  1. I ended up winning Turtle Bay for one night 10/16/10 for $200. Not as cheap as I hoped, but still much cheaper than going direct! My strategy yesterday was starting at $185 and going up $5 at a time with safe zones. Thanks for your input.
  2. Well, I'd like $170, but would still be happy with $185.
  3. I've been bidding for the last couple of days (through the link on your site) in Oahu, North Shore Resort, and not having any luck. We only need one night on October 16th. It looks like others have won Turtle Bay ranging from $168-185. Here's my strategy: I started with Oahu North Shore $160 starting adding the "safe zones" one at a time (Diamond Head, Executive Center, Honolulu airport, Waikiki City Central) and going up a few dollars at time. My last bid was for $185, and I'm still not winning. Any suggestions? Do I just need to be patient and try back next week? Or do I need to keep going up? Thanks
  4. I bid $105 for Waikiki Beach area Resort tonight (through Better Bidding), and got a reply suggesting that I increase my bid by $20 - but I didn't. I'll try again tomorrow.
  5. Thanks for the feedback! Yes, our parents will be traveling the same dates as us (October 6-9). It would be ideal if they could get the same hotel, but we not that's possible, but no guarantees. We won the Waikiki Hyatt Regency Resort for $119 per night. I think I'll try bidding tonight using $119 Waikiki beach area resort, and see what happens.
  6. It seems some of the "winners" are getting better pricing when they are booking about a month in advance versus booking 2-4 months in advance. Has anyone noticed this type of trend? We are already booked (through this site) for an Priceline October stay in Waikiki beach area, but now I need to get a room for our parents.
  7. Thanks - Nice "trick" with the different zones/locations. I just bid $119 "resort" at waikiki beach and won the Hyatt. :) I was hoping for the Sheraton, but was expecting the Hyatt - that looks like the most frequent "winner" in this location and rating. Looks like a decent place. Thanks for all your help!
  8. Thank you for merging the threads, and the advise on quad occupancy. I think I'll stick with PRICELINE and when I win a hotel, I'll call and ask. If it's a problem, I'll get another room for the parents. We are staying October 6-9 (3 nights), and I want the Waikiki Beach area. I bid $102 yesterday on "resort" in this area and was turned down. It was suggested that I bid $20 more or change something. Then I was looking at the "resorts" versus the only 4* (Westin Moana Surfrider), and decided the Westin looks pretty nice, so I bid $87 on the 4* last night, and it was denied. I looked through all the Oahu threads last night and didn't see anyone win Westin. The only 4* I saw won in the area was the Hyatt - so I wasn't sure what to expect on price. Any idea? When reading the reviews on the resort options, Sheraton looks nice, but the others are mixed. Any idea if the 4* option (Westin) is similar or better than the resorts? I know how this works - I'm flexible, and will be happy with any of these hotels. I'm just trying to be strategic and get one I will like the most. Thank you!
  9. I don't know how the thread was separated - here's my reply: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry231463 I DID follow up.
  10. I just went back and checked and I did follow up on my Paris stay. I had the information of how I bid, what was actually accepted, the hotel, the price, and the dates. Am I missing something?
  11. We are going to bid a on Resort at Waikiki Beach, and will be staying for 3 nights in early October. Our parents are flying in a day or two later, and will stay with us 1 night (maybe 2 nights). Would that make a difference in the price? Should we disclose upfront? Thank you!!
  12. :) I put in a bid yesterday for $99 for the Opera West District, and they countered and asked me to increase my bid by $22. And then I added Opera East and increased the bid to $105, and they countered and asked me to increase my bid by $27. Today I put in a bid for Opera West for $110, and it was accepted! I got Hotel Concorde Lafayette. Looks like a nice place. Now I just need to figure out which is the closest metro stop to the hotel. The website says Metro 1 line.
  13. Thank you both - this is great information!!! You are right about the map being deceiving. When looking at Priceline, the area looks pretty "tight", but when you map it out, that's quite a walk sometimes! We have such a short time in Paris (excuse to go back later!). We are on a cruise, and LaHavre is our port, so we are taking the train into Paris, and will see as much as we can in a day, and stay overnight and take the train the next morning back to Cherbourg to catch up with the ship. We are taking a night bike ride tour that ends at 11:00 at the eiffel tower, so we thought it would be good to stay in this area, and take the metro to the train station (St Lazare) the next morning. But if the metro is easy to use, maybe we should be more flexible with our location, and that would give us more options. You've answered the most important question - don't overbid expecting a nicer hotel. I think we should either pick a hotel we want and book through Hotels.com or roomsnet.com or be flexible with the quality and get a great deal through priceline. Slick, did you do priceline? Where did you end up with your reservations? Thank you very much!!
  14. I'm needing some advice on a hotel in Paris please. We need a room in the Eiffel tower area. I'd like something nice at a decent price. Here are my questions: If I choose the Eiffel tower area on priceline, how far away from the tower could they put us? Since I've never been to Paris, it's hard to tell by the map. I wouldn't want to be more than a mile away. We'll be there in September. I see some people have gotten a 4* for around $100. Does bidding higher increase my chances of a better hotel or just more profit for the same hotel? I've read some reviews on the Novotel, and they weren't very good, so what would I need to bid to ensure I don't get the Novotel? Can you get a 5 star on priceline? Thank you!
