  1. UPDATE! So here is the update. I am still not sure whats going on with my mom we are supposed to solidify our arrangements this weekend but shes not on it. but I found out why. She requires a seat extension and is afraid of not getting on a flight and buying an extra ticket (very expensive from MI) and my cousin doesnt have an ID (hes 18 in june). So now we think they are driving from MI and I am coming up from FL. I called priceline and they said they can do a vacation package where the # of flight passengers and the # of people in hotel are different if I do it by phone (regular priceline, of course). But now i see there is a 4.5* hotel on hotwire for 139/nt and from looking around here it should be intercontinental or langham, both of which would be peachy. Think that is the way I should go (saw if fluctuate from 139 to 136 wonder what that was about) instead of priceline? I didnt want everyone to think I am not responding. I am just waiting for confirmation from my mom. Thanks!
  2. Just to make sure that you don't think I am ignoring the forum I am waiting for my mom to get back with me (and she thinks I have problems staying in touch). I think we want to make sure we have the occupancy for three but from my experience with Boston, most hotels (except for select budget hotels, like student budget hostels etc) limit the occupancy to three or four, many upscale limiting to three. If it is a matter of having a king bed or two double beds, my mom and I could sleep on the king and get a roll away for my cousin I suppose. Though some hotels do not do roll aways. Maybe it is a risk though, need to talk to mom about it. But HOTWIRE, the last I checked (am checking again now) didn't have any really good deals. There are much better deals on Orbitz or regular priceline for vacation packages. I have a related question to help with the decision. Is there a way on regular PRICELINE or Orbitz to book a vaca package with two flights from GRR to BOS but an occupancy in the hotel of three (I am coming from FL)?
  3. Hello everyone I am looking for a hotel for the fourth of July in Boston for 5-6 nights (2nd-7th). I realize this is an insanely hard find because its one of Bostons biggest holidays and its a longer trip. But, I would like to stay for 5-6 nights from the 2nd to the 7th is what I am thinking. I am going with my mother and cousin who is 17. I would like to stay in the following areas: -Copley Square - Theatre District -Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial What bids should I expect to be able to get? I tried some low ball numbers of 150 for 4* and 5* hotels trying to see if they would offer me the option of giving me the price that will be accepted like they sometimes do. When I did this I forgot i once got the Marriott in Copley place for 140 and it was not worth the star rating (very old, not clean, amenities seemed to be there but were hard to access and the service is HORRIBLE). This was however in September not near the fourth of July. And thankfully they did not put me there, they did not accept the offer. It thought about it a LONG time before it denied it though, does this mean it was checking average nightly rates and maybe part of my trip was covered by that cost but not all, or is it purely coincidental and relies on my internet connection? If I could stay in any hotel in Boston it would be the Intercontinental (well assuming the Ritz etc are out of my league :) ). I think from reading the intercontinental is available right now from Hotwire at 199 a night, though I am not certain that it is the Intercontinental. My mom really likes the holiday inn at government center or whatever it is called nowadays (still holiday in, maybe beacon hill though not sure). Is there any suggestions on booking this trip, should I try in segments and switch hotels if I have to for a good price? Maybe pre 4th and after 4th split or something similar. Is there anyway to try and get the Intercontinental? Does anyone have prices they have paid around the fourth or think they know an appropriate range? Does anyone know what the 5* hotel is? There is a pretty good deal on regular priceline packages at the Hyatt, 677 pp for 2 tickets from MI and the 5 nights. (I am coming from FL not MI). I am just trying to look at all options. I have only used Priceline once and I obviously paid too much for the room I got compared to other bids. I dont want to do it again. Thanks for any help and advice! Laura
