We did enjoy the stay. As an FYI, although the pool stays open later into the evening, the waterside closes at 6. One other amusing thing with this hotel is that since it used to be the Peabody, so if you pay attention, you can still occasionally find some duck imagery. For example, our room had a duck painting hanging in the bathroom. Thanks again! Dogbert

Was trying for the Rosen Centre Hotel (4*), which because I have stayed there before through Priceline, was showing as a fully unlocked express deal for $113 a night. Trying to save a few extra dollars, I decided to bid using Name Your Own Price, thinking I would get it because the 4.5 unknown hotel was going for 140. Started bidding at $80 and worked my way up in 5 dollar increments using the multiple zone strategy. BAM! I get a winning bid at $100. Imagine my surprise when it is the 4.5* Hyatt Regency Orlando. Hotel looks nice and the kids will enjoy the pool. I'm just a bit bummed because of their high resort fees ($24.42) and high parking fees ($22.00). My efforts to save a few bucks ended up costing me a few bucks, but oh well, that is the risk of bidding. Let me know if there is any other information you need me to provide. We had a great time at the hotel. Not nearly as fancy as other 4 star hotels I have been at, but the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, which as always is a big plus. The general manager even sent a small cake up to the room for my daughter when he heard we were there to celebrate her 10th birthday. Would I stay there again, perhaps, but only at the Priceline rate since the parking and resort fees were so high.

Saw there was a PRICELINE EXPRESS in this zone and star class for $76 a night. Used that to guide bidding strategy. Started at $60 a night and worked my way up in dollar increments. They say the resort fees are 22.49 a night (which matches PRICELINE EXPRESS offer), hotel website says is 19.99 a night. For two nights was 132.00 + 26.08 (taxes and fees) = 158.08 + whatever resort fees they are going to try and charge me. (better believe I will be bringing a printout of the hotel website page that shows the 19.99 price :) ) From looking at what a room was going for elsewhere (139.00 a night before any other fees), I'm pretty pleased. I'll follow up after staying and let you know what I thought. Started the bidding at 35 a night and worked my way up with a gradual increase strategy, aiming for 45 a night as highest bid. Won at 45 on final bid. reviews led me to be a little nervous and not so happy about parking fee. We checked in yesterday and were given a room in the two story buildings surrounding the tower. Remind me of the saying about slapping a coat of lipstick on a pig. Beds are hard. Rooms don't feel very resorty at all. Kids have enjoyed the pool, so i can't say it has been a total wash. Spoke with Manager at check-in and parking fee cut in half...let's see if check-out confirms this. Not saying i wouldn't stay here again, but it sure wouldn't be my first choice.

Cool beans on the win... Make sure to post what you think of the hotel. We have passed it many times and wondered how it is today there and what other fees they stick on. Weather is supposed to be a little cooler this weekend, so it should be comfortable for walking around.

I'm going to post my win for this weekend in a couple of minutes, but I just won the doubletree sea world for 45 a night before taxes- saturday to Monday - bidding with priceline. They also have shuttles to sea world and Disney. Only downside is they do tack on an extra 15 a night for parking.

Won on first bid at $48 a night. With taxes for the two night stay is $116.66. Being the cheapskate that I am, I wish I had started the bidding a couple of bucks less to see if that was the absolute bottom. Used the PRICELINE link to support the site. I was aiming for the Rosen Shingle Creek. We were taking a weekend getaway to orlando and I had seen a number of others posting about this property at that price and decided that such a low base price would make up for some of the extra costs while there. On a side note, the publix across the street comes in very handy to manage costs. What I gathered while at the hotel is that they are very dependant upon conferences for their business. There was no conference going on, so the place was pretty dead. Resturants close early, limited menu, things like that. Not sure if there is a way to check conferences there, but that would likely be a very good indicator of when the lower rates would be available.--dogbert

Wanted to give my feedback on the hotel. For 34 a night, i really don't have any complaints. The worst thing I can say is that the beds are double, which does make for a tighter time than a queen. The room was clean and without odors. The beds were comfortable. The kids had a great time at the pool. The breakfast is a little thin but the make your own waffles are rather tasty. The hotel is on the other side of the interstate from international drive, so having a car to get anywhere is pretty necessary. Walmart is real close however, which makes for true convenience to fill up the mini fridge and get stuff to microwave on the cheap. I would stay there again, so that is pretty good.

Just decided on a last minute trip to Orlando for the weekend. Got the Quality Suites Universal South for $34 a night through Hotwire using the link here. Amenities are: Suite Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Pool Laundry Facilities High-speed internet access Recommended in 75% of customer reviews. I have read mixed reviews on the place, but the price was right - $81.91 for the two nights (34 a night plus 13.91 in taxes and fees). I will give a review upon my return. The hotel was nice...no complaints and very convenient. Highly recommended for anyone who has to pick up someone arriving on a flight super early in the morning.

Got back from my trip and I was pleased with the hotel. Two full size beds and a pull out sofa in the room. Nice sized flat screen tv. Pool is a little on the small size, but the kids still had a blast. Free breakfast is basic: english muffins, bagles, toast, cereal, and fruit -- but still does the trick. Location is convenient for Universal, which is where we went for the weekend. When checking out there was a lady at the desk who was having a conversation with the manager because of a variety of issues she had with the plumbing in her room, but my stay was uneventful. To answer Jimmy, my bidding history was as follows: Zone 8 (selected 3 star hotel) - $25; Zones 8,7 - $27; Zones 8,7,11 - $29; Zones 8,7,11,3 - $30 (winning bid). The zone numbers are the different areas that show when looking for a hotel in orlando. I scoped each out before I started bidding to see what their maximum star rating was. I had seen others had gotten this hotel for 30, so this was the one I was hoping for. My preliminary research had the following list (I didn't pay attention to resorts, if available): 1- 4* 2 - 4* 3 - 2 1/2* 4 - 3 1/2* 5 - 3 1/2* 6 - 2 1/2* 7 - 2* 8 - didn't write down since I knew I was starting the bidding here asking for a 3* hotel 9 - 3* 10 - 3* 11 - 2* Each time I was denied on my asking price, I added a zone that had no hotels higher that 2 1/2 stars to my rebid. These are the "free rebids" because they obviously can't produce any winners since I set the mark at 3 stars or higher. I figured it would be 30 a night, but I wanted to try lower since it was so last minute. I hope all this info helps.

Just won a great deal at the Hyatt Place in Orlando through Priceline. $30 per night for 2 nights (April 24-26). I was trying to get this hotel based on the info from this board. I started at $25 a night and worked my way up to $30 using the free re-bids by selecting areas that didn't have anything higher than 2 1/2 stars.
