Thank you. Even though not a Cabana Bay fan had hoped it might be the 3.5 *
closing out thread. Will keep checking another month. If i book HW, will do so thru this site.
Thot i had closed both out, went back & reposted :)
Closed out 6/20/13 booked direct via promo rate @ HIlton
Price didn't drop, used TS
Early in game normally, but 3 day Columbus Day weekend is sold out at many of the Loews onsite properties already. I am seeing 4 night minimum, but it won't fit into existing plans in the area.
On Hotwire Searched for 2 A & 2 C (to avoid a king bed, need two). Finding the following two listings via the link here, believe the 4 star might be Sapphire Falls.
The 3.5 sounds like what I've seen in past for doubletree, could book it on points, don't want the walk to parks
Cabana Bay is only resort still available to book direct, but do not want to stay there. Not sure if it's been appearing/ranking on Hotwire or could be the 3.5.

re amenities, having issue getting the bidding helper (that I thought gave easier to navigate amenities) to work for this reservation via link here.
Hoping to snag the Wyndham Bonnet Creek which is $199 + via AAA currently
Swan/Dolphin, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, DTD Hilton all good for me but believe their resort fees exceed the $20 stated. I wouldn't be happy with B (rf $25) or Sheraton LBV (rf $22).

sorry, didn't know doh
oldAGE good rate for that property, it's on our radar. Below is recap of our 4 night stay @ the DTD Hilton, doesn't include the parking fee ($13? per day) but a good deal for a nice, quiet onsite hotel with the disney extra magic hours.
Rate per night:
67.20 USD 08 Jun 2013 - 11 Jun 2013
79.20 USD 11 Jun 2013 - 12 Jun 2013
Total for Stay per Room:
Rate 280.80 USD
Resort Charge 88.00 USD
Taxes 46.10
USD Total 414.90 USD
Total for Stay: 414.90 USD
Includes estimated taxes and service charges. (Gratuities not included.)
driving by to close out the thread. Wound up cancelling the onsite WDW res and went directly with a promo rate @ the DTD Hilton which included the extra magic hours perk. Did keep checking hotwire but couldn't beat the price for the hotel although there were several other 4 star DTD properties that were $10 to $15 less a night.
now to start digging for October and January travel B)
haha yep, on the DIS. onsite prices are ridiculous last few years. We go down a couple times a year, typically rent a car which is now a 'penalty' at so many of the offsite resorts grrr.
didn't think of looking @ SeaWorld area or Shingle Creek, although it's the way we drive in from MCO.
Would love to stay @ Gaylord Palms but not Omni so bidding in that area makes me nervous.
Thanks for the input, still watching and waiting. Somebody has to book that 4-1/2 star hotel sooner or later and report here. :)
Didn't think of that strategy re the 1st night, thank you. Since i have a few months will sit on this for a bit, perhaps somebody will book the 4-1/2 star and report their success story here. :)
RE paying the resort fees with the stated price:
*If the 4-1/2 * also had just the $22 resort fee with no additional self parking charge, it would depend on the property. If the Hyatt Grand Cypress (unlikely as I believe their resort fee was at least $25 the last time i visited) or their Villas (possible $22 fee, don't see parking fee listed on their site) i'd be very tempted.
*As to the 4 * property, again, if either of the above properties fit they'd be a strong consideration.
For comparison sake, under the existing promo the current rate for a disney value resort 'room only' for my dates is currently pricing @ $850.
My search for 1 room, 2 adults & just checked the 4* properties, it appears to have increased by $2 a night, plus the $15 fee

makes sense, would enjoy staying there but with the daily fee being $28 (resort/transportation fee of $16 and parking of recent mandatory $12 per night fee for parking, park shuttles, etc, regardless of whether you use those services) am going to keep an eye on it before booking to see if drops any if people start balking at the new $12 fee.
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort also has $16 fee, not sure if it's considered a 'resort' by priceline. wouldn't want to book it
thank you, if i decide to book, will use this site.

Not the OP but in casual search for 6/8 for 6 nights i'm seeing the same express deal listed for $89/night one Queen or King, 2 adults with $16 resort fee/night paid at hotel...any idea?
re resort fees, believe hilton's is $22, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is over $25. Not sure if any of the bonnett creek properties would be a fit.
If i need to start a new thread, apologies, please let me know.
Sheraton Old San Juan it was!
$245 after the dust settled for 2 nights. Hotel website indicates approx $11 fee, believe it may be 11% as stated on Sheraton website.
I was fixated on this hotel in order to have a convenient base to tour OSJ both Sat & Sun (ship doesn't sail until 10 pm or so on Sunday). Now we can drag our heels and enjoy that hotel bar/casino on Saturday night, wake up late and just wheel our luggage over late afternoon to the ship.
BTW, this rate was $110 less than the best i could find (AAA) for same 2 nights. I had called the hotel and tried to negotiate 1 night for a higher rate but was told that only closer to the date would they consider & told typically they only adjust it by $100 from the 2 night stay.
$ wise not the best bargin for bragging rights but sometimes that isn't the most important criteria.
Thanks again for your help.
Trying to book the Sheraton OSJ for convenience sake pre cruise. Only need 1 night but two night minimum currently imposed according to starwood. Willing to book 2 nights & not use the 2nd if I can get it in $250 range out the door via hotwire.
This one is coming up today, any ideas what hotel?

decided to try my 1st priceline booking, did go thru this site's PRICELINE link :)
started out @ $63 a night, kept adding zones & after 5 attempts, got the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress woo-hoo
$95 a night, subtotal of $380
taxes and fees another $65 (seems to be an odd amount as i thought tax was 12.5% or approx $48? perhaps priceline fees?)
assume i'll get hit with the combo resort/parking daily fee $33 or so or another $132
Total OOP $576 or $144 a night (or $200 less than same stay @ WDW moderate resort lol)
i doubled checked the info just now, i forgot to list restaurants sorry double-checked the others i listed too.
fyi, for the 4.5* property, it's indicated:
recommended by 90% on hotwire (overall satisfaction 4.5%, condition of hotel 5%, quality of service, room comfort & room cleanliness 4.5%, location of hotel 4.0%
4.0 of 5.0 on Trip Advisor - currently omni gets 4.5 & gaylord palms 4.0, but not sure that's necessarily reliable?

woo-hoo the Riu! $141.21 'in' the door.
while it's not the Loews (where i was paying $650+) the difference of $500 should come close to covering our expenses for our pre-cruise stay in Miami
btw, i did book thru the HOTWIRE link! thanx for all you do.

Loews you first platinum member, I receive a $100 resort credit for my stays & upgrade to suite if available.
Even though the suite upgrade is not currently available the credit is. I booked direct with hotel (only way to get the credit) net price less $ overall than the hotwire price would end up & it's a qualifying stay towards my status with the chain.
thank you
