  1. I want to book a hotel for February 12-15. I need to be near the airport, preferably by the MoA. Is it better to wait until closer to my travel dates or go ahead and book? Thanks
  2. Just got back and the Marriott Wardman Park was perfect for our needs! It is literally steps away from the Woodley Park Metro elevator and right across the street from the main entrance(escalators). The grounds and hotel are beautiful! There is also a CVS, McD's and italian pizzeria across the street, among other things. Our room was on the 7th floor and had a view of the Washington Monument. We did not have single problem and really enjoyed our stay. Parking was to be $32/night, but we just parked at the Ballston Mall in Arlington($8/day) and metroed in. Internet was $12.95(why do the more expensive hotels charge for this?) so we passed on that. The hotel was several blocks from the zoo, which we really enjoyed. All in all, it was a great deal, and I only wished we had booked another night when we had the chance, so we wouldn't have had to pack and move. Marsha
  3. Just wanted to give a review of this hotel in case anyone else gets it. We had a great one night stay here! They gave us a top floor room with a view of the Pentagon! We went to open the balcony door and discovered it was more of a sunroom than a balcony; it was a really neat little nook. The hotel was really plush. Only drawbacks were that it wasn't close to the metro(there WAS a shuttle) and internet was 9.95 for 24 hours. Parking was $9/night which wasn't bad at all.
  4. I needed another night at the end of our trip(to recover from all that walking ;-)) and bid $70 for a 3.5* using Alexandria or Crystal City as my zones for the night of 6/17. Already got the Marriott Wardman Park for my 6/15-6/16 stay. This Hilton has mixed reviews, but it is only for the night and at least parking is only $9/night here. I went through the PRICELINE link here. Marsha
  5. Have you tried adding Dupont Circle? I got the 3.5* Washington Marriott Wardman Park for $95/night June 15-17. There is a metro stop right next to the hotel. I actually bid for 2.5* or better using Dupont, Foggy Bottom, White House, and Convention Center(hoping for Capitol Suites)
  6. Okay, finally got a bid accepted by adding Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom to my selected zones and choosing 2.5* or better. Got the 3.5* Washington Marriott Wardman Park for $95/night, it has a metro station right outside :) $37/day to park(OUCH!) but sounds like a pretty decent hotel. Oh, changed my nights from 3 to 2 nights, so now 6/15-6/17. I figure we can park in a lot for 6/17 and tour all day, then either drive home to NC or get a cheap hotel further into VA. Used the PRICELINE link here. Thanks for all your help! Marsha
  7. It was the Quality Inn and Suites on Richmond Highway. I can't find where I found it for $90 now, but it is $99 on the hotel website. It has mixed reviews. Do you know much about DC areas? I don't know zones to add to stay in a more safe area. Is there somewhere to find that kind of information/review about certain zones vs, hotels? Thanks
  8. Still trying to place a winning bid. I upped my bid to $100/night, but still a no go for Convention Center/Capitol Hill and White House. Have also tried up to $80/night for Arlington or Alexandria 3*. I can get a hotel with good reviews in Alexandria for $90, so I may just go that way if things don't change. Does it ever get easier to get a hotel for a better price as dates draw closer? I am only 2 weeks out right now.
  9. You can look at the list in the sticky above to see what hotels have been reported in each area. I don't know about 4*, but I got the 3* Hyatt Place Orlando for $30/night in July. It is 1/4 mile away from Universal. I just bid for a 3* in the Universal/Sea World area. Good luck! Marsha
  10. 3* Orlando(Universal-Sea World) Hyatt Place Universal $30 Dates-- 7/6-12 :) I am very happy with this hotel! It is the one I was hoping for! Marsha
  11. I am planning a trip to DC with my teenage son. The dates are 6/15-6/17. I am hoping for a 3* in the Convention Center/Capitol Hill area. I am hoping for the Residence Inn. Is there a way to increase chances of getting that one? There are a lot of 3*s in that area. I also was looking at 2.5* On your list, the only hotel in that * category is Capitol Hill Suites. WOuld that mean I have a better chance of getting that one? Marsha
