  1. 4* San Diego Hyatt Regency La Jolla for $75. I am extremely happy with this and found some helpful info about the Hyatt in the reviews. I can walk to Trader Joes, so that is a nice little surprise. Not to mention the fact that I have never stayed in a 4* hotel and don't travel much. This is a two night stay that completes my six night stay in the San Diego area. 4 nights first at $56 at the Doubletree Del Mar. I opted not to add an additional night at the Doubletree for $71. I am glad that I didn't. Decided to try for a 4 star our last two nights. I thought that our chances were good for a low price with just two nights and so many 4*s in the coastal area. Bid started at $62 San Diego Coastal rebid 5x, won at $75
  2. Success! Bid tonight using the Better Bidding link to PRICELINE winning the Doubletree San Diego Del Mar, 3* for $56 for 4 nights from 4/19-4/23. FYI, here is what I tried: Tried 3.5* at $55 with all 8 rebids, first with North County Coastal, then adding Del Mar up to $76 with no luck. Tried 3* at $51 North County Coastal, a free rebid at $56, then added Del Mar again at $56 and won.
  3. Success! Bid tonight using the Better Bidding link to PRICELINE winning the Doubletree San Diego Del Mar, 3* for $56 for 4 nights from 4/19-4/23. This looks like a sweet hotel with free parking and good reviews for the price and sure makes me happy to only have to find another two night stay to complete our trip in San Diego. Thanks to you all on this board for the super friendly advice and welcome to this Seattle newbie. I think I might be hooked!
  4. Thanks for the reassurance and tip about splitting the stay 3/3 nights. I bid last night again using every strategy with a split to do 5 nights first. I was rejected for 3.5* up to $89 and for a 3* up to $76. My intuition was as you suggested, to split the trip in half, so that is confirmation on my next strategy. The Holiday Inn downtown on Hotwire looks like it would be too noisy for an extended stay, plus the $$ parking does not add up to much savings. Will post results.
  5. New to forum and wanting to ID hotel in San Diego off Hotwire ID 3* San Diego Sea World - Mission Bay - Shelter Island Listed for $49 per night 4/19-4/25 1 room, 2 adults and 2 kids Pool, restaurant, laundry and internet Many thanks. Great forum.
  6. New here. Any suggestions most welcome. Trip is for: San Diego (Coastal) 4/19-4/25 3.5* or 3* I am open to Del Mar and maybe Downtown. Found this forum after unsuccessfully bidding yesterday on PL starting at $53 and using 7 free rebids up to $68, all rejected. I understand after reading your links that I could have closed the window and proceeded to directly bid on a 3*. Thanks for that tip, now I understand. My quandry is that my Sun-Friday night stay might be too long for PL. Should I try a Sun-Thursday stay and then a single Friday elsewhere? Any thoughts appreciated. Wishing that I hadn't waited so long to get the jist of rebidding. Feeling a bit of time pressure . Thanks for looking.
