Got the Park Lane Hotel, a 4.5 star hotel, for the good price of $151/night. Amenities listed are Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access. Rare to find a 4.5 star hotel with self service laundry. Address is listed as 36 Central Park South, but entrance looks like it's on 58th Street (the other side of the building from Central Park South/59th Street).

I just purchased a room on Hotwire at what was listed as a four star hotel in the Dupont Circle-Embassy Row area. Based on the amenities, I thought it might be the Palomar. I was quite surprised when it turned out to be the Westin Georgetown (formerly the Westin Grand), because that hotel had always previously been listed in the Kennedy Center-Geo. Washington University area. I guess Hotwire shifted the maps a little to keep people guessing. It's kind of ironic, especially because the hotel now is know as the Westin Georgetown, to help distinguish it from the other Westin in DC at 14th and M NW. Got the Latham Hotel for $129 for one night 2/22-2/23. It's a nice hotel - I'm surprised it was ever listed as a three star property, as it is significantly nicer than the Holiday Inn in Georgetown, which is also rated three stars but is kind of dumpy. Amenities: Boutique Hotel Business Center High-speed Internet Access The hotel does have a pool, but according to the hotel's website it is open seasonally, so that may be why it is not listed as an amenity. The hotel website also notes a fitness center, so I'm surprised that was not listed as an amenity (I did not check it out myself). Lastly, there is a restaurant in the hotel, but Citronelle is very high-end and only open for dinner five nights a week, which is why it is not listed as an amenity.

I don't know why it was downgraded - I have stayed there before and think it is closer to a 4 star. Yesterday it was listed for something like $179 plus tax/fees - even more than some 4.5 star hotels in DC. So waiting a day to book was well worth it. Fourstarbidder

I am trying to book a one night stay in DC for next Tuesday, 5/12, and the only thing even decently priced is a 2.5* hotel in Georgetown with these amenities: Boutique hotel Fitness center Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet access Does anyone have any ideas which hotel this might be? I find the whole idea of a 2.5* hotel being a boutique hotel kind of ridiculous, but for one night I'm willing to try it. Thank you, Four Star Bidder

Catching up on some old Hotwire emails. Booked a 4* hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from 4/26-28 in the Santa Fe Plaza Area, and got the Inn & Spa at Loretto for $126/night. Total for two nights including taxes/fees was $290.94. Amenities listed were: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities Spa Services I don't know why "Laundry Facilities" is listed as an amenity. Very few, if any, hotels of the Loretto's caliber will have a guest laundry facility, and the Loretto did not have on either (as I suspected). They do offer a laundry service (I think done off-site), but who knows how much that would cost, so I found a laundromat not too far away and did my laundry myself. I should also note that the Loretto charges a $12/day resort fee. They listed specifically what the fee covered, and I felt they were worthwhile amenities: 24-hour business center with three Internet terminals/computers, and a printer; free New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, in the lobby each day, while supplies last; and other amenities that I forget. Parking at the hotel is by valet only, for $18/day. There was overnight parking on streets nearby, so I did not use the hotel valet service, preferring to save money. But if you don't want to move the car or feed a meter at 8am, you might choose to use the valet. There are also some municipal parking lots not too far from the Loretto, but I do not think they allow overnight parking. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Loretto. Four Star Bidder

As a followup to my original post, I should note that the Intercontinental charges a valet fee (car parking) of $32/day. I didn't see any street parking near the hotel, so I paid the fee plus a tip for the valets. Four Star Bidder

Back in early March (3/5-3/6) I booked one night at a 3.5* hotel in the White House-Capitol Hill area, and it was the Washington Court Hotel at 525 New Jersey Ave. NW. Amenities listed were: Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby I do not consider the Washington Court Hotel to be a boutique hotel based on my stay there. It's a perfectly nice hotel, but there is nothing unique, special, or offbeat about it. It probably caters to visitors to Capitol Hill. Also, there is no golf and tennis nearby. There probably is some within 2-3 miles, but as for within 10 blocks of the hotel, forget about it. Some of the hallway windows on upper floors offer great views of the Capitol dome. I paid $99 plus taxes/fees, total of $118.17. Four Star Bidder

Arrived today in Los Angeles, and for $123/night plus taxes/fees, I booked the Los Angeles InterContinental from April 15-23. A great price for a great hotel chain (this is my first stay in the LA InterContinental, but I've enjoyed their hotels elsewhere).
