  1. I really didn't want to spend a lot so I tried very low offer and took a few days for my offer to be accepted. 1st try - $38 (selecting only 3* in Danbury) -rejected but I was told that I can try again if I up $11 more. I ignored it. 2nd try - $39 (selecting only 3* in Danbury, Southbury and Waterbury areas) - rejected, but I was told that I can try again if I up it $12 this time. I ignored it. 3rd try - $41 (selecting only 3* in Danbury) - rejected. 4th try - $42 (selecting only 3* widen the area to Danbury, Southbury, and Waterbury) - accepted. With taxes and fees, it is just under $55.
  2. Hi, This may be very silly question. I have used Priceline several times now, but it just occurred me. Priceline says "save up to half price" for their name your price bidding. But what does it really mean? Just curious....
  3. Hi, I selected 4 star hotels in "Downtown San Diego & Harbor Island" area, and I put $66. That was my first offer and it got accepted. I didn't really need a fancy place, and could stay in other areas, but because I could try keep bidding for less stars in other locations, I thought I would just give it a try. And it worked! It comes as $82.20 include tax and fees. Not bad. : )
  4. I planned to visit Berkshire area, so my first hotel choice was anything above 2 & 1/2* in Berkshire. My first bid for $56 was rejected (I selected Lee, Pittsfield, and Great Burlington). Then I added Williamstown area to the selection and bid for $57. The offer was rejected again. I had no desire to spend more than $80 including tax, so I decided to switch and stay in Springfield area. My first bid for $45 was accepted. It came to just under $70 with all tax and fees. Not bad. . . I also used the PRICELINE link to make my bid.
  5. Yes, it was Hyatt Place! And yes, continental breakfast (with fruits, yogurt, juices, variety of coffee in addition to normal pastry and bread) was included in the room price. And free shuttle to the airport. Thank you for clarifying!
  6. $45 was my first bid and it was accepted. With taxes and fees the total cost was $59.39. With quite good breakfast (Continental) and airport shuttle, I was very satisfied.
  7. Hello, Thanks for comments and advise for my last post. I started to plan a short trip around New England and today I would like to know if I am understanding this Priceline system correctly. I am thinking of visiting Berkshire area in Massachusetts. One place I think it will be convenient for us to stay is in Lee or Pittsfield area. In Priceline, there is only one 3 * hotel in whole region and it is in Pittsfield. Does it mean if I pick 3 * hotel and make a bid it's pretty much certain that the hotel I will get is the one hotel in Pittsfield? If this is true, I am thinking of starting very low bid as I have some days before my trip, so I can continue to bid with slightly high offer every 24hrs. Is this correct assumption? Or as Priceline says "the hotels might be different from what you have seen. . . " dose it mean Priceline may include some 2 star hotels in possible hotels for my bid?
  8. Hi, I am very new using Priceline, and this may be a very silly question, but I am serious. Of course, I would like to spend as little money as possible for getting a hotel room. But, I am worried if I get a bad service because my bid is too low, like the worst room is offered or room not get cleaned properly and so on. So my questions are, Can the front staff see how much money I am paying for the room? Have anyone had any experience not being treated nicely because of the low bid? I don't worry about it too much if I am using Priceline for major cities as hotel people surely see wide range of price and guests. But I am now looking for a hotel in a small town where there is only one three star hotel and I don't know if they see many Priceline bidders as their guests. . .
