  1. Hotel Palomar (4*boutique) Westwood; Brentwood-Westwood region 7/9/10-7/11/10 $121/night=$242, add "taxes and fees" of $44.60= $286.60 grand total I wanted a place very close to UCLA, so first tried bidding 3.5* for Brentwood-Westwood and Beverly Hills-W.Hollywood at $80/night, unsuccessfully. Decided to wait 24hrs and rebid, this time restricted to Brentwood-Westwood area, 3.5 stars at $101/night...rejected but got a "special offer" because of the area and star level (per Priceline) at $121/night. Decided the area was that important to me, so I took it. Thanks, Better Bidding.
  2. :) This was a comfortable hotel with kitchenette and wonderful staff. We stayed 12 days, cooking most of our meals. There were: a large microwave, full-sized fridge, a two-burner stove top, a small dishwasher, a garbage disposal, and better than expected pots and pans. I wished I had packed a sharp chef's knife and a non-glass cutting board.Missed having an oven, but they let me use the gas grill off the breakfast room. The room was a studio, with a queen bed, comfortable stuffed chair and ottoman, and desk(doubling as table). The bathroom was standard. All in all it was quiet, clean and pleasant. The laundry room near the front desk has 4 or 5 washers and 6 dryers, all free. The exercise room, with treadmill, free weights, elliptical, and stationary bike, was just down the hall from the laundry room, so you can work out while waiting for your laundry to cycle. There was a small hot tub off the exercise room, but we didn't use it. There is free wireless in the room and a good business center near the front desk. The complimentary continental breakfast was better than most, but still only continental breakfast. Parking was free, ample, and near the front desk. The advertised shuttle does not operate on the weekends (apparently a recent change, and not good news when you have newly arrived at the airport), and the cab fare is nearly $20 one way despite being less than 10 miles from SEATAC. However, during the week you can arrange to have the shuttle take you to nearby (by car) grocery shopping or to a movie at no charge. For seeing downtown Seattle a hotel closer to the city's central attractions would be preferable, but this is a very economical (when booked through Hotwire) solution for someone needing the conveniences of home. If there is something nearby besides car dealerships, Southcenter Mall, and corporations, I missed it. We stayed 10 days booked through Hotwire at $69/night, and extended for 2 more days at the AAA rate of $109 (non-AAA $129). Now the best part: the staff. These folks were the warmest, most eager to be helpful staff I have ever experienced. This did not come off as sycophantic or "hotel policy", but rather as genuine. If this hotel is near your Seattle destination, I'd say go for it!
  3. Amenities listed for Larkspur Landing (upcoming trip 6/21-7/1/09): Suite, fitness center, high-speed internet access, airport shuttle, business center, kitchenette, complimentary breakfast, laundry facilities. Sorry about the omission. Purchased at $69/night on 6/2/09.
  4. After days of trying Priceline for more central location(Last rejected bid $102 bid today for 3* Lake Union, Seattle Center, Univ. District) and speaking directly with reservations clerk at Residence Inn Lake Union (who said reservations were "tight" because of high season, no particular event) AND kind help from BB, I successfully booked this stay (note that it is the whole 10 day span) on HOTWIRE through BB at Larkspur Landing, which has the kitchenette I need. Thanks so much for all your help!
  5. I've been trying to get a hotel through Priceline in Seattle 6/21-7/1/09 and striking out royaly. Thanks to WillTravel for the earlier feedback...I'm an internet newby and couldn't find your message when I went to reply. I have added the Univ. District and Downtown to my original Lake Union zone, and bid from $70 to $85 to $87(3*) without luck( I decided it was the length of stay that was the problem and broke my dates, bidding on these zones for the dates 6/23-6/30, figuring I could stay near the airport for the last night and find something else for the first 2 nights). My son's surgery is scheduled for 6/24, and I need a hotel with an elevator for him, wireless internet, and one near a source of healthy prepared food(eg., Whole Foods, as per WillTravel's suggestion), or with a kitchen. We will have his car, so parking is an issue. Is there some big event in Seattle during these times that I don't know about? My husband just stayed at the Lake Union Residence Inn through Priceline for $85/night, and that was Memorial Day weekend!
  6. I've been using Priceline to find a hotel for a 10 night stay in Seattle so I can care for my son after his surgery. The dates are 6/21-7/1/09. I see that there are only 3 hotels in the Lake Union area at the 3* level, and 2 of them offer kitchens in the room, very helpful to me in caring for him post-op. I decided to take a shot, as my odds of getting what I want are 2 of 3, and the non-PRICELINE rate of $149/night is too high for my budget. I tried bidding $70, then $80, then $85 without success. I will bid again tomorrow through the BB PRICELINE links, but as your members have won much lower rates in Seattle, I wonder if my date span is the problem. I'm not experienced with HOTWIRE, so I haven't tried it on this trip.
