  1. First bid, which always annoys me, since I think I overpaid. Lowest rate on the hotel website was EUR 120/night.
  2. A few more follow-up notes: 1) I checked into the second room on the bid after the previous post. Well, things only improved on the room front. Again, no mention was made of Priceline, just friendly service at the desk. They handed my friend his key and we were on our way. The room turns out to be a suite - living room, dining table, two bathrooms, harbor views, and all mod cons. Fantastic room. Once again, the quality of the furnishings and room design is really top-notch here. 2) Arriving back after midnight on Friday showed how hip this place has become. The bar off the lobby was packed, with a pretty crowd. Could be a decent place to grab a drink. And, while it isn't Paris Hilton, my friends did spend the next morning sharing the gym with Sandra Bullock, so it is on the radar of the celebrity set, as well. 3) Check-out largely confirmed my suspicions about where this place probably misses the mark. The line was maybe 10 people deep and wasn't moving that quickly. A lot of folks seemed to be lugging their own bags. In general, the staff didn't seem quite large enough to provide the level of service that the quality of the facilities would suggest. Nonetheless, everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful.
  3. Just wanted to post a quick follow-up. This might be the best value I have ever received from PRICELINE. This hotel pushes the upper limit of 4* hotels. It may not be at the level of the Ritz or Four Seasons, but gosh it is close. The public areas are stunning. The rooms are great. Bathrooms awesome. The only thing that would hold it back (guessing here) is that it might not meet the standards of service of a true 5-star. Nobody was clamoring to take my bag when I got out of the cab - it was only a single rollaboard, but how would they know? No mention of PRICELINE at check-in. The gentleman at check-in was more than happy to give a two-bedded room that is pretty big, considering we are talking DT Boston - bigger than the Four Seasons Boston room I have been in. Great value at $100.
  4. Not sure what happened to the title (character limit?), but the dates are 3/28 to 3/30, and was for 2 rooms. Started at $75, hoping for a deal. Added Back Bay and went to $85. Added Brookline for the free re-bid and went to $95. Added Medford/Somerville and bid $105. Taxes and fees = $66.32 for a total of $486.32 All in all, pretty happy with the outcome. Would have loved to find something cheaper, but excited to land the IC, which looks like a nice place. Apologies for forgetting to use the PRICELINE link, it just slipped my mind.
  5. Started at $125 in the 4*+ Champs Elysee zone, which is the only 4*+ zone in Paris. Was offered a counter @ $201/room. Added another zone (don't remember, which) and bid $150. Rejected. Added another zone (still don't remember, but doesn't matter) and bid $175. Rejected. Added another zone (does anyone even care if I remember at this point) and bid $185. Accepted. I am pretty happy. The best deal we had found for this class of hotel was Euro 240 at the Hilton Arc de Triomphe. Saved nearly $100. Sorry that the header is not consistent - I just didn't pay close enough attention.
  6. 3 Nights (3/10 to 3/13) $75/night $49.25 fees and taxes $274.24 Total Started bidding at $60 in the Marble Arch area. Added Westminster and went to $65. Added South Bank and went to $68. Added Regent's Park and went to $70. Added Kensington and won at $75. Pleasantly surprised to get this hotel, which seems well-regarded and in a good location. I was afraid to get the Copthorne (bad reviews) or something buried way into Kensington, so I added this location last. Might have overpaid a little because of that. Still $75 seems like a bargain for this place.
  7. First bid - 3* DT at $50, rejected. Added Lake Union and re-bid for $55. Taxes and Fees added $24 total.
  8. It's actually probably the weekend dates. The Head of the Charles is that weekend, so everything is probably booking up.
  9. I think that is actually a pretty fair price for October. Boston is mobbed during October due to various parents' weekends at all of the colleges. The Collonade Hotel is actually very nice. I've had friends who have stayed there and loved it. The location is nice, across the street from the Prudential Center Shopping Mall. There is also a Green Line stop right out the front door. The restaurant (Brasserie Joe) is a great little French brasserie with a nice brunch.
  10. THIS IS ACTUALLY A 3* - I MESSED UP THE TITLE. Started bidding at $30 for a 3* hotel in Downtown. Bid rejected. Priceline offered a free rebid if I raised my price by $8 - declined. Added NW Portland for the free re-bid. $34 bid accepted. Lowest priced DT hotel on Expedia was Shilo Inn for $65/night. Here is the summary: Doubletree Hotel And Exec. Meeting Center Portland-Lloyd Center Your Offer Price: $34.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $34.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $10.46 Total Charges: $44.46
