  1. Thanks Yellow Dog. I will be sure to post a review of the hotel post our December stay. It is probably worth noting that I checked out the hotel's website for the cost of a stay on these nights, through a direct booking - It would be US$125/ night (including taxes). So not quite the saving you mentioned (but a saving nonetheless!). I guess my concern is that we requested a 3.5* hotel and will be very disappointed to stay at something less than this, regardless of the price paid; ie. if we were comfortable to try a hotel with a lesser * quality, we would have selected this and bid accordingly. :) Don't get me wrong, given the price paid I know I sound like a whinger. But given the star rating requested, I am understandingly very disappointed to now read such mixed reviews, some mentioning tiny rooms, cockroaches, paper thin walls, dust and mould - it does give cause for alarm. :o Despite this, thank you for your response. As yet, in planning our US holiday this is our first poor experience with Priceline and hopefully with low expectations it turns out better than we hope! :) Being new to Priceline, we have appreciated the fantastic resource of the Better Bidding Forum. We will be sure to refer our friends here. :) Cheers LouLou
  2. Hello We booked the Boston Park Plaza Hotel for 22 - 24 December 2009 (2 nights). Copley Square - Theatre District Boston Park Plaza Hotel 64 Arlington Street Boston, Massachusetts 02116 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $70.00 Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.52 Total Charges: $166.52 I have since read some very negative reviews of this hotel on other forums, does anyone have some feedback from their own experience? I understand we are now locked into this hotel, so just after some feedback on what to expect. We used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link to start our bidding. Thanks for your help LouLou
  3. Hello We are new to car rental and Better Bidding and Priceline, having only used this site to book hotels previously. We would like to rent a car to travel from San Francisco to Las Vegas (5 December 2009 - 18 December 2009). Could I please ask: * We are not from the US and as such have no credit card or own car insurance that will cover the various insurance and waivers that seem to be required. Our travel insurance only provides for car rental excess cover. Does Priceline or Hotwire offer insurance as an extra and what do we require in California? Does the insurance costs negate the savings on Priceline or Hotwire making it better to go directly to the car rental company? * Does Priceline or Hotwire offer one-way rentals? * Is it better to wait until closer to December 09 to bid for the best deals? We are happy to use the Better Bidding PRICELINE links. Thank you kindly for your assistance LouLou :)
  4. Hello We were successful in winning the Sheraton at Fisherman's Wharf from 2 December 2009 - 5 December 2009 (3 nights). We paid US$65 per night. This included US$10 per night priceline bonus cash, so we only outlaid US$55 per night. So we paid US$165 + US$38.63 taxes = US$203.63. We used the Better Bidding PRICELINE Link. Thank you
  5. Hello Reporting back on my first ever Priceline win! I was able to secure the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel for US$79 per night; total for 3 nights including tax is US$280.17. I used the BB PRICELINE link from above. I also used the following link for bidding strategy help -> RE-BIDDING My strategy was: Bid 1: Select White House - Downtown US$65 Bid 2: Select White House - Downtown and DC Suburbs - Northeast Area US$70 Bid 3: Select White House - Downtown and DC Suburbs - Northeast Area and Mount Vernon US$73 Bid 4: Select White House - Downtown and DC Suburbs - Northeast Area and Mount Vernon and Springfield US$75 Winning Bid: Select White House - Downtown and DC Suburbs - Northeast Area and Mount Vernon and Springfieldand Crystal City US$79 Thank you for your assistance. Happy to receive any feedback on strategy to improve next time. Sorry - one more question: Has anyone used the 10% cashback marketing offers made upon win? I understand that you are signing up for a free trial, which if not cancelled in 30 days results in an ongoing club membership fee being charged? Is it worth the trouble? Thank you Cheers LouLou :)
  6. Thank you. Yes we have confirmed flight tickets and understand that the bookings are unable to be changed.
  7. Hello I am new to Betterbidding and Priceline. I have read the introductory posts and have a few questions, please. We (2 people) will be in Washington DC from 28 December 09, checking out 31 December 09 (total 3 nights). We will be arriving from New York via bus/train to Union Station. We would like to stay in the Whitehouse/Downtown zone; hopefully close to a metro stop; 3-4*; preferred price US$80 per room, per night (ie. similar to recent winners of Renaissance Mayflower hotel). Could you please advise on a bidding strategy. Would Hotwire or Priceline be recommended. Could you please tell me, is the credit card charged immediately for the full amount; i.e. Being from Australia, will today's exchange rate apply? Is it too soon to be bidding for hotels in December 09 (we are conscious this may be a busy time of year)? Are the prices we are seeing now, indicative of prices in the Christmas season or will they be higher or lower? Thank you. Apologies if we have asked too many 'beginner' questions. If there is a more suitable place to post these queries, please let me know. Thank you! :)
