-25. Any ideas, it doesn't exactly match the Best Western hospitality house. Thanks
  20. Is there anyway to ensure I will get 2 beds or a bed and a sofabed when using HOTWIRE or PRICELINE in NYC? I need this as me and my bff are going and we need 2. Thanks
  21. The $15 bid was accepted by Alamo. (Economy) I believe that is the same company I ended up with in December. The price was much cheaper then, I paid less than $10/day but I guess Spring Break may play a factor in pricing. The PL total was $53 cheaper than the lowest price I found for Alamo and that included discounts. I used the PRICELINE links and again Thanks BB! I am curious if anyone else reserved a economy car with Alamo in FLL in the past and they tried to give them a larger vehicle that burns more gas?? This happened to me in December, they tried to give me a minivan which I flatly refused and finally they found me a toyota corolla. I was going to South Beach, who wants to drive a minivan in South Beach?????????????? :)
