  1. Started bids for 4.5-star hotels: $90 - $120. Didn't worked out. Lowered star level to 4 star and started over with $90. Won at $111. Used the PRICELINE link from the forum. Very happy with the winning bid!
  2. Used betterbidding's PRICELINE link to make the bid. Last night, we tried to get 4-star hotels in Tech Center North or Tech Center South. Started bids from $50 to $110 with $5 increments by keep adding the filter zones. No success. Changed the star level to 3.5 today. Started bid at $60 with just the Tech Center North zone. Bid accepted at $65 after adding in the Tech Center South zone. After taxes and fees, the average cost per night for us would be $76.28. Hotwire asks for roughly $75 per night *pre-tax* for 3-star hotels in these zones in July. On Marriot's website, one room per night is listed around $110 post-tax (non-refundable) for the dates we want. We saved about 30% by bidding on priceline. Not a steep discount, but we are still pretty happy about it!
  3. Used the link here to access PRICELINE. I was planning on a 3.5* hotel but won this 4* with just one bid or $65. Very happy with the result! My stay is only one night: 7/31-8/1.
  4. I bid a couple of times up to $90 for a 3* hotel, according to your instructions. Nothing came up. So I decided to stretch my budget a bit to go with a 4*. The re-bid zones worked great. I ended up with The Westin Boston Waterfront for $98/night. (And of course, I used the link posted here to access PRICELINE.) Loving the result! It's a really nice hotel with the T station right across the street. This forum is awesome!
  5. Thank you for the swift reply! We are looking for just one room that accommodates two people. I may need to clarify what I mean by "great access to the T." As long as the T station is within 5-7 blocks, I'm okay with it. (Because I am traveling with my mom, she may not be able to walk more than that for public transportation. :) I am willing to try all 4 zones. I checked Hotwire yesterday and saw there they have a 3* in Cambridge for $99 for my dates of traveling. (I think it's the Holiday Inn Express, since the only amenity shown is Complimentary Breakfast.) With that in mind I'm willing to roll the dice on a lower price at priceline for 3*s. Thanks again for the help!
  6. Please help me with a bidding strategy for a Boston trip. Thank you in advance for your help. We are looking for 3 nights in Boston from 7/15-7/18. We would like to stay at whichever area that has great access to the T. So I guess that would be Cambridge, Copley Square, Quincy Market, or Waterfront? Please correct me if I'm wrong. :) A 3 star or at least 2.5 star would work best for us. Our budget maximum is $80 per night. Please let me know if I've posted enough info. This is my first time posting here! Thanks again!
