  1. First trip to Key West and happy to have scored a pretty solid deal. Spendy weekend with the holidays, but worked out well. Did some research here ahead of time and saw 4 possible 4 star options in Key West. One Express bidding 4 star options at $316. Used rebid zones 2,4,5,7,8 as no 4 stars available there. First bid - $275, countered to $330 Second bid - $282 denied Third bid - $290 accepted Going price for my nights on priceline for same hotel is $389, cheapest price on Kayak I found for same hotel was $350 so overall a good deal for an normally expensive time of yera.
  2. Started at $125. Used handful of rebid zones and eventually won for $151 for the night. Was hoping for a bit cheaper, but just going for a quick trip and Saturday night is always the most expensive so still happy with the win. $151 was the winning price. Express offer for 5 star on North strip was $188. Cheapest I found online for the Venetian that night was $250 so overall a solid win at $100 off.
  3. Psyched to get this hotel in such a great spot for an anniversary trip this weekend. :) I had booked a refundable room a few weeks back at the Palomar (Kimpton) for $174/night, but wanted to try our look on Priceline today before heading out tomorrow. I'm not sure if everyone has the same case, but I usually have gotten better deals on Priceline with late notice. The Palomar looks like a great spot and is highly rated so at $174/night which is pretty good to begin with on a Holiday weekend I was only going to go with a PL unknown with a lowball bid. I was set on Union Square East 4* using zones 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11 as rebid zones 1. Rejected at $124 but countered by Priceline with $142 2. Rejected at $126 3. Winning bid at $129/night for Saturday and Sunday night stay over Labor Day weekend. Used the PRICELINE link as always prior to bidding.
  4. Once again, scored a great hotel deal thanks to this site for a weekend get away with my wife to San Fran. We wanted Union Square East. I started bidding at $104 as I saw someone had won here for a weekend stay in Feb, but was doubtful I'd get that low for my dates. I used the rebid zones where I knew no 4 stars were available. Our bids: 104 - Rejected 108 - Rejected 111 - Rejected 115 - Rejected 119 - Rejected 121 - Rejected 126 - Rejected, but countered with $150 131 - Accepted for Grand Hyatt San Francisco
  5. I was trying to get the Scottsdale Plaza Resort and ended up winning the Hyatt Regency. The Hyatt is actually more expensive and has better reviews, but we have a dog with us and while the Hyatt charges $50 for the dog, the Scottsdale Plaza Resort does not (they charge a $150 refundable deposit though). Anyways, I started at $115 as I saw someone else got the Plaza Resort for that, but seeing this is a Saturday night stay I wasn't surprised to end up paying more. I was able to not change dates or star levels by adding different areas where I knew they didn't have resorts (with one exception) My main zone was Scottsdale which offers 2 resort possibilities - The Hyatt Regency or the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. I was hoping for the Plaza as mentioned, but ok with either. I added these zones without fear of getting a win somewhere I didn't want: 1. Carefree (1 resort available, but very expensive so was very confident there was no way I'd get this before one of the Scottsdale options) 2. Goodyear (no resorts) 3. Surprise (no resorts) 4. Apache Junction (no resorts) My wife also did a few bids so we between the two of us this gave us 10 bid attempts (1 for original bid and 4 more adding each zone above). 1. $115 - Denied 2. $120 - Denied 3. $125 - Denied, but countered with $175 offer from Priceline 4. $131 - Denied 5. $135 - Denied 6. $140 - Denied 7. $145 - Denied 8. $150 - Denied 9. $155 - Accepted for Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Many thanks again to this site for helping me. Even though this wasn't my first choice, the lowest price tonight for this hotel on Travelocity is $499!
  6. That's a nice win. I was just trying to get that one for this weekend. Went from $115 up to $155 and eventually got a priceline win at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa for $155 for tonight (3/17). Not a bad win though as the Hyatt looks like it's regular rate is about $75 more than the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, even though that's the one I wanted.
  7. Needed a last minute room tonight by LAX. First bid of $50 rejected. Upped the bid to $54 and added Santa Monica to be able to bid again. I was certain I wouldn't get something in Santa Monica for that price so wasn't worried, although that's not too far anyways. Won with $54 for one night at the Hilton right next to the airport.
  8. The hotels actually look like they are pretty much right next to each other, but I think on opposite sides of the street. No big deal. It actually works out fine for what I need and don't mind the two different hotels. Great site by the way. Very useful and full of great info. And I do always use your PRICELINE links. :)
  9. I had gotten the New Orleans Marriot in the French Quarter for Friday, 3/25/11 to Sunday, 3/27/11 with a winning bid of $84 a night. (here you can see that priceline winning bid) I needed 2 rooms for the Thursday before for myself and a work colleague for just that one night. Was hoping to extend my stay at the Marriot for a day earlier, but no rooms were available at that rate through Priceline and didn't want to pay well over $200 for the same room I was already paying $84 for. I opted to bid for 2 rooms for that first night, looking downtown as that's where our conference is on Friday. Maybe should've bid lower since I won straight off with my first bid. I saw on Hotwire what looked like the New Orleans Downtown Sheraton for $75/night so I went ahead and put in a bid of $67/night for two rooms and won straight away.
  10. There is a conference down the street on Friday I'm going to, but probably only 100-200 people would be going to it and most people will be staying at the Intercontinental as it's attached to the conference venue.
  11. Started bidding at $80 for Downtown/French Quarter. Actually needed 3/24-3/27 and wasn't getting it. Changed to 3/25-3/27 and eventually got: The New Orleans Marriot 555 Canal Street 3/25-3/27 at $84/night My bids: 1. Downtown, 3/24-3/27, $80 - FAILED 2. Downtown, 3/24-3/27, $82 - FAILED 3. Downtown/French Quarter, 3/24-3/27, $83 - FAILED 4. Downtown/French Quarter, 3/24-3/27, $84 - FAILED 5. Downtown/French Quarter, 3/25-3/27, $84 - FAILED (Saturday, 12:20pm) 6. Downtown/French Quarter, 3/25-3/27, $84 - SUCCESSFUL (Saturday at 2pm) The interesting thing is I made the same bid twice, once just after noon and it was rejected, then again a couple hours later and it was accepted. So now I just need to hopefully get a good rate on the same hotel for that first night (Thurs, 3/24) I tried to extend my stay through Priceline and it said it wasn't available at that rate. Interesting that the cheaper rate is available Fri and Sat night, but not Thurs.
  12. Just found this board today as I was researching using priceline for the first time. have to admit, was a little nervous about taking the plunge and not knowing what we were getting. was originally going to bid $80 for a 4 star in Puerto Vallarta based on prices I was finding online, but really happy I found this site first! We just got 3 nights at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort And Towers for $57 a night! Dates are Mon, April 27th 2009 - Thur, April 30 2009. Comparable rates on Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, were $106-$115 for the same hotel on the same dates. Thanks for everyone's posts that saved us over $150!
