  1. Amenities listed through details within my trips, Free Internet Pet Friendly Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Accessible for the blind Accessible path of travel Handicapped parking Earlier within the hotel details, Tripadvisor 4 out of 5.0 Recommended 90% 243 reviews (Real Hotwire reviews) Overall satisfaction 4½ Condition of hotel 4½ Quality of service 4½ Room comfort 4 Room cleanliness 4½ Location of hotel 4 (Mods: please delete my other thread in priceline forum, thanks)
  2. Started bidding from CAD$100 to CAD$136, all failed so far. Is there something going on in YVR that weekend? Alternatives/bid ceiling would be the Priceline express CAD$176, Hotwire for about the same price CAD$173 Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
  3. Quick review of the Ayres Hotel (2 night stay) It was great! The decor is on the more "interesting" side (Oyster has a review if you want good pictures). Room was spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable. Free buffet breakfast was good (fruits, muffins, 2 hot dishes, waffle maker, cereal, etc.) Free internet/parking worked fine. Driving to/from tourist spots was easy enough. All in all a pretty good stay. Would recommend it if you want free breakfast/wifi/parking and don't mind the location/view (we had a view of bed bath and beyond & staples across the street)
  4. 4* El Segundo - Manhattan Beach Bid $132 - Rejected, counter-offer for $154 Bid $134 - Rejected. Bid $135 - Accepted. Ayres Hotel Manhattan Beach. Thanks forum!
  5. Thank you all for the advice and suggestions so far. After much review/research, I have narrowed done to the following, (very much influenced by the tripadvisor rating, both of the following have >80% 4.5 rating and are #1 in the respective zones) 1. PRICELINE EXPRESS deal 4* Santa Monica $250. Inclined to think this is the Shore Hotel from the bed selections descriptions(330sqft, Garden/City/Ocean View, 37" TV) matching the descriptions on the hotel website. 2. PRICELINE bid (start $100 to $125+) for 4* El Segundo. Hoping to get the Ayres Hotel, seems like an good deal especially with parking included. I will start bidding for the Ayres and will take it from there =) edit: Tried bids from $110 to $130 without success. The PRICELINE EXPRESS deal is $144. Will try increments of $2 from $130 onwards =)
  6. Not much luck with bidding. Tried bids up to $145 for a 4*. Saw a recent forum posting for a $150 bid for the Sheraton which I am hoping to avoid... Considering the hotwire 4* for $243 a night with the following amenities, (4.5 out of 5 Tripadvisor rating) Pet friendly Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Inclined to think it is the Viceroy based on tripadvisor rating and pet policy... What does the forum think?
  7. Preferably below $150 per night after fees. (I think that's about a $125 bid) I will try same strategy for bidding 3.5* after bidding up to $125 for a 4*. Failing that I might start bidding at other LA areas, probably near hollywood. And I am more than happy to use the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start my purchases and searches.
  8. Tried bidding a few days ago from $100 onwards. Will see if I get lucky at any point. Any advice is appreciated (or suggestions for an alternate place to stay), thanks! edit: bid up to 109 today. Will continue tomorrow =)
  9. Hello, Just a quick review on Executive Airport Plaza. Stayed in the annex building, or west wing I think. Right at the end next to the fire escape. Overall the room felt old, but spacious, clean and comfortable. There was enough room for a couch, coffee table and a desk+chair. Parking was included. Building was old, e.g. button for the elevator was labeled "car call", and there is no centralized AC but a wall attached unit in the room. Everything worked fine, refrigerator was noisy so I turn it off during my stay. All in all a good deal if you don't mind the dated feel of the place. Location was also good. Ceili's and a steakhouse in the same building/area. And there is a newly renovated mall a few blocks away.
  10. Alright. Pulled the trigger at Expedia website at 67 USD /night, total was 165.54 (Used the link found on the support page) and I got the.... Executive Airport Plaza Reviews seems okay (Rank 15 of 25 tripadvisor, 4.0/5 rating). Will post more after the trip. Not entirely sure how to post the win since I used Expedia instead of hotwire (sorry! hope that doesn't cause any issues here).
  11. Sorry about that. Following is the most recent search in USD. June 8 to June 10 2013 (2 nights) 3.5* Richmond - Vancouver Intl Airport YVR area hotel Pet friendly, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking. Recommended in 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. 71 USD per night (total 2 nights after fees, 173.97 USD) Amenities seem to match up with Hilton. Might pull the trigger soon.
  12. Hello all. Just a quick update to say that I ended going with a vacation rental near daly city. Worked out because it turn out to be 5 of us and one of us had a car and was able to drive us around. Thanks again for your comments!
  13. Hello, Looking to stay 2 nights in Vancouver. Did a few quick priceline bids for 4* star downtown at 65, 68, 70 with no luck. Thinking of going with hotwire this time. The following deal looks good, 73 CAD (after tax 2 nights is 179.12) 3.5 star 90% Recommended Amenities: Pet Friendly Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible path of travel Handicapped Parking I'm thinking it could be delta, maybe hilton. The pet friendly throws me off, don't usually see this, is it new? Anyway, any advice or recommendations is much appreciated. Thank you! Quick side question: Is it common to have a small difference in rate between hotwire and Expedia unpublished rate? Are they even the same hotel? A similar listing (3.5 star, similar area, exact same amenities) totals 174.48 in Expedia. Any advice on difference between hotwire and Expedia?
  14. Hello, Looking to stay in union square 4* between 23/4 till 26/4. Below is my bidding attempt (just started today), any advice is much appreciated. Should I increase my upper limit to about 120 - 125? Or maybe consider other areas nearby (e.g. financial district, fisherman's wharf, SOMA) Haven't been to SF before and been told union square would be a good place to stay (close to all the tourist spots, easy access to transport) Thanks forum! 15. Hello forum, back from the trip with a review. The hotel was... okay. Definitely worse than the holiday inn I stayed at previously. - Elevator was old and slow, but there are only 3 floors I think. Long corridors though... - The 'priceline room'(I'm assuming) is next to the elevator. The last time I saw a room this close to the elevator was in hong kong or Japan, literally next to it. - Surprisingly, noise from the elevator wasn't loud, it was actually people stomping around(very noticeable) and the highway traffic noise(moderately noticeable) that are annoying. - Furniture, carpet, fixtures, cabinets does feel pretty old. - Bathroom was large. but was like walking down into a cave (it is 2 steps lower than the bedroom) - Free breakfast but I did not check it out. - Upgrade to a room with a king size bed is $20. Would I stay here again for the same price? Nope. Would I stay here again for a cheaper price? Maybe if it were around $50 after tax. Anything higher you are better off with a higher class or something in downtown.
  16. Hello, Tried 3.5* at $60 failed Changed to 3* and won the bid at $54. (After tax was 69.95) Was hoping for the holiday inn again, but we'll see how this one goes. Thanks forum =)
  17. Quick review on the hotel. Clean and comfortable. Free wifi. Even had a microwave. Wouldn't mind staying again.
  18. Hello, Decided to bid again on priceline $52 for 3* Vancouver Airport. Got the Holiday Inn Vancouver Airport ($68 after tax) Thanks forum!
  19. Hello, 1 night Oct 26 $60 Bid for 3.5* @ Vancouver Airport failed, counter offer for +$16 = $76 (I declined) $65 Bid added downtown Vancouver, failed. Using hotwire as a benchmark, there is a 3* Vancouver Airport for $62 3.5* Vancouvr Airport for $75 Deciding what to do next. Will update this thread when complete.
  20. Hotel is good, free wifi and business center(with printing) available. Rooms are not big but comfortable (asked for an upgrade and got the queen room from the original petite room.) Again, good location, subway nearby, as with a duane reade on the next block, lots of good food nearby too. Might have been a good thing I did not get the hotel in financial district, that area at night is really quiet when I was there on the weekend. Weekend subway service is also a tricky thing to navigate.
  21. Hotel was awesome. Asked for a complimentary upgrade an got the 2xdouble bed room. No internet available in room, but free wifi available in lobby along with a few workstations. Good location, always busy, duane reade(24hr drugstore) nearby, no complaints. Lots of UK and Japanese people around when I stayed.
  22. Did not manage to get the 4* soho deal as above. Also did not want to put further effort into this. Posted the win (3.5* Radisson) in the hotwire forums. Thank guys for your help!
  23. 187 USD after tax&fees. Amenities shown: Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet Wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I think it will do just fine. Thanks!
  24. Club Quarters World Trade/World Centre is a guess. A very tempting offer... will likely take it if bidding is unsuccessful in the next few days.
  25. Seems to be a new entry, 4* - Downtown - SoHo - Financial District Area Hotel - 152 USD (184 USD after fees) (Recommended in 80% Hotwire Customer reviews, 8 rooms left) Amenities: Fitness, Business, Laundry, Internet which narrows it down to Club Quarters World Trade (tripadvisor rank#146)
