  1. I will be arriving in Toronto on a late flight on August 5th, and am trying to book a room at the Sheraton Gateway attached to the airport for that night only. Rates directly through Sheraton just jumped from $89 to over $200/night for a room...should have booked it when I saw it. Actually, I noticed that rates for hotels across the board increased around that time. Anyone have any idea why? I noticed the Priceline hotel list states that as of the last booking, it was (incorrectly) placed in the "Airport West" section. It is the only 4* listed in that category. Can anyone tell me when that booking occurred? I would think if it wasn't too long ago and it's the only one in that category, I would stand a pretty good chance of getting it if the bid is right. I realize that there can always be new additions that haven't been identified, so there's no guarantee. Thanks for any help, and I'll be sure to use the links on this site if I book Priceline or Hotwire.
  2. Listed as $79. +tax/recovery charges of $20.81 Total = $99.81 Listed amenities were complementary breakfast and high speed internet.
  3. Just completed the booking. I split the dates, and it was in fact two seperate hotels. 7/11 - 7/13 in Express by Holiday Inn Waterfront (which you may want to add to the list). 7/13 - 7/14 in Express by Holiday Inn Royal Mile. Both were in the 3* City Centre category.
  4. OK here goes.... A Hotwire search for Edinburgh 7/11 - 7/14 gives an option for 3* in City Centre area with complimentary breakfast and internet access for $99/night. I'm almost positive this is the Express by Holiday Inn Royal Mile. However, there must be rate changes. I've searched by splitting the dates as follows: 7/11 - 7/13 $94/night 7/13 - 7/14 $79 Total $267 +tax/fees (rather than $297 by booking the dates together) This is the only hotel at 3* with these amenities listed for all of the searches. Are there any pitfalls or things I should be aware of by creating separate bookings rather than doing it the more expensive way and booking all dates together? I'm hoping to get this done within a day or so, so feedback would be appreciated! (I'm going to use the HOTWIRE link from this site to begin my purchase)
  5. Hotwire rates the HI Express as 3* I think I might just book it from HOTWIRE to guarantee I get it. It's a relatively new hotel w/ breakfast included and I don't want to get stuck with some random nasty hotel if I take a chance w/ PRICELINE.
  6. Looking at this forum, it doesn't look like any areas of Edinburgh have anything less than 4* hotels which have been reported. Is this still correct? What happens if I select 3* or below on a priceline search for Edinburgh? I was hoping to get a room at H.I. Express on Royal Mile. It is listed for a decent price on Hotwire, but I was hoping to narrow it down and bid a little lower on Priceline.
  7. Got the Crowne Plaza Dublin-Northwood for $77 USD for one night (July 10, 2009). This will work great since I have an 0700 flight the next morning. Taxes and fees =$18.50 Total=$95.50 I will be traveling through Dublin again before my return to the US and need a hotel for July 18, but have not yet booked a room. I'm not sure if I want to stay more toward the center of the city for the lsat night yet or near the airport again.
  8. Just won the Crowne Plaza London-Shoreditch for $90 USD/night from 7/15/09-7/18/09. With added taxes/fees, the total for 3 nights is $321.79 USD. I'm very pleased with that rate and excited to stay here from what I've read so far regarding it.
