  4. All of those areas are safe these days. If your wife is interested in a shopping trip, Midtown East and Upper East Side would be great and there are also plenty of restaurants. Everything is easy to get to via subway and taxi from all of the areas that you have mentioned.
  5. I've lived and worked in the DC area now for almost a decade and stayed at about a dozen hotels, and would recommend checking out the Woodley Park/Zoo areas as well as Dupont Circle. They are in close enough proximity to all the major attractions but are safe areas with good restaurants.
  6. Started bidding this Sunday 4/3/11 using free rebid zones. Was interested in booking a 4* in either the Harborfront/Aquarium area or Copley Square-Theatre District. Started off at $110 and by adding rebid zones got up to $145 and gave up for the evening. Re-evaluated by referencing Hotwire's offerings and found that the Westin was listed at $172 a night. Thinking I could do about 10% better on Priceline, I bid $160 this time for Copley Square-Theatre District only (considering that is where the Westin is and thought it would be a good bet) and won! So here's the recap: Priceline 4* Copley Square-Theatre District 5/28/2011-5/30-2011 $160 per night Plus taxes total is $187.25 per night A little more than I had hoped to pay (I stayed at the Omni last year for around $100 a night for Memorial Weekend) but think we will be happy with the hotel and the location.
  7. LouLou, I stayed at the Park Plaza about two and a half years ago in a room with 2 double beds. I have no complaints about it at all, especially the location as I was in town for the First Night festivities. The hotel has a McCormick and Schmick's on site if I remember correctly and a very nice lobby. It's not furnished in an exciting way, but I would say overall the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. :)
  8. Stamford Marriott 3.5* May 22-23, 2009 Won at first bid of $45 Total after tax was $57.99
