Awesome price in my opinion for a hotel we've stayed at several times.

This was a decent deal for me as my two cousins are joining us and are big eaters; the kickback snacks and breakfast will more than half pay for my room!

The best rate on Drury's website was:

  3. I posted last year that I had won Holiday Inn Express in River City. I couldn't find the thread your were referring to in your reply.

I used the link you provided, but didn't find a hotel for the same price. There was one that was for $86 in the same area and it listed these amenities.

  4. Thanks for posting. I just booked through Hotwire for the same hotel and I used the HOTWIRE link. :) We have stayed in this area before at Harrah's. I think it's a great location for St. Louis if you don't mind staying outside of the city. It's a nice, clean neighborhood with easy interstate access! This trip is October 25-27.

  5. I looked at this topic Priceline Rockford Illinois and thought I would try the same strategy. Low and behold, my bid for $43 was accepted for three rooms, Friday-Sunday, at the Courtyard Marriot. I was actually trying for the 2.5* hoping that it was the Best Western Clocktower so that we could use the waterpark (additional charge).

The total for three rooms, three nights was $300.42 including all taxes/fees. I called the property and they were incredibly nice. They will even have a fridge and microwave in oneof our adjoining rooms for no extra charge. We were planning on booking at the Clocktower and they had a charge for a fridge and no microwave available so this was a much better deal. (We're traveling with a child who has special needs.)

Reviews seem mixed so I hope that it is a nice stay.

  6. That's exactly right. It didn't have to do with the Hyatt brand...It was simply that they have removed their pool and it is no longer available. I saw on this website that the amenities shown were also the amenities for the Hyatt, so I wanted to make sure that if I ended up with the Hyatt in St. Louis that no longer has a pool, that I would have some sort of recourse. It could have been any hotel.

As a side note, I was thrilled about the Hilton until I read some of the reviews. I called down there to request king beds in the rooms and they were very rude to me when I requested it. She said, "Oh, you booked through Hotwire." Have you noticed that you get a different level of treatment? I ended up calling Hotwire and the very nice customer service person called them and put in the request. I'm probably rooming in the broiler room!

  7. Thanks! I was just shocked that the price was so low over the Fourth of July holiday because the St. Louis Fair is going on downtown. I'm hoping the ratings are actually a little higher. It looks like they recently remodeled. Maybe the old ratings are affecting their score. Still...for $77.50 (plus parking) I hope it was a good buy! There is a game on the 2nd, but unfortunately not the 3rd or 4th.

  8. It was Hilton at the Ballpark! I'm so excited because I thought that it would be the Hyatt. By the way, the Hyatt no longer has a pool. I called Hotwire and they told me that if you book the Hyatt and it showed a pool, that they will refund it and rebook at a different hotel.

    Here are our trip details.

Check-in Friday, July 3 for two nights in two rooms.

Personally, I can't get over that we got two rooms with a Friday and Saturday night stay at the Hilton in Downtown St. Louis for such a steal! Hilton's best rate came out to $499.80 for the rooms and taxes. We saved $180!!! I hope the hotel is better than the reviews on Tripadvisor....maybe it won't be such a steal after all!

    Thanks for all the help!
