  1. I just took Hotwire up on a $67 night at the Windham in downtown Baltimore for 6/6. It looks like their current rate for that night is $135, so this is about 1/2 price.... Works for me. Thanks for a great site!
  2. Sorry for the mis-information... I meant to put Capital Hill & White House were my bidding areas... Sorry about that. Thanks for your help. Bryan
  3. OK, after MUCH bidding and re-bidding, I looked closely at Orbitz and found that 6/6 night was a higher price on several hotels... Due to this, I bid Capital and Convention Center for 4* $80 and got it... Maybe I should have started lower. Capital Hilton $80 6/4 - 6/6 It looks like I could have gotten this direct for $149, but it still seems like a good deal. Now to figure out what to do for the night of 6/6.
  4. There is not a preference for a specific zone. It just looks like those zones are accessible to the "tourist" areas. Thanks, Bryan
  5. I am planning a trip to DC 6/4-6/7. We will be wanting to see the normal sites and a couple museums, so I am thinking that the areas we would be looking are: Convention Ctr - Capitol Hill area Area Details Dupont Circle - Woodley Park Area Details Georgetown - Foggy Bottom Area Details White House - Downtown Area Details I would like to try for 4* in the range of $90 or less if possible... If not, we will probably drop to 3*. Are there any bidding suggestions to make this work? Also, are there other areas which we should consider staying? I am not set on any area in particular, I just want to be able to get around while there... We will have a car to get to the hotel, but I would prefer using Hotel or public transportation to get to our "local" destinations. Thanks, Bryan
  6. After reviewing the prices which people have been getting, I tried the following process... I thought that I would go real nice for cheap, which did not work.. 1> 4* Airport $40 REJECTED 2> add Southwest $45 REJECTED 3> add Northwest $50 REJECTED OK, now back to my attempt at less than $50.... 1> 3* Southwest $35 REJECTED 2> Add Burnsville $40 REJECTED 3> 3* Airport $40 REJECTED 4> Add Southwest $45 ACCEPTED Marriott Minneapolis Southwest/Minnetonka Minneapolis Southwest 5801 Opus Parkway Minnetonka, Minnesota 55343 952-935-5500 I don't see this one on your list, so you may need to add it. I should have used Coon Rapids and Maplewood between 2 and 3, but I did not see that they did not have 3 star until after I won the bid.. Probably did not change the results anyway. And yes, I bid through Savingsbarn.com. Thanks for a great site. See you for my Washington DC trip next.... Bryan
  7. Thank you all for the help on getting the last part of my trip to Boston figured out. Now, I need to work on the front end... I am looking at hotels for the nights of 10/20 and 10/21. I am not sure which area may be best. We will be doing the general tourist / sightseeing, so I would think that somewhere near a "T" station would be required. We will also be flying into Logan airport, so a shuttle would be great, but not absolutely required since we can take a cab if necessary. I am open to any suggestions for zones. Price should be in the $50 - $100 range per night if possible. Thanks in advance, Bryan
  8. Thanks again for the tips above.. I got Oct 24-26 for $50 / night at the Hyatt. We are now looking at the nights of the 20th and 21st, off to see friends for the other 2 dates. I tried the revere-logan area for these dates and was rejected, so I am guessing that either the 20 or 21 is still a problem night. For these dates, the location does not have to be near the airport as it did with the end, so if anyone has any suggestions, I would be interested in hearing them. We have not really decided what we want to see yet, so I would say that a hotel or zone near the "T" would be nice. Airport shuttle would also be ideal, but we can get a cab from the airport if necessary. Thanks again for your help... This board has already saved us big $$$. Bryan
  9. Thank you for the comments. My wife has a friend that we will probably go see during the trip, so it looks like we need to make that on the 21. I will post back tomorrow (hopefully) with my results... Thanks again. Bryan
  10. Subject should be 10/20-26 (October, not November) Hello everyone.... I am trying to get a deal like the $50 Hyatt which I saw on this board, but no luck... can anyone give any suggestions... Here is what I have tried. Revere-Logan $60 REJECTED + Zone 1 $70 REJECTED Revere - Logan + Zone 2 $80 REJECTED + Zone 1 $85 REJECTED ..... Adding various zones to reach $100/night... 4* All REJECTED. Am I just being too cheap? I have checked the convention schedule, and there is a sports dinner on Friday night with 800 attendees, but that is the night which someone got a $50 room at the Hyatt, so I don't think that is a factor. Suggestion? Thanks, Bryan
